Chapter 1 of The vengeance of the luna

My gaze locked on the rays of moonlight dazzling through my windows. It was nighttime, and it was the day I used to visit my dead childhood friend. Whom my parents had murdered.

" Evander."

My hands clenched the sparkling necklace lying around my throat. A little soft smile stretched on my lips.

This was the only thing I of him, and he was the only one who understood how I felt in this family. I had promised myself after his death I would always be with him.

Visit him, and also, that place felt like home. It felt like a perfect place where I could step out of this cruel family and find peace. A place where I wouldn't get to see their wicked faces, and my mother wasn't just cruel; she was the devil herself.

I stepped closer to the door, frightened.

I didn't want them to know I was stepping out.

I held the door handle, and it cracked, and then I stepped out. My body could feel the guard standing outside. I tiptoed silently into the living room. Sneaking away from my parents, but then I remembered my mother and Dad had left for a pack of elders meeting.

They were one of the pack leaders in moon stone hollow. They owned the Corporate Howls company.

My cruel sibling had come out for a night, partying with the other wolves, so the house was quiet for now.

I stepped out and walked to my old rusty bicycle, stepped on it and then pulled away.

The night was cold and weary as I pedaled out on the wheels without stopping.

My mind ran through a lot of thoughts, recalling how my parents had murdered

" Evander", my childhood friend.

As I thought about it, tears dripped down my face.

In an hour of peddling, I was so deep in thought that my eyes didn't catch the huge stone on the floor. I crashed so hard, but managed to hold my stance. That's when I knew  I had arrived.

It was an abandoned glass pavilion hidden in the woods, with slicked beams and a floor.

The ceiling windows let in faint moonlight, offering a vast open spark inside. Secluded from the outside world.

I stepped down and walked to a small sculptured bench, Sat on it, and I remembered how I would sit with him happily. His smiles, his voice of encouragement, and the way he talked. The way he made me feel safe.

That bench actually brought back memories. Tears spilled down my face.

But that happiness was ruined by my parents, and for that moment, everything went silent. I hated myself every day for not protecting him. Every day was painful to me, and his last words,

"Live, Freya, and stay alive."  My hands sat quietly on the bench, swiping gently as tears spilled down my face.

That's when I heard it, a sharp sound, mumbling quietly.

I hesitated at first, thinking that I must have heard something else.

Then I heard it again.

I stepped quietly, following the sound.

My feet stopped. I couldn't move anymore. My eyes widened.

What did I just see?.

A man kneeling in a pool of blood, his claws dripping with blood as his head lay on the throat of a lifeless lady whose stomach had split slightly. His presence was subduing; it felt heavy. Every Aura on him made  my wolf scream for me to run.

My hands began shivering instantly, and I didn't know when I stepped on a tree branch.

The man's head went up instantly, turning his gaze at me. In an instant, I could see his face vividly, even though it was soaked in blood.

His eyes locked on me, unbothered and raging in fury as tears spilled down his face.

I stared back, terrified, frightened, and I sprinted back to my rusted bicycle, stepping on it, and my leg drifted to the pedal when a devilish laughter tore through the pavilion that sent shivers down my spine.

I pedaled instantly even when my legs were shivering. I had to because he might come for me.

And something about him felt like he was an alpha.

I pedaled fast from him, and my hands trembled. heart racing.

Who was he? And those words kept pounding on my head as I pedaled fast.

And in an hour. I rode back home and sprinted inside, afraid he might come for me.

But I didn't notice my mother was already standing right in front of me.

"You runt, how dare you step out of this house?. The moment I heard her voice, my hands trembled more as I stared deeper into her eyes.

I noticed my siblings were back, each of their hands crossed together.

My mother stepped forward and yanked my hair hard.

"Don't tell me you went to that place again."

 The room tore into laughter.

" He's dead. Do you forget? I killed him. I promised you I was going to take down everyone who loved you." My mother spat out. Her lips smashed into a deadly smile.

I didn't say a word. I knew if I did. I would be dead.

I just wanted to survive. I wanted to be strong enough to leave these brats. I was tired of the way I was treated, but I had nowhere to go.

"Tomorrow is the Fated Bound ceremony. Our family needs an alliance, so you have to bond to a mate. Or you will be dead if you come back home.

