Chapter 1 of Trading My Ex for His Uncle

I look at the messy bed and the naked pair intertwined in front of me - sweaty sex, the room filled with loud groans - and I see my husband forcefully insert himself into the female secretary, who gives a satisfied cry, and my heart breaks. They were so focused, they didn't even notice me standing there. When I got home, I immediately filed for divorce and married my ex-husband's uncle.

During my third trimester of attempting to conceive, I took a shower and awaited my husband in bed, praying that we would succeed tonight!

Suddenly, a text message rang and I saw a message from Jordyn, the secretary of my husband Clark!

I think my new nightgown is a bit tight. Why don't you come over and check if it fits?

Attached was a selfie of a woman in a deep V-neck red slip dress, exuding seduction.

I flipped through the text messages and saw that Clark and Jordyn's previous communication was entirely work-related, which made me wonder, "Is this a mistake?" Or..."

Suddenly a hand wrapped around my waist from behind, interrupting my thoughts.

"Honey, I'm all cleaned up. Do you want to do it on the couch or the bed?"

I didn't respond because I was still thinking about it.

"Since you remain silent, I'll make the choice. Let's do it on the couch," Clark stated, his voice hoarse and his eyes brimming with a glimmer of fire that caused me to blush immediately.

Clark leaned over to kiss me, but I turned my head away.

Sensing my abnormality, he looked at me in confusion. 'What's the matter, dear?

"Explain this first." I seized his phone and handed him that text.

Clark glanced at the screen and immediately frowned, grabbing the phone to make a call.It was quickly answered.

"Mr. Sumner, what can I do for you?"

Clark glowered, and his voice turned icy. "I didn’t know my secretary started soliciting clients."

There was a moment of silence before Jordyn's panicked voice came through. "M-Mr. Sumner, I'm sorry. That message was meant for my boyfriend. I must have sent it to you by mistake..."

"Next time it happens, pack your things and leave!" Clark hung up "Honey, she sent it by mistake. If you're still upset, I'll fire her tomorrow. It's late now, so let’s not waste time on someone unworthy. We haven't seen each other in a week. You need to make it up to me tonight."

"I'm tired tonight. Let's continue tomorrow."Even though things have been solved, my emotions are also messed up!

A flash of disappointment crossed Clark's eyes, but he didn't pressure me. "Alright, you sleep first. I'm not tired yet, so I'll go to the study to handle some work."

It started raining heavily in the middle of the night.

The thunderous roar woke me up, followed by a succession of text messages bombarding my phone, and I was in a highly uneasy mood, as if these messages could shatter my marriage at any moment.

[Still awake? Because your husband isn't with you? ]

[I was scared because of the thunder and power outage, and he came to comfort me.]

[Don't you want to know where your husband is? ]

As I read the messages and the boastful tone, my hands trembled uncontrollably. After a considerable while, another text arrived with an address and a series of digits.

All I can think of at present is that image of that woman in that seductive lingerie. I grabbed my car keys and drove directly there.

I entered the code, and the door unlocked.

The living room lights were on. From the entrance to the bedroom door, a man's suit and a woman's lingerie were strewn about, revealing the urgency of their actions.

Seeing the torn red nightgown at the bedroom door, I felt a sense of absurdity.

Trembling, I reached out and slowly pushed the door open.

The sight of the messy bed and the couple entwined—their heavy breathing filling the room—pierced my heart. They were so focused, they didn't even notice that I was standing there.

Hearing Jordyn's satisfied sound and seeing them right in front of me, I couldn't bear to watch any longer. I turned around, staggered towards the door, and immediately started the car.

Before today, I had never imagined that the word "betrayal" would be applicable to our marriage. However, now reality has dealt me a heavy blow.

The original wedding vows stated that no matter how perfect and solemn they were, they still couldn't resist the hearts of the people.

I drink myself to death and I don't want to go home tonight. I feel sick! I took the room card given to me by the front desk and went to the door of my room in a daze.tried the card on the door. Hearing no beep, and was about to push the door when it suddenly opened.

I froze. Before I could react, a large hand yanked me into the dark room.

The door slammed shut, blocking the light from the hallway. I was pressed against the door, a man's hot breath against my ear, making me shiver. The familiar scent of pine filled my senses, but before I could identify it, I felt the warmth of his lips on me.

