Rejected by the Alpha, Claimed by the King

The forest blurred around me as I raced through the moonlit trees, my paws barely touching the ground. Something was wrong. The urgent howl from my family's territory had awakened both me and my wolf, Echo, from restless sleep. Her voice inside my mind was frantic. *Maya, hurry. It's Leo. Something's happened to Leo.* I pushed harder, my lungs burning as I leaped over fallen logs and ducked under low branches. The Thompson homestead came into view, a modest cabin at the edge of Silver Moon territory that had been in our family for generations. The scent hit me before I saw him—blood, fear, and the acrid stench of rogue wolves. "Leo!" I cried out, shifting back to human form as I stumbled toward the crumpled figure by the porch steps.

Chapter 1 of Rejected by the Alpha, Claimed by the King

The Pack Talent Ceremony was supposed to be Layla's moment to shine. As Luna of the Moonveil Pack, I had watched my daughter practice for months, her fingers dancing across the keys of our family's sacred piano with the grace of someone touched by the Moon Goddess herself. The Collins heirloom had been blessed generations ago, and when Layla played, I swear I could feel our ancestors' spirits humming along with the melody.

But now, standing outside the pack house restroom, my heart hammered against my ribs as I heard muffled sobs from behind the locked door.

"Layla?" I called, my Luna authority making my voice carry despite my growing panic. "Sweetheart, what's wrong?"

The lock clicked, and the door swung open to reveal my daughter—my beautiful, talented daughter—with tears streaming down her face and coffee stains splattered across her pristine white performance dress. The fabric clung to her skin where the liquid had soaked through, and the carefully arranged curls I'd helped pin up this morning now hung limp and disheveled.

"Mom," she whispered, her voice breaking. "I can't... the competition... it's over."

My wolf stirred restlessly beneath my skin, sensing the injustice that hung in the air like smoke. That's when I noticed her—Morgan's sister, standing just far enough away to appear innocent, clutching an empty coffee cup with a smirk playing at the corners of her mouth.

"Oh my," she said, her voice dripping with false concern. "What a terrible accident. I was just bringing Layla some coffee to calm her nerves before her performance, and she must have bumped into me when I knocked on the door."

Lies. Every word tasted like ash in the air between us.

Layla's shoulders shook as she pressed against me, and I wrapped my arms around her protectively. "She locked me in," my daughter whispered so quietly only I could hear. "She threw the coffee at me and locked the door. I tried to get out, but—"

"Shh," I murmured, stroking her hair while my eyes never left Morgan's sister. The girl's satisfaction was poorly concealed behind her mask of innocence, and my Luna instincts screamed warnings. "We'll fix this."

But even as I said the words, I knew it was too late. The piano competition had already concluded, and when I marched Layla to the judges' table, their response was as cold as winter wind.

"I'm sorry, Luna Collins," the head judge said without looking up from his papers. "The competition has ended. Late entries cannot be accepted, regardless of circumstances."

"This is my daughter," I said, letting my Luna authority color my voice. "She was deliberately sabotaged—"

"The rules are the rules." His dismissal cut through me like a blade. "Perhaps next year she'll be more punctual."

The injustice of it burned in my chest as I led Layla away, her dreams shattered as surely as if someone had taken a hammer to our family piano. But this was just the beginning.

Later, in Leonard's office, I laid out the evidence like pieces of a puzzle that painted a clear picture of deliberation and malice. An Omega named Sarah had witnessed the entire incident—had seen Morgan's sister deliberately lock the door and heard her cruel laughter as Layla pounded on the wood from inside.

"Leonard," I said, my voice steady despite the storm raging inside me. "This wasn't an accident. Your Beta's sister deliberately sabotaged our daughter."

My mate—the man who had sworn before the Moon Goddess to stand beside me—barely glanced up from his paperwork. "Edith, you're overreacting. Children have disagreements. It's part of pack life."

"Disagreements?" The word came out sharper than I intended. "She locked our daughter in a bathroom and ruined her dress minutes before the most important performance of her young life."

