Chapter 1 of Abandoned for His First Love, Returned as Racing Champion

Quincy Coleman was the navigator of the talented racing driver Leonard Barnes, helping him win many racing championships.

They kissed in the empty desert, drank together under the moonlight on the sand dunes, and promised to race across the whole world together.

Later, during a race, Quincy lost her right leg, and her face was badly damaged.

Leonard sold all the racing cars and used all his wealth to propose to her.

On their wedding day, a rich young woman who had admired Leonard for years wore a wedding dress and tried to steal the wedding, but Leonard sent her to a mental hospital.

Even after five years of marriage, Leonard still loved Quincy the same way as before.

He changed careers and studied medicine, bringing her abroad for facial reconstruction surgery.

He also spent huge amounts of money to invite rehabilitation specialists from overseas to create a prosthetic leg for her.

On this day, Quincy finally stood up.

She hurried to find Leonard, yet before reaching his office, she heard Cora Crawford speaking inside.

“You care about racing that much. Have you ever regretted giving it up for Quincy?”

Cora was Leonard’s most devoted fan. Before he got married, she stubbornly followed him everywhere. After she tried to steal the wedding and was sent to a psychiatric hospital, she vanished completely.

Quincy could not even think about why they were together. She simply waited for Leonard to deny it.

However, after a moment of silence, Leonard quietly replied, “I do regret it. Every day feels like torture.”

All the color disappeared from Quincy’s face. Her body shook nonstop as she leaned against the doorframe to keep herself from collapsing.

The conversation inside the office continued.

“Sorry, Leonard… If I hadn’t touched that road book back then, the accident would never have happened. You wouldn’t have been forced to leave the racing world, and you wouldn’t need to stay by Quincy’s side out of guilt, living this kind of life with her.”

Every single word pierced Quincy’s ears. Her entire body turned cold, as if she had been thrown into an ice cave.

Five years ago, after she woke up, Leonard explained that he had been half a second too slow when braking, which caused the race car to fly off the track.

She believed every word he said and even tried to comfort him, asking him not to carry the blame.

Never in her dreams did she expect that Cora had been the real culprit.

Quincy’s blood boiled with anger. She was just about to rush inside and confront them when Cora spoke again.

“Leonard, the RPC race is next month. I already signed you up without asking. This time, I want to be your navigator!”

Leonard hesitated only briefly before replying with a smile, “Okay.”

Quincy could no longer hear the rest of their conversation. The only thing echoing in her mind was something Leonard once told her.

“Quincy, from the moment I first saw you, I already knew the co-driver’s seat would always belong to you.”

It felt as though an invisible hand tightly gripped her heart, squeezing so hard that she could barely breathe. Tears continuously streamed down.

Leonard never noticed Quincy standing outside the door. He excitedly discussed the upcoming race with Cora, the two of them acting intimately like a couple.

Quincy did not remember how she left the place. When she finally realized where she was, she had already arrived back at the villa.

Inside the living room hung a massive wedding portrait. The two of them embraced each other closely, their eyes filled only with one another.

Her heart ached as if it were being sliced apart. She could no longer stand and fell to her knees on the floor, covering her face as bitter tears poured out.

She had once thought that after going through life and death together, they would remain together until they grew old.

But who could have imagined that the marriage she believed was full of happiness had only been Leonard’s compensation?

The loving life she treasured had apparently been nothing more than pain to him…

It felt as though a huge invisible hand gripped her heart tightly, making it hard for her to breathe.

Moments later, Quincy dried her tears and printed a divorce agreement.

If Leonard’s love had been built on lies and guilt, then she no longer wanted it.

Not long after, Quincy went to find Diana Barnes.

“Mom, I want a divorce. Please help me think of a way to get him to sign.”

Seeing the divorce agreement already signed by Quincy, Diana looked shocked.

“You finally figured things out.”

From the start, Diana had never thought highly of this marriage. She never wanted her son to spend his entire life living with guilt.

Now that Quincy wanted a divorce, it was exactly what Diana hoped for.

“Okay,” Diana replied. “I’ll make Leonard sign it as soon as I can. But he cares about you so much that he probably won’t agree to a divorce. I’ll need a proper excuse before I can fool him into signing.”

Quincy could not bear waiting any longer.

“Please hurry.”

After she returned to the villa, she somehow found herself walking toward the basement, almost as though she had been led there by an invisible force.

Seeing the dusty trophies, her eyes quickly turned red.

She thought about the first time they met.

Back then, she had only turned 18, while Leonard was 19.