His fingers traced along my collar, the cool touch causing me to shudder. His body heat seemed to melt me, and my legs turned weak.

In the darkness, my senses sharpened. I felt him unbuttoning my clothes, my mouth becoming dry, my last shred of rationality cautioning me that this was going too far.

"Let me go!" I mustered all my strength to push him.

He stopped kissing me and chuckled. "No need to play hard to get."but he simply picked me up and threw me onto the bed.

The bed was soft, so I didn't feel any pain, but the impact made my head spin.

I attempted to get up, but he pinned me down. Soon, my clothes were gone, and we were both almost naked.

He pressed against me, ready. His domineering presence made me tremble. I pushed against his chest, biting my lip to remain calm and clear-headed.

"Mister, I think I entered the wrong room. Please let me go…" My voice quivered with tension.

"Tsk!" His voice was impatient, his tone frigid. "Still playing?"

He was about to get up and kick me out when the room light suddenly turned on. I had accidentally hit the light switch in my struggle.

I recognized him. The fear sobered me up instantly. I couldn't believe it—the man who almost violated me was Clark's uncle, Damon Summer!

"Uncle Damon…"

I had always been cautious of Damon. He was the youngest son of Richard Sumner and Marie Thorne, doted on by them and known for his unpredictable and cold nature.

Even outsiders avoided crossing him. When I married Clark, he had warned me to stay away from Damon.

"Shut up!" Damon's face was sullen, his gaze icy. Then, his eyes shifted to my bare chest, darkening even more. He turned away, getting off the bed. "Get dressed and get out!"

As Damon moved, I caught a glimpse of him where I shouldn't.

"Still not leaving?"

I couldn't care less about my embarrassment. I dressed up in a hurry and left without looking back.

Once I was outside, I checked the room number and realized my mistake. It wasn't Room 8919, but Room 8916!

I had entered the wrong room and almost slept with my husband's uncle. That thought made my headache even worse. Unfortunately, it was too late to regret now.

On my way back, I deliberated for a considerable period before ultimately sending a message to Damon, someone whose contact information I had possessed for three years but had never reached out to.

Uncle Damon... Can we feign that tonight never occurred? I was truly intoxicated and entered the wrong room.

I waited for an extended time, yet there was no reply from Damon. Frowning, I dispatched another message.

Immediately after I sent it, a red exclamation mark emerged: [You are no longer friends with this user. Please send a friend request to continue chatting.]

I compressed my lip. Damon had erased me. He surely did not wish to bring this up once more. Relieved, I finally experienced a modicum of peace.

When I arrived home, it was already beyond 6:00 a.m.

As soon as I opened the door, I witnessed Clark sitting on the sofa. He turned abruptly at the sound of the door, his eyes bloodshot due to a sleepless night.

"Where were you last night? I called you numerous times. Why didn't you respond?"

Clark stood up and strode rapidly towards me, reaching out to grasp my hand, but I withdrew it.

He stiffened, about to speak, but I spoke first, my tone frigid. "You can stay out all night, but I can't?" I had always been mild.

During our eight years together, we had scarcely ever quarreled. This was the first time I had spoken to him so coldly.

Clark sensed that something was amiss and noticed my red and swollen eyes. His expression altered, and his hand clenched at his side. "You know, don't you?" His voice was composed, without a hint of guilt or panic, as if he had anticipated this day to arrive.

Upon seeing his unapologetic manner, my long-suppressed emotions finally erupted. I flung my bag at him, my eyes red with rage, like a crazy woman.

All the wonderful times they had shared, all the happy moments, were shattered the moment I saw him in bed with another woman.

They could never be pieced together again. "Clark Sumner, how could you do something so revolting?! If you didn't love me anymore, you could have divorced me. Why did you have to hurt me like this?"

I had assumed that no third party could ever come between us. Unfortunately, reality dealt me a harsh blow, awakening me from the lies he had fabricated and turning my love for him into a jest.

Seeing my reddened, tear-filled eyes, He grasped my hand and drew me into his embrace. "Nyla, I’m sorry..."

I pushed him away, wanting to laugh but only tears emerged. "Don't touch me with your filthy hands!

"Is it that difficult to remain faithful?

