In the modern novel Divorcing Me Is My Ex-husband's Regret, a tragic romance novel turns cold. When her husband abandons her dying mother for his childhood sweetheart, she decides she is finally done. Heartbroken and grieving, she resolves to hand him over to the scheming woman and never look back.

Chapter 1 of Divorcing Me Is My Ex-husband's Regret

My mom's heart disease relapsed, and my husband said he would come back immediately to take her to the hospital.

But he was called away by a phone call from his little sweetheart midway, causing my mom to miss the best time for treatment and die on the same day.

That night, his little sweetheart posted a photo of them drinking together on social media: [If I hadn't been absent back then, I should be the one marrying him now.]

By my mom's body, heartbroken, I replied casually, "Scheming Bitch, it's yours from now on."

1

After handling my mom's affairs, I blocked all of Chris Savage's contact information.

For two years of marriage, whenever Bella needed him, Chris would always rush to her side first.

As for me, by the time he realized, I had already solved all the problems on my own.

At the critical moment when my mom's life was in danger, I thought he would prioritize what mattered most.

But his disregard for me went beyond my limits.

Since he didn't care about my mom's life or death, it meant he had no feelings for me at all.

I wiped my tears and went back to our home.

It used to be the place I longed for every day after work.

But now, I saw it as a prison.

Just as I reached the door, I heard Bella's coquettish voice inside.

"It's all my fault. If I hadn't twisted my ankle, you could have gone to help Lucy."

I sneered.

Though she said this, every time I needed Chris, she would always intervene and take him away, then pretend to take the blame afterward to gain Chris's sympathy.

Poor acting.

But Chris always fell for it.

Chris spoke with a gentleness I had never felt before.

"Bella, how can you blame yourself? If I don't go, she'll just call an ambulance. But you can't be left without someone to take care of you.

"And it's just a heart attack, one attack won't kill you."

I was filled with resentment.

What did he mean by "one attack won't kill you?" It was precisely because of this one attack that my mom couldn't make it!

Because I trusted his words that he would come back immediately, I failed to call an ambulance in time, causing my mom to miss the best time for rescue!

I suddenly threw open the door.

At that moment, Bella Molley was half leaning in Chris's arms.

Chris was affectionately stroking her head.

When he saw me come back, Chris was stunned but made no move to push Bella away.

Their intimacy in front of me was nothing new.

In the past, I would have made a scene and then lost in Bella's "weak and aggrieved" act.

But now, I no longer cared.

I looked at them and said curtly, "Very good."

Then I ignored them and went straight to the bedroom.

My disregard seemed to hurt Chris's pride, and he frowned.

"Lucy, how's your mom doing?"

My mom?

Wasn't she having a name familiar to him?

After being married for so long, he still refuses to change his way of speaking!

I stayed silent and continued packing my things.

Chris clicked his tongue and called out to the bedroom.

"I'm asking you a question. Stop acting like a blockhead."

I dragged my suitcase in front of him and coldly retorted, "Don't you always wish I was a blockhead? That way, no one would disturb you both."

At this moment, I noticed Bella's slippers.

They were my favorite pair.

Chris knew I had a cleanliness obsession but still let her wear them.

And there were no signs of any ankle injury on her.

Bella pretended to be in pain, let out a cry of discomfort, and fell into Chris's arms.

She cast a glance at me, as if declaring her ownership of Chris.

Chris immediately embraced her upon seeing this, tenderly massaging her in concern.

Bella pretended to be understanding and said, "Lucy, I'm sorry. If I hadn't sprained my ankle and couldn't go to the hospital on my own, Chris wouldn't have had to come take care of me."

Her way of scheming was disgusting.

Chris also feigned sincerity and said, "I was actually planning to visit the hospital. How's it over there?"

Watching their performative exchange, I suddenly felt ridiculous.

From dating to marriage, I loved Chris for five years, considering him as my one and only.

Yet he never cared about my concerns!

I remembered what my mother said to me before she passed away.

She said, "Lucie, don't hold on to things that can't be kept. Be happy, so I can leave in peace."

I took a deep breath and said, "Chris, let's get a divorce!"

2

At the moment I said this, I felt a profound sense of calm.

In the past, when Chris disregarded my feelings for Bella, I always found various excuses to convince myself that his feelings for Bella were just platonic.

But his constant favoritism toward Bella made it impossible for me to convince myself any longer.

Chris looked stunned, showing a hint of impatience. "Divorce? Lucy, what are you making a fuss about now?"

I coldly replied, "I'm not making a fuss or asking; I'm announcing it to you."

Chris still thought I was angry because he didn't come back in time.

"Your mom's heart was in trouble and she needed an ambulance, but Bella wasn't around and I didn't know where she was. If I didn't go, how would she make it back?"

Bella had been to my house countless times; I don't know how clueless she must be to not find my place.

I'm tired of hearing the same excuses over and over!

Every time Chris left me for Bella, he would always come up with various reasons to blame me.

But he forgot that I was his girlfriend and now his wife.

When we first got together, Chris said he saw Bella as a sister and that I shouldn't be jealous.

Since she was family, I agreed.

So, I tolerated him tending to Bella when she injured her finger, choosing to take care of Bella over me when I was sick;

I allowed him to prioritize Bella when she wanted to travel over returning home with me at my mother's request;

Even when Bella claimed to be lonely in another city and Chris went to accompany her, he even delayed our wedding for several days.

If my mother hadn't called him, he might not have come back at all.

I complied with all his preferences.

But this consideration only led to more reckless harm.

They were slowly wearing down my patience, and when my mother passed away in regret, I was finally completely disheartened.

