I smiled wryly as Ernest carried Felice onto the stage. Ernest provided a chair for Felice to sit next to him. They looked intimate as they cut the cake together.
Slowly my tears began to fall because I was supposed to be my husband's best man.
"I hear you already know that Ernest and Felice are in a relationship. How do they fit in, Victoria?" asked my stepmother, who suddenly came and sat next to me.
I looked at her sharply, the old woman was the main destroyer of my family's life.
"Right, they seem like a perfect match to me. Both of them are assholes. Apparently your family has always been very fond of trash," I said with a lopsided smile.
"Damn you, Victoria!" my stepmother said and slapped me hard.
I smiled at her. "Isn't what I said right? Mom and Felice have always loved other people's junk. You all look like scavengers," I replied as I gave her a sharp look.
"You ignorant child, I've taken care of you, but you don't respect me," she replied, pouring a glass of water over my dress.
My hands were clenched tightly, my body felt very hot. I looked at her sharply.
"You crazy woman! You ruined my fucking family!" I replied and poured her a glass of juice.
"What's going on?" asked Ernest, who had arrived with Felice.
"Victoria is trying to insult you, look at her splashing you and even slapping you," my stepmother replied, making my eyes round perfectly.
"I didn't do it. She started it all, Ernest," I replied irritably.
"Victoria Why are you being mean to our family? My mom has taken care of you all these years. Why are you repaying us like this?" Felice said tearfully.
Everyone looked at me with hateful eyes. They muttered to each other how horrible I was.
"Victoria, are you out of your mind? You ruined my party. And you insulted Mom. Why are you such a bad woman?" Ernest replied.
My body froze, holding my eyes from crying. They were all very good at acting, which made everyone judge me badly.
"I'm not a bad woman, they've been bad to me. Nor have I insulted her. Everything I say is fact, Ernest. She's a bitch who has destroyed my family. Even her daughter is the same, she took you away from me, Ernest!" I replied irritably.
"Victoria, enough. My mother is not a bitch. My mother was your father's first love. It was because of that damn arranged marriage that your father left my mother. And the real bitch is your mother!" replied Felice with emotion.
I was silent for a moment. I wanted to say no, but part of what she said was true. If my parents were indeed married in an arranged marriage.
Our argument suddenly came to a halt. Everyone was startled when they heard gunshots.
My body suddenly went limp when I saw that the party guards had been shot dead.
Then a gang of masked men came to surprise us. All the guests ran to try to save themselves. Meanwhile, I looked at Ernest hugging the frightened Felice.
"Can we join this fun party?" asked the gang leader.
"Who are you?" asked Ernest with a sharp look.
"I just want to see how brave Mr. Ernest is," he replied, stepping closer to Ernest.
A punch flew at Ernest's face. The two hit each other. However, Ernest lost. He fell down, causing Felice to cry and hug him.
The masked man looked at me. He approached me and pulled my hair.
"Mr. Ernest, will you choose your treasure or your wife?" he asked, starting to grab me.
My heart was beating fast, I winced in pain. I looked at Ernest with a scared look.
"Of course, I choose my treasure. If you want it, take it. I can find another woman!" Ernest replied, bringing tears to my eyes.
"Wow, are you sure you will give your wife to me? Even if I abuse her in front of you?" said the masked man while hugging my waist, he also stroked my cheek lustfully.
"Abuse her, I don't care. But let us go quickly," Ernest replied, hugging Felice and my stepmother.
My heart broke hearing Ernest's answer. My tears felt so hot seeing Ernest protecting the two people I hated. He even let me be touched by another man.
I saw the members of the masked men's gang return with a pile of money and gold bars.
And I also saw Ernest, Felice, and my stepmother quietly leave me.
I wiped away my tears. "Hurry up and do our second plan!" I said, handing the masked man a lighter.
I walked away with a weak body after witnessing the sadness of my life.
I had reached my hiding place far away from where I lived.
I looked at the television screen where the news about the robbery at Ernest's party had spread. There, Ernest explained what was going on. However, there was one that caught my attention.
"Mrs. Victoria committed suicide. She burned her body alive, she was disappointed by your betrayal, and she had found out about her father's heart donation to Mrs. Felice," said Ernest's driver, making Ernest's face look visibly pale.
