Atticus paused for a second, then soon smiled and declined. “No. You only had surgery recently. Wait until you recover completely.”

Dixie’s breath caught, and she lowered her head in embarrassment.

Dixie’s cheeks turned very red, and she softly replied, “Hmm.”

That night, they held each other and slept as usual.

When Dixie woke the next morning, Atticus was already gone from her side.

Thirty minutes later, she received a friend request from Jennifer Steinfeld.

[Did you fail to please Atticus last night? He just wanted me twice. My legs are still weak.]

Dixie’s eyes shook as she stared, unable to believe it.
