I couldn’t breathe. I collapsed onto the floor as I watched them, tangled in sweat and sin.

I forced myself to stand. My face soaked in tears, I walked the hall to Elder Roland’s quarters. I would ask him to break our mate bond.

Inside it was an emerald ring, supposedly passed down from the pack’s second Luna—a gift I had dreamed of for so long.

I had been preparing all day for our five-year anniversary. I’d already imagined the diamond ring I’d glimpsed in his jacket the night before, now wrapped around my left ring finger. Smiling at the mirror, I convinced myself Alpha Alan truly loved me.

He held my hand as we descended the grand staircase of the pack house. All the guests turned to smile at us. Then it happened.

“You look stunning tonight, darling,” he said again.

Alpha Alan pulled out the small velvet box. I assumed it was the emerald heirloom—it was in the same case, after all.

Reality slapped me hard across the face.

I had been so foolishly confident that I was the only Luna in his heart.

“Do you like it?” he asked.

I gave a dumb nod, my mind racing. Why the ruby? Who was the diamond ring really for?

Then I saw her—Alice. Walking through the crowd with her signature smug smile. She handed me a small gift. But I wasn’t looking at the box—I was staring at her fingers.

The diamond ring was on her left hand.

Just a month ago, Alan told me that ring didn’t suit me—the diamond was "too pale."

And I believed him.

I saw him watching her—tracking Alice with his eyes—even as he stood next to me. Then his phone rang. He answered, then looked at me with feigned urgency.

“Sweetheart, a pack emergency just came up. I have to go, but I won’t be long. I’ll be back before midnight, I promise.”

Before I could say anything, he kissed my cheek and rushed off, leaving me to deal with nosy guests who praised his dedication to the pack.

Celebrating a mate bond anniversary alone might be the most pathetic thing I’ve ever done. I found myself standing on the balcony, hugging myself against the bitter winter wind. But even that cold couldn’t compare to the ache inside me.

I felt hollow—until a notification buzzed on my phone.

It was from Beta Alice.

I hesitated, then opened the message. My breath caught in my throat.

Photos. Videos.

Alan wasn’t dealing with any emergency.

He was in bed with Alice again, asleep beside her. His mark was fresh on her neck.

My hands trembled as I examined the background. I knew that room. I knew it too well.

I ran. Straight to our master bedroom.

I didn’t even need to open the door fully—my ears picked up everything. The moans. The filthy whispers. My heart shattered completely.

I pulled out my phone and hit record. I wanted proof—something undeniable. Something no lie could cover.

Now I had it.

They couldn’t deny it anymore.

Their little act was over.

My hands covered my mouth as sobs spilled from me. I ran back to the balcony, collapsed to the floor, and cried like a fool.

How could he? After five years together, how could Alpha Alan betray me like this—with my own sister, in our home, for Moon Goddess knows how long?

My entire body shook. I couldn’t even hold onto my phone properly. My tears kept flowing, and I wiped my cheeks in frustration.
