I was only freed on the third day.
Since I was a doctor,even in the most dangerous time,I still protected the child inside me.
Yet Marcus continued to keep me trapped in the villa.
To get my medical license back,I had no choice but to follow Marcus’s orders and wait on Athena.
Within one week,I went through all kinds of suffering.
If the soup I made was a little too hot,Athena would knock it down at once.The hot soup splashed over me,leaving one burn after another.
Marcus only paid attention to the small red mark on Athena’s hand.
Seeing how worried he was,I suddenly remembered that before,when I once cut my hand by accident,Marcus had urgently called doctors from the whole hospital.
He once said,“You are a doctor.Your hands are the most valuable.I protect you and your dream.”
But my hands were now filled with blisters from burns,and he did not even spare them a look.
Maybe Marcus had never changed.Only his love had moved to someone else.
I stood frozen at the side.After Marcus spread ointment again and again on Athena’s hand,he finally noticed me.
He frowned,glanced at my wound,and said in a cold tone,“Next time,don’t serve soup that hot.Athena did not mean to do it.Go upstairs and treat it yourself.”
I nodded with no expression and turned to walk upstairs.
When I looked in the mirror at the many scars on my body,Athena’s harsh face suddenly appeared in my mind.
Suddenly,I heard the sound of a photo being taken behind me.
I turned around in surprise and anger and saw Athena standing there.
Her eyes were bright with pride.The way she stared at the scars on my body was like she was admiring her best creation.
“Savannah,the scars on you still haven’t faded?That’s good.These marks are meant to stay with you forever.They suit you so well.”
She waved her phone,and a cruel smile showed at the corner of her lips.
“Speaking of that,our old classmates used to pay attention to you.If you hadn’t suddenly moved schools and gone away,we wouldn’t have lost such a fun toy.I heard you’re now a famous doctor on the internet.”
“If I post these pictures,I wonder how they will look at you then.”
After she said that,she quickly unlocked her phone.
I looked up in disbelief and suddenly jumped forward.
“You’re crazy!Delete those pictures for me!”
Athena lifted her phone high.When she saw the pain on my face,she looked even more pleased.
“Savannah,you will stay under my shadow all your life.A worthless worm like you thinks you can have a better life than me?I take away everything,your reputation,your husband,and even the child in your belly!”
The heat of pain and anger covered me completely.In strong fear,I suddenly knocked Athena onto the ground.
“Go to hell!”I slapped her over and over without stopping.
Strangely,Athena did not fight back and even looked proud.
She spoke softly,“You’ve fallen for it,idiot.”
Before I could understand,someone pushed me down hard.
“Savannah!”
Marcus’s angry shout sounded behind me.
He carefully picked Athena up,and when he looked at me,his eyes were full of anger.
I hurried to explain,“She was about to post the scars on my body on the internet.She bullied me.I just…”
“Enough!”Marcus cut me off in an annoyed tone.
“How many more wrong things do you want to do to Athena using this excuse?”
His eyes toward me were full of hatred.
“Athena already explained that she was only playing a joke with you back then.There was no bullying at all.As for the scars on your body,no one even knows how they appeared.”
“But you blamed everything on Athena.Now it seems that even if you were bullied before,you deserved it!”
With a bang,my mind turned blank right away.
I stared at Marcus blankly,as if something inside me had fully broken apart.

He clearly knew that the time I was bullied almost ruined my whole life,and that it was still a shadow over me even now.
I had thought that no matter how much we argued,the last piece of pride between us was still kept.
But right then,his words were like a knife,stabbing into my heart over and over.
The severe pain made me choke,and I could not say a word.
I simply watched Marcus carry Athena away from the house.Before he stepped out,he told the bodyguards,“Hold my wife down and make her kneel facing the house.She can get up when I return.”
In the next moment,they shoved me down to the ground.
The hurt and anger burst out at that moment.I could not hold it in anymore and shouted,“I am the one who was hurt.Why won’t you believe me?I hate you,Marcus!”
Marcus steps paused for a second,then walked away without looking back.