They got lost in the desert, and the GPS signal disappeared, leaving them trapped in the empty area.

She said his driving was terrible, and he joked that her temper was too much.

As they kept arguing, he suddenly kissed her.

Beneath the starry sky, he cupped her face like it was the most valuable trophy.

“Quincy, after we finish RPC, finish Dakar, and drive across the whole world, I’ll marry you.”

She laughed and hit his shoulder, calling him crazy.

They really were crazy.

One was a gifted racer who won American rally races at only 20 years old, while the other was a navigator who could remember every road on every track even with her eyes shut.

In three years, they won twelve championship trophies and drove across half the world in racing cars.

Until the last race.

Quincy lowered her head and looked at the prosthetic leg on her right side, the titanium alloy joints giving off a cold shine under the lights.

During those five years, Leonard never made her feel that the leg was a burden.

Every day, Leonard helped Quincy with her rehabilitation exercises, told her interesting stories from the hospital, and stayed beside her while they watched recordings of racing competitions.

He said, “After you recover, we’ll go watch the RPC race in person.”

He said, “Even if we can’t race anymore, we can still watch others drive.”

He said, “Quincy, you are more important to me than racing.”

But now, every one of those words stabbed into Quincy’s heart like knives.

Leaning against the wall for support, she slowly crouched down and picked up the trophy from their very first championship.

After brushing away the dust, the engraved words on the base came into view.

[The championship belongs to Leonard. Leonard belongs to Quincy.]

On the day they won that award, Leonard had lifted her into his arms and spun her around, saying she was the only person qualified to sit beside him as his navigator.

He also promised that every trophy he won in this lifetime would belong to her.

It was because Quincy had given up her own racing career just to become Leonard’s navigator.

After that, they won countless championships, collecting so many trophies that they could barely carry them all.

Later on, they got into a crash on the race track.

Right before the racing car flew off the track, Quincy rushed toward Leonard without thinking and shielded him with her body.

During those five years, she never regretted that choice.

She even felt lucky that she was the one who became disabled.

But the man she nearly gave her life to save regretted leaving racing because of her.

He even lied to her about the person who caused the sudden death.

Tears covered her eyes, and Quincy finally cried out loud.

Then, footsteps sounded from behind her.

Quincy turned back and saw Leonard standing under the faint yellow light, tiredness showing on his face.

When he noticed the trophy in her hand, his face changed a little. “Why are you here?”

Before she could answer, he spoke again. “Quincy, RPC has a race next month. I already signed up.”

Quincy stared at him without blinking, suddenly feeling like he was a stranger.

Leonard’s heart started beating faster as he walked toward her.

He reached out and held her face, just like that night under the stars years ago.

“Quincy, I really want to race. Let me go, okay?”

The two identical faces overlapped inside her mind.

Quincy felt like a blunt knife was slowly stabbing through her chest, and even breathing made her lungs ache.

She pulled at the corners of her lips and forced out a smile. “Okay, then.”

Leonard’s eyes lit up with happiness, his eyes shifting slightly. “Your leg still hasn’t recovered well, so for this race, I plan to let Cora go with me.”

“Don’t think too much. There’s nothing between her and me. She doesn’t chase after me anymore like before, and she’s also become a very good navigator...”

“No misunderstanding.” Quincy stopped him. “Who you choose as your navigator is your own decision. I only want to ask you one thing. That accident five years ago, was it truly an accident?”

Leonard obviously didn’t think she would suddenly ask about it. His expression became a little strange before quickly returning to normal.

“Sorry, Quincy. It was my bad judgment. I didn’t brake at the final braking point. If not, you wouldn’t have gone through so much.”

“Heh.” Quincy laughed sarcastically. “Leonard, you really should be an actor. Those acting skills of yours...”

Before she finished talking, Leonard’s phone rang. It was Cora calling.

Sounding apologetic, he said, “Cora is probably calling to discuss the race. I’ll go deal with it first. We’ll talk again later.”

As she watched Leonard quickly walk away, Quincy’s breathing became heavy, her nails pressing deeply into her palms.

She truly had been stupid for failing to notice that the man beside her had already changed his feelings.

She could handle not being loved, but she couldn’t stand lies.

She wanted Leonard and Cora to pay the price for the accident five years ago.

At that thought, Quincy pulled out her phone and called a private detective, asking the other side to look into Cora.

Then she contacted the manager she had turned down again and again before.

“Pass the message to your boss. I’m agreeing to sign the contract as a racing driver.”
