When Love and Hatred Had Gone

Only when I was about to mention the divorce, George's phone lit up. He quickly glanced at it and apologized to me, "Jane, I'm sorry. I have a business banquet to attend today, so I can't accompany you."

He immediately stood by, preparing to go and said in haste, "I should have brought my wife with me, but you're in such a bad condition. I think you should take a good rest. I can go alone."

George put on his clothes and hurried out, leaving me alone. I decided to take a taxi to the hospital. After leaving the hospital, I updated my ID card photo and went to the law firm to print a divorce agreement.

Unconsciously, I walked to the door of the hotel where the business banquet that George mentioned was held and I deliberately walked in. As soon as I entered the hall, I saw an auction going on the stage to liven up this business banquet.

Sophia wore a low-necked fishtail skirt and coquettishly held George's arm. The foreign businessmen next to them kept praising them for being a perfect match.

George did not explain his relationship with Sophia and the corners of his mouth could not help curling up. He bought a sapphire necklace with the Heart of the Ocean at a high price of 200 million dollar. He wore it on Sophia's neck affectionately and made the guests look envious.

[This is Mrs. Wimsley, right? Mr. Wimsley really dotes on his wife. Not counting this necklace, the rings, antique hairpins and jade bracelets just now, add up to more than 10 billion dollars. He bought them without blinking an eye, just to make his wife happy.]

[Oh, Mrs. Wimsley is a big star. If I had such a beautiful wife, I would also dote on her. How face-saving it would be. Did you see the skirt she was wearing? That is the last work of the international fashion godfather. You can't buy it with money. There is only one. Mr. Wimsley begged for a long time to get it. The price is as much as my company's profit for a whole year.]

I looked down at my jeans that had been washed white and smiled bitterly. In the next second, they noticed me and looked surprised, "Who are you? Why do you look like Mrs. Wimsley?"

The voice here caught George's attention. He saw me and hurried over in panic, "Jane, why are you here?"

He then put a diamond ring on my hand and softly said, "This is what I just bought for you. Don't look at the small diamond on it, the material is very rare. I gave up a project worth hundreds of millions to get it. I intend to give it to you, Jane."

I looked at the ring and felt ironic. George thought I just came, so he didn't know that this ring was a gift from the necklace. In his eyes, I only deserved gifts.

Sophia twisted her waist and walked over. She looked at my face sarcastically and touched the Heart of the Ocean on her neck. She sarcastically greeted me.

"How are you, sister-in-law? I bet you understand that although we look the same now, our treatment is completely different. That broken diamond suits your status anyway. I am different. My brother said that diamonds below ten carats are not worthy of me at all. He always gives me diamonds as big as pigeon eggs. It would be fine if they were only big, but he gave me so many that his house couldn't fit them. But I know you are my best sister-in-law. You will never mind with the little trouble, won’t you?"

I clearly knew what she meant. She just wanted to say that I was as cheap and lowly as the gift.

Seeing that I didn't say anything, George thought I was angry and quickly explained, "Jane, it's not like what you think. Sophia is a public figure. Many paparazzi are watching her. She can't be careless about her fashion. I just..."

Before he finished speaking, Sophia suddenly fell into his arms and said weakly, "Brother, my feet are hurt. Maybe I use the wrong size shoes today. I don’t feel comfortable with it."