"Since we got married, I’ve encountered many outstanding men, and some have shown interest in me. But I’ve never overstepped the line. If I can do it, why can't you?!"

Clark clenched his fists when he witnessed the disappointment and anger in my eyes.

"Nyla, you’re the only one I love… It was merely an accident with her…"

His explanation sounded so feeble that I found it both laughable and nauseating.

"So you’re saying I could sleep with another man and then tell you it was an accident? That I may have betrayed you physically, but my heart still belongs to you?"

A flash of ruthlessness crossed Clark's eyes. "If you dare, I’ll end you and that man together in bed."

Seeing his icy gaze, I felt a chill in my heart. If he knew betrayal was unforgivable, why would he still betray me?

I took a deep breath and spoke slowly. "Do you remember what I told you when you proposed?"

I had said that if he ever betrayed me, I would not forgive him but leave him.

Clark’s expression changed. "I will not let you leave!"

My heart was a mixture of ridicule and hatred. "Whether you agree or not, I’ve made up my mind. I’m divorcing you. You don’t deserve my forgiveness."

With that, I disregarded his reaction and went upstairs.

Back in the bedroom, I headed straight to the bathroom for a shower, unable to tolerate the smell of wine on myself.

While applying body wash, I noticed red marks on my chest and halted.

The image of Damon’s hands roaming my body flashed through my mind, causing me to frown.

I scrubbed the marks vigorously until the skin around them turned red, attempting to erase his touch.

After the shower, I saw Clark sitting on the bed with his head lowered, lost in thought. I disregard him. We would be divorced soon anyway.

Clark looked up and saw me coming out wrapped in just a towel.

I walked to the wardrobe to grab my pajamas when a pair of arms suddenly encircled me from behind.

"Nyla..." Clark's voice was hoarse, brimming with undisguised longing.

In the past, such conduct would have aroused my emotions, but all I felt at present was repugnance. I turned and shoved him away, my gaze filled with revulsion. "Don't touch me. I feel filthy."

He seized my hands, his expression sincere. "Didn't you always desire a child? Let's have one now, okay?"

I shook him off because of his matter-of-fact attitude. "That was in the past. I might have a child in the future, but it won't be yours."

My words enraged Clark. He grasped me and threw me onto the bed, pinning me down. "Say that again!"

His eyes were ablaze with anger, but I didn't care. "It doesn't matter how many times I repeat it. I'm repulsed by you. I'd rather die than have your child."

Just the mere thought of Clark kissing another woman the night before filled me with disgust and rage.

"Let go!"

As I struggled, my towel loosened, revealing my body. His gaze deepened, and he felt a rush of desire.

Our bodies were pressed tightly together, and I quickly noticed the change in Clark. Furious, I bit him hard, tasting blood in my mouth.

Instead of letting go, Clark's other hand slipped under my towel. I had nothing on underneath as I had just come out of the shower.

"Clark, get off me!"

Clark ignored me, his fingers teasing my sensitive spots. "Nyla, you need me too, don't you?"

My struggles were in vain, and I grew increasingly desperate. As Clark positioned himself, I closed my eyes in despair. "Clark, don't make me hate you."

Clark halted abruptly.

After several tense seconds, he suddenly released and got off the bed, leaving the room rapidly.

The door slammed shut with a loud bang, causing me to flinch.

For the next few days, Clark didn't return home.

I called him several times to discuss the divorce, but he didn't respond.

The weekend arrived. Clark entered, looking exhausted. We gazed at each other silently until I broke the silence, "Since you're back, let's discuss the divorce."

Clark frowned. "I told you, I won't divorce you. I'm here to remind you that we have to attend the family dinner tonight."

The family wasn't friendly to me and often treated me badly.

I endured it because I believed Clark loved me.

However, after seeing him with another woman, I couldn't deceive myself anymore. "I don't want to go. Go by yourself." Clark's expression became impatient. "Nyla, how long are you going to persist in this?"

"I'm not concealing anything. I merely desire a divorce."

"Divorce? You haven't held a job since our marriage. How will you sustain yourself? Which company would recruit you? And what about your father's excessive medical expenses? Can you afford them?

"Nyla, you're no longer a teenager. You're 28. It's time to mature.