Finally, Leonard looked at me, and what I saw in his eyes made my blood run cold. Not the warm amber I'd fallen in love with, but something distant and calculating. "Pack unity is more important than petty disputes between children. Morgan is my most trusted Beta, and I won't have her family targeted by baseless accusations."

"Baseless?" I stepped closer to his desk, my Luna power crackling in the air around us. "I have a witness—"

"An Omega whose word means nothing against a Beta's family." Leonard's voice carried the finality of an Alpha command. "Drop this, Edith. If you continue to pursue this matter, I'll strip Layla of her Delta status. Is that what you want for our daughter?"

The threat hit me like a physical blow. My own mate—threatening our child to protect his precious Beta's reputation. Something fundamental shifted inside me, like a foundation cracking beneath the weight of too much betrayal.

But the worst was yet to come.

At the ceremony's closing banquet, Leonard rose from his seat at the head table, his voice carrying across the gathered pack members. "Before we conclude tonight's festivities, I'd like to make a special announcement."

I watched from my place beside him, dread pooling in my stomach as his words continued.

"As a gesture of pack unity and to encourage musical development among our younger members, I'm gifting the Collins family piano to our talented young pack member—Morgan's sister."

The world tilted. Around us, pack members applauded politely, but their voices sounded distant and hollow. That piano—blessed by the Moon Goddess, passed down through five generations of Collins Lunas, the instrument where I'd first taught Layla to play—was being handed to the girl who had deliberately destroyed my daughter's dreams.

I turned to Leonard, searching his face for some sign that this was a cruel joke, but he refused to meet my eyes. Across the room, Morgan smiled triumphantly, her satisfaction radiating like heat from a fire.

The sacred bond between us—the mate connection blessed by the Moon Goddess herself—felt like it was withering inside my chest, dying a slow and painful death with every beat of my breaking heart.

Betrayed Luna Finds True Love
Betrayed Luna Finds True Love
I woke up with that familiar churning in my stomach, the third morning in a row. My inner wolf, Lily, stirred restlessly as I bolted to the bathroom, barely making it before emptying what little remained in my stomach from last night's dinner. '*This has to be it*,' I thought, pressing my palm against my still-flat abdomen. After three years as Ryan's Luna, the Moon Goddess had finally blessed us. I splashed cold water on my face and brushed my teeth, studying my reflection. My skin glowed despite the nausea, and my wolf seemed unusually protective, urging me to rest more, eat better. All the signs were there. "We need to be sure before we tell him," I whispered to Lily, who hummed in agreement. I padded back to our bedroom, noticing Ryan had left his laptop open on his desk. He'd rushed out before dawn for an emergency meeting with neighboring packs—at least that's what he'd said.