My heart raced more with those words. This was the third time. I was going to the Fated Bound ceremony, and I hadn't found my mate, and I knew my mother's words weren't a joke.

Isabella's eyes locked on me with a smug look on her face.

"I know I'm going to be mated to the most handsome, powerful alpha in Moonstone Hollow." She sneered.

Alexander stared at me with those deadly eyes. He had always been so cold and distant, but he was a devil.

He was an alpha, the leader of our pack. Isabella was a beta, and if she dared to mate with an alpha, she became a luna.

"Yes, ma'am," I whispered faintly. Those words left my mouth as I stepped away into my room because I knew if I told them what I saw today, they would not believe me. they didn't care.

I was frightened by what I saw today, and I stumbled onto my bed.

My hands trembling, my eyes wide open, still shocked by what I had seen, I didn't know when my eyes pulled shut.

My wolf kept screaming for me to wake up. My eyes lit open; the sunlight cut through my eyes.

Freya, Today is the Fated Bound ceremony.

I yawned so hard that I almost pulled myself from my bed. I didn't care.

I was tired of it, of how every wolf in the pavilion gave me a hideous look.

The laugh that tore from their throat each time I stepped into the pavilion.

I wasn't the type of wolf everyone wanted.

But I had to. My mother had given me a death threat. I stood up from my bed as I prepared for the evening ceremony.

__

BY EVENING.

I sat in front of the mirror in my room, my hands dapping gently on my face as I applied my makeup, and sad, unhappy, but my wolf kept cheering me up that I would find my Fated Bound today. I didn't care. All I wanted was to leave this abusive family.

When I was done, I stood up and stared at my reflection.

My average black flare gown, which looked slightly old, cut the mirror, and the flecks on the bottom of my belly almost ruined the dress.

I stepped out. I knew. They must be waiting. My hands were already trembling.

__

Fated bound ceremony!

The grand Hall was packed with wolves from every surrounding territory.

I stood there quietly, unbothered, but my mother's voice kept ringing through my mind.  I didn't know what to do.

What if I didn't find a mate? Will I actually be dead? My hands shivered as I thought of it.

My eyes caught on Isabella as she was standing right with the other she wolves, her lips stretched in a soft, happy smile.

Her dress glittered through the moonlight of the ground hall.

Alexander was there. Standing like a charming prince, his hair was damp, and he was six feet tall, with golden hair and blue eyes.

Isabella was slim, slender, the kind of girl every wolf wanted. Her ball gowns were layered with sparkling crystals, earrings dazzling with the chandelier, her hair packed in her low bun. With her glittering blue eyes. That if I stood right beside her many would argue we were sisters.

The hall went silent as high ranking alphas stepped into the grand hall. Every lady in the hall began whispering with excitement as each alpha stepped in.

But suddenly an alpha stepped in, tall, imposing, his shrouded deep midnight robes.

The instant my eyes  caught his, Flashes of an alpha drinking blood came through. What is he doing here? My hands shivered as I chuckled a little spit down my throat. Whispers erupted from the crowd.

"Alpha Kalean, what is he doing here?.

My eyes locked on his dark eyes, which held a dulling stillness.

"Alpha Kalan, Lunar Hunter, the ruthless alpha."

Ice ran through my veins. The man who slaughtered that woman at the old pavilion. A Voice broke out loud and clear, snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Hello wolves, she wolves, unmated Alphas and every wolf of different kinds. Today is a Fated Bound ceremony, as we all know. All she-wolves step forward, and unwanted alphas step forward. Let the fated bond ceremony begin," the elder said.

I stepped forward gently, but my heart was pounding fast. I didn't know why something felt strange. As I stepped forward, my heart started pounding. Right in front of the holder, she held my hands gently and drew an M symbol. A glowing light appeared; I knew. It had always been like this, and nothing ever happened next.

Then suddenly,my eyes caught a magical thread spreading across my wrist.

What?My wolf screamed. I turned to the crowd, and my eyes couldn't grab who I was seeing. Kalean the one who killed this lunar, the one who slaughtered that woman. A magical thread wrapped around his wrist. Binding us together. My hands shivered, my heart raced. What was going on? Why? Was I bound to my death?

I didn't finish this thought. When a word slipped out of my mouth.

" I reject him" The crowd exploded
