My Alpha Rejected Me for His Mistress, Then Begged Back

Eight years. Eight years of sleepless nights, of pouring over maps and intelligence reports, of calling in favors from pack leaders who owed me nothing, of fighting battles that weren't mine just to keep the Crescent Pack breathing. And today, after three grueling weeks of negotiation that nearly broke my body, I had finally done the impossible. I had secured the Lycan Council's protection treaty. The signed documents were still warm in my hands when Elena Sorin fell into step beside me in the pack house corridor. The Council envoy was a composed woman with sharp eyes and a sharper mind, someone I had come to genuinely respect over these past weeks. She gave me a small, approving nod as we walked. 'You should rest, Jocelyn,' she said quietly. 'What you just accomplished — that hasn't been done in three decades.' I almost smiled. Almost.

Chapter 1 of My Alpha Rejected Me for His Mistress, Then Begged Back

'What you just accomplished — that hasn't been done in three decades.'

I almost smiled. Almost.

I was seven months along, and my body felt every single day of it. My lower back had been a steady, burning complaint since sunrise. My feet were swollen inside my boots. But I had learned a long time ago not to let pain show in front of people who might use it against me.

I was nearly to Jayson's office when a gentle hand caught my elbow.

'Hey. Stop. Just for one second.'

Petra Vane. The pack healer was the one person in this entire building who looked at me like I was actually a person rather than a walking strategy manual. She was scanning my face with that quiet, clinical concern that never quite left her eyes these days.

'You're exhausted,' she said flatly. It wasn't a question.

'I'm fine.'

'You're not.' She pressed two fingers gently to my wrist, checking my pulse with practiced efficiency. Her frown deepened. 'Jocelyn, the stress you're under right now—' She hesitated, lowering her voice. 'It's not good for the pup. You need to slow down.'

I placed my free hand over my belly. A reflex. Something I'd started doing weeks ago without even meaning to. 'I just need to deliver this treaty. Then I'll rest.'

Petra looked like she had more to say. She always did. But she read something in my expression and let me go, squeezing my hand once before stepping back.

I straightened my spine and walked to the Alpha's office.

I smelled it before I even touched the door handle.

Sweet. Floral. Thick and cloying in a way that turned my stomach. A she-wolf's scent, wound so tightly around Jayson's woodsy musk that they had clearly been close for a long time. Far longer than today.

I opened the door.

They were tangled together on his desk. Papers scattered. His shirt half-open. The woman pulling herself upright was young, pretty in an angular way, with dark hair and the cold, calculating eyes of someone who had practiced being charming for so long she'd forgotten what genuine looked like.

Camila Vargas. Marcus's assistant. She fixed her blouse with the unhurried ease of someone who wanted me to know she wasn't afraid.

Jayson ran a hand through his hair.

There it was. That particular gesture. I had spent years learning to read him. That slow drag of fingers through dark hair meant he was scrambling for a story that worked in his favor.

'Jocelyn—' he started.

'She doesn't need an explanation,' Camila cut in. Her voice was smooth, polished, and absolutely vicious. 'She needs to understand her place.' She looked me up and down with the careful disdain of someone examining something they'd stepped in. 'You're unranked. You're pregnant with a pup that's frankly an embarrassment to this pack's bloodline, and you have been a weak, useless liability to the Crescent Pack for years. Alpha Jayson deserves a real Luna. Someone worthy. Step aside.'

The room was very quiet.

Jayson didn't correct her. He widened his stance instead, squaring his shoulders, and when he spoke his voice carried the heavy, suffocating weight of Alpha authority — that tone designed to press down on every instinct I had until I simply obeyed.

'Leave the pack house, Jocelyn. This is for the good of the pack.'

For the good of the pack.

I felt my hand settle firmer against my belly. I felt something inside me go very, very still — the kind of stillness that comes right before a decision becomes irreversible.

'All right,' I said.

My voice was calm. Quiet. The way a room goes quiet before the roof caves in.

'I'll go.'

Jayson's shoulders dropped half an inch in relief. Camila smiled.

I let them have exactly three seconds of that.

'Before I do,' I continued, 'you should know that sixty seconds ago, I mind-linked Elena Sorin in the hallway.' I set the treaty documents gently on the nearest chair. 'I told her to cancel it. The protection treaty I just spent three weeks bleeding for — it no longer exists.'

The silence that followed was a different kind entirely.

After My Husband Chose His Mistress Over Our Dying Daughter
After My Husband Chose His Mistress Over Our Dying Daughter
While recovering from childbirth, my husband, Damien, was brought home drunk from a bar by some friends, with a woman at his side. He vomited everywhere, and I silently stayed by his side all night. When he finally opened his eyes, the first thing he said was, "She's pregnant. Let's get divorced." I didn't cry or make a scene, just calmly nodded. In my past life, I took my wrapped-up baby out into the street and caused a commotion. Soon, the woman was known as a homewrecker across our small town, and in her despair, she jumped into a river. Damien was fired for misconduct, but he never blamed me. On our daughter's first birthday, he set fire to the yard, killing me, our child, and my parents. In those final moments, I saw his twisted smile as he said, "Go down and keep my Gwendolyn company." Then, I opened my eyes again, back to the moment he told me about the divorce. "Gwendolyn is different from you.
Betrayed Luna Finds True Love
Betrayed Luna Finds True Love
I woke up with that familiar churning in my stomach, the third morning in a row. My inner wolf, Lily, stirred restlessly as I bolted to the bathroom, barely making it before emptying what little remained in my stomach from last night's dinner. '*This has to be it*,' I thought, pressing my palm against my still-flat abdomen. After three years as Ryan's Luna, the Moon Goddess had finally blessed us. I splashed cold water on my face and brushed my teeth, studying my reflection. My skin glowed despite the nausea, and my wolf seemed unusually protective, urging me to rest more, eat better. All the signs were there. "We need to be sure before we tell him," I whispered to Lily, who hummed in agreement. I padded back to our bedroom, noticing Ryan had left his laptop open on his desk. He'd rushed out before dawn for an emergency meeting with neighboring packs—at least that's what he'd said.

But Benjamin pointed at me and accused me of being heartless. Not long after, I saw Nora's post on Facebook: "Ben is divorcing for me and the child! Finally, we have a place to call home." Without a word, I liked the post, signed the divorce papers, and applied to return to the UK. When my manager, Arlette Hernandez, saw my application, she seemed surprised.