I looked coldly at Chris. "It has nothing to do with my mother; I just don't want to be with you anymore. I'll handle the divorce paperwork, and you just need to sign it."

Chris thought I was just throwing a tantrum and said domineeringly, "Stop being unreasonable. I've told you, I only see Bella as a sister!"

When I used to make a fuss, he always used this stern tone to make me "stop."

I remained calm. "Do I look like I'm joking?"

Chris's expression froze, and when he saw I was about to leave, he immediately got up to block my way, his tone softening a bit.

"If you have any dissatisfaction, you shouldn't act like this. I've told you before, I only see Bella as a sister. Why are you always so jealous?"

It's really laughable; he still doesn't understand the crux of the matter.

I scoffed. "Have you ever seen anyone so affectionate with a sister and disregard their wife's well-being?

"Moreover, you think too highly of yourself. You don't deserve to make me jealous!"

I had wanted to say this countless times before.

But I was always afraid he would leave me, so I tiptoed around everything, accommodating every situation.

But now, I didn't have to worry about that anymore.

I paused in my steps. "I forgot to mention, you and Bella are actually a better match."

Wasn't it?

A toad and rotten mud, a perfect match.

Chris opened his mouth, but Bella spoke up first.

"It's good you realize we're a good match. If I hadn't gone to another city and if you hadn't said your mother was dying, how could Chris agree to be with you?"

Mentioning my mother made me furious.

I stormed up to Bella and slapped her hard.

"Who do you think you are? This is not a place for you to speak!"

3

At this moment, I used all my strength.

Bella fell to the ground with a thud.

She probably never expected me to act, and for a moment, she was caught off guard.

As for Chris...

When he saw the red handprint on Bella's face, he immediately became furious.

He grabbed my neck roughly and pushed me back.

My head hit the door, and the instant dizziness almost made me lose consciousness.

I touched the back of my head and found my hand covered in bright red blood.

This was Chris's first time hitting me, and he showed no mercy.

He helped Bella up, his face filled with murderous intent.

"Lucy, do you want to die?"

I endured the pain and got up, not showing any weakness. "She doesn't have the right to speak about me, let alone mention my mother!"

Chris's expression changed when he saw the blood on my hand.

"You shouldn't have hit her."

I sneered. "If not now, when should I?"

"Are you out of your mind?"

"I am out of my mind. I should never have been with you in the first place."

Before Chris could respond, Bella, who had regained her composure, suddenly changed from her usual weak self and started hurling insults at me.

"Bitch, don't act like Chris is going to marry you or something. If you hadn't clung to Chris so shamelessly, and if he hadn't taken pity on you, how could he have ended up with you, let alone marry you?"

I looked at Chris, but he turned his head away.

Meanwhile, Bella continued to scream loudly.

"My face hurts so much!"

Chris asked her gently, "I've already paid her back. Look, her head is bleeding."

Su Ran was relentless. "That's not enough. I want her to apologize to me in person and bow before me!"

After a slight hesitation, Chris looked at me with an expression that left no room for refusal.

"Did you hear that? Bow."

I shivered inside, never expecting he would make me, his wife, bow for another woman.

I guess it makes sense. He's a wealthy and powerful young man, while I'm just an ugly duckling from a rural area.

I remember when I proposed marriage to him, he only coldly responded, "Let's see how you perform."

At that time, my mother had been diagnosed with a heart condition. She jokingly said on her sickbed that it would be nice if she could see me married before she passed away.

So, I went to extreme lengths to be submissive to him, giving in to his every demand.

I wouldn't say a single "no" to anything he said.

I thought he was just naturally this way, but when he brought Bella in front of me, I realized I was the fool.

Whenever Bella was present, I felt like an intruder, a sinner who ruined their warm relationship. Even their intimacy made me feel inferior.

I once gathered the courage to ask him if he preferred Bella over me.

His gaze turned cold as he said, "Don't compare. You're not the same."

Although he didn't explicitly say it, I still understood Bella's status in his heart.

I couldn't compare.

But at that time, I foolishly thought that as long as he didn't leave me, I could tolerate everything about him.

Now, it seems I am not only incomparable but also nothing at all.

"Hurry up, bow! As long as you apologize, I can overlook you hitting Bella!"

Chris was giving me orders again.

From a high position, showing no mercy.

He always thinks that as long as he shows me a little favor, I will obey him completely.

But that was in the past!

I sneered. "If you want me to bow, then let her atone for my mother!"

4

Chris furrowed his brows tightly; my occasional resistance made him lose his patience gradually.

"Lucy, as long as you behave, I'll send your mother to the most famous heart disease hospital abroad. Otherwise, just wait for her to die."

Before I could speak, Bella linked her arm with Chris's, pouting and said, "Chris, don't give her any more chances. She's not worthy of you, and she might have been deceiving you all along just to get you back. She's so lowly."

She really knows how to rub salt in someone's wounds.

I angrily yelled, "Shut up, you scheming bitch!"

Finally...

Chris completely lost his patience with those words. He scolded me loudly. "Show some respect to Bella!"

He pinned me to the ground, making it impossible for me to resist.

Then, Bella walked up to me triumphantly and kicked me hard in the stomach.

Intense pain shot through my lower abdomen. My legs went weak, and I slumped to the ground, blood streaming from between my legs.

The obvious bloodstains made Chris frown deeply, his gaze filled with shock as he looked at me, as if asking.

He wasn't concerned when my head was bleeding, but his attitude was completely different now.

At that moment, a strong sense of revenge surged up in me, and I forced a bitter smile.

"Just as you thought, Mr. Savage, your child is gone."

Finally, Chris's face changed color.

He exclaimed, "What did you say!?"