Just like the evening breeze leaves no trace
Just like the evening breeze leaves no trace
Chapter 1 It was their seventh wedding anniversary. Carolyn found the divorce agreement in Roger’s nightstand. The pages were covered in scribbles and corrections, as if he’d agonized over them for years. *"If, during the marriage, I fall in love with another person, I voluntarily relinquish all assets and leave with nothing. Asset details as follows…"* His first impulse had been to walk away empty-handed. But the asset section told a different story—a mess of revisions. First, he’d crossed out the property he intended to give her. Then, the fifty million earmarked for her was scratched out and replaced with five hundred thousand. Finally, as if in penance, he had written a single line. *"Better to have Carolyn leave with nothing. No choice, Catherine is pregnant."* … Carolyn sank onto the bed, disbelief washing over her. On the agreement, Roger’s signature was clean and decisive, without a hint of hesitation. And the document had been drafted seven years ago—the very year they married. That year, Roger had been willing to give up everything for her. Yet every year after, he had crossed out another piece of their shared life. Now, seven years later, the one leaving with nothing would be her. Her phone buzzed abruptly. A message from Roger. *"Urgent business. Won't be back."* She called, only to find his phone already switched off. Another notification flashed—a screenshot from a friend. Catherine, the student she sponsored, had posted on social media. *"Wow, got praised! To commemorate my first period without a leak, the big boss said we should celebrate properly!"* In a nine-photo collage, Roger gazed at her, eyes crinkling with affection as he fastened a dazzling gemstone necklace around her neck. The post was tagged at a couples-themed hotel. Carolyn’s breath caught. He couldn’t remember seven years of marriage, of weathering storms together—but he could find the energy to celebrate Catherine’s… leak-free period. And that pendant… she’d seen it at an auction just last week. It was her mother’s lost heirloom. She’d been ready to bid when her bank card was frozen. She’d asked Roger why. A long time later, he finally texted back, telling her not to waste money on such impractical things. Clutching her bidding paddle, she’d sat helplessly in the auction hall. In the end, she resolved to sell one of her own designs to raise the funds. But someone on the phone swooped in with an unbeatable offer and took it. For weeks afterward, Carolyn hated herself—hated that she couldn’t protect her mother’s last keepsake. She never imagined the one who snatched it away was Roger. He knew exactly how much that pendant meant to her. Yet he gave it to Catherine. Even on their seventh anniversary, Roger had lied about being busy with work, while wining and dining the girl she’d sponsored. The anniversary gift he left her was a divorce agreement demanding she leave with nothing. Seven years of marriage. Seven years of infidelity. And Carolyn had known nothing. She’d even introduced the other woman to him herself. Catherine was the impoverished student Carolyn sponsored. The first time Catherine came to their home to give thanks, Roger found her intrusive and disliked her on sight. *"That girl has no manners. Tracked mud all over my cashmere rug."* *"If her grades aren’t up to par, cut the sponsorship."* Back then, Carolyn had teased him, saying not to be jealous—it was good the girl had a grateful heart. She never once suspected Roger and Catherine. For seven years, everyone in their circle believed Roger never played around. That he loved only Carolyn. But by their next meeting, Catherine had become Roger’s personal assistant. Roger explained, *"The girl’s had it tough. You’ve sponsored her for years. Giving her a job is just helping you out."* Carolyn had laughed it off. Now, hands trembling, she opened Catherine’s social media feed. Catherine had always hidden her posts from Carolyn. Now, she seemed desperate to flaunt everything. While Carolyn drank until her stomach bled to secure a deal for Roger, Catherine was using Roger’s card to buy her first Louis Vuitton. While Carolyn changed bedpans for Roger’s bedridden grandmother, Roger was taking Catherine to a perfume atelier for a blending class—calling it a business trip. Catherine had even complained online. *"Your wife is such a pampered princess. Can't handle the tiniest thing without you running back. Can she not live without a man?"* And Roger had replied beneath it. *"If she were half as independent as you, I’d have an easier life."* But that day… Carolyn’s mother had lost her battle with cancer. She’d cried until her heart felt shredded, scrambling to handle the arrangements. All the while, Roger kept checking his phone impatiently, eager to leave. Not for work, she realized now—but because he was desperate to get back to Catherine.

Luna Walking Away: Defying the Alpha’s Cruelty
Luna Walking Away: Defying the Alpha’s Cruelty
"A toast," Eden declared as servants began distributing crystal glasses filled with deep red wine. "To new beginnings." My stomach clenched as a server approached me with a tray. I started to shake my head—everyone in the pack knew of my severe allergy to alcohol. It had been documented since I became Luna; Eden himself had always ensured non-alcoholic alternatives were available at every gathering. But before I could decline, Eden was suddenly before me, taking a glass from the tray himself. His eyes, once warm amber pools I could drown in, were now cold and distant as he extended the wine toward me. "Surely our former Luna will join us in celebrating this momentous occasion," he said, loud enough for nearby pack members to hear. His emphasis on "former" cut through me like a blade. "Eden," I whispered, my voice barely audible even to werewolf ears. "You know I can't—" "Drink," he commanded, his Alpha tone washing over me like a physical force. "Honor our new Luna. Your new Luna."