"I'm the CEO of the Sumner Group. I encounter temptations constantly. Sometimes, it's difficult to resist, but those women will never replace you as my wife. What else do you want?"

Seeing Clark’s arrogant bearing, I couldn't identify this man with the shy boy who once blushed while confessing his love and vowing never to hurt me.

Maybe this was his true nature – selfish, proud, and patronizing."

"If being mature means tolerating your infidelity, then I'm sorry, I can't do that. Find someone else. Here are the divorce papers I've had drafted. Sign them when you have time."

Clark glanced at the documents, sneering when he saw the section on asset division."Quite the appetite you have, asking for half my assets. Do you really think that's possible?"

"I deserve it. Why not?"

Clark chuckled, his tone mocking. "Look around this house. Did you buy anything here? I've been covering your father's medical expenses for years. If we tally things up, you should be paying me. Should I have my lawyer do the math?"

As I watched his bitter expression, I couldn't believe I had once loved this man.He had hidden his true self so well that, until I caught him cheating, I had thought he was a great guy.

"Don't forget, if it weren't for me giving you that patent, you wouldn't be the Sumner Group's CEO. And you were the one who told me to stay home after we got married. If I had continued my research, I would have earned far more than what you've given me."

Unfazed, Clark replied, "Who would believe you about the patent now?

"I don't want to argue about money, but if you insist on a divorce, we'll have to settle accounts. Nyla, as long as you drop the divorce idea, my money is still yours to use."

Clark took out his phone and called his secretary. "Cancel my father-in-law's medical payment for next month—"

I grabbed his phone and ended the call. "You're crossing a line, Clark."

"Crossing a line?" Clark's gaze was full of contempt as he yanked her closer. "Everything you have is because of me. Don't you think you're the one crossing the line? Change your clothes, or I have numerous ways to make you comply."

"Let’s go," I said.

As we arrived and were about to get out of the car, a black Range Rover sped up and stopped abruptly in front of them.

Upon recognizing the car, Clark's expression darkened. It was Damon's car, someone he both feared and disliked.

Damon was known for his reckless and unpredictable behavior. He had refused to take over the Sumner Group when Richard wanted him to run the company, choosing to start his own business instead.

Everyone had expected him to fail, but within five years, his company had grown to be worth several times more than the Sumner Group.

Clark couldn't stand Damon, partly out of jealousy. Once, a comment Clark made about Damon reached Damon's ears, and in retaliation, Damon refused to collaborate with the Sumner Group, costing them millions.

"Let’s go," I said.

As we arrived and were about to get out of the car, a black Range Rover sped up and stopped abruptly in front of them.It was Damon's car,

I exhaled a deep breath. When Damon looked my way, I had forgotten to breathe as I was afraid that he might say something outrageous. He was renowned for his unpredictable nature and always did whatever he pleased. Fortunately, he remained silent.

I decided that she needed to have a private conversation with him later. Noticing my gaze fixed on Damon, Clark frowned. "Why are you staring at my uncle?" I diverted my gaze. "None of your business."

"My coldness irritated Clark. 'Nyla, you know I don’t like you paying attention to other men.'

Ever since we got together, Clark had been extremely possessive, not allowing me to interact with other men.

I used to think this was a sign of his love, but now it seemed ridiculous.

'And I don’t like you sleeping with other women, but you seem to enjoy it just fine.'

Clark said through gritted teeth, 'This is a family dinner. We’ll deal with this later. '

'If you don’t want me to bring it up, then stay out of my affairs,' I retorted."

"Nyla, have you lost your mind? Do you want everyone to know about our fight?"

“You were the one who cheated. What right do you have to be so self-righteous?"

"Then, I’ll have to silence you my way."

He seized my chin and kissed me fiercely. Just as his lips were about to touch mine, a soft cough interrupted from behind us.

"Clark, am I interrupting something?"

Clark stiffened suddenly. He strengthened his grip on my chin before gradually releasing me and turning to face Damon.

Meeting Damon's amused look, Clark forced a smile. "No. Uncle Damon, did you need something?"

Damon smiled. "Your grandma sent me to call you both for dinner."

"Thank you, Uncle Damon."

"No problem at all. But remember, this is the family home. Be cautious of your actions." As Damon spoke, he briefly glanced at the red mark on my chin, with mockery obvious in his gaze.
