When Love and Hatred Had Gone

"Jane, you’re here."

George looked over and happily pulled me to remove the gauze. He held the mirror in front of me and continued, "Jane, your face has finally recovered. How do you feel? Is it still hurt? If it’s so, just tell me and don't keep it in your heart. I will feel bad for it."

"If it's not because of those hateful kidnappers who deliberately tricked me to the wrong place, I wouldn't have found you so late. It's all my uselessness that caused you to be harmed and lost our child. I’m sorry. Now, you don't need to be worried. I will take good care of you and find them as soon as possible to avenge you and your child."

The tenderness in his eyes was stronger than before, but I couldn't fall into it. I knew that at this moment, this tenderness was not for me, but for the sake of his mistress.

"Jane, why don’t you consider to change your face like my sister, Sophia?"

George paused and continued gently, "Sophia Blake is a big star. Many girls envy her face. Don't you always praise her for her beauty? You can be as beautiful as her and I want to help you fulfil your wish, but your facial muscles are still a little stiff and need to be adjusted. So, what do you think?"

Listening to his considerate words, I felt a little ironic. I wondered if he was really helping me fulfil my wish, or for himself.

"George, I think I like my face better like this now. I don't want to take any surgery. I'm really scared," I carefully said to him.

George hesitated for a moment and smilingly pinched my face. "Silly Jane, if you don't want me to take any surgery, your facial muscles will bruise and broken. I'm doing this for your own good. Don't be afraid. I promise I'll be gentle. Are you still doubting your husband's skills? Easy baby, it will be over soon."

After that, he asked his assistant to tie me to the bed. He put the electric shock gun against my face and pressed the button without hesitation. The strong current spread throughout my body, as if someone had split my brain in half. It was accompanied by a faint smell of burning.

George was still gently exhorting, "Relax, Jane. Smile. If you don't smile, how can I know if it has been fixed? It seems that the arc of the corner of your mouth is still a little bit off. It may be that the current is not strong enough. Let's do it again."

This repeated dozens of times and I finally couldn't bear it anymore and fainted. When I opened my eyes again, I was in my bedroom at home.

George gently wiped my forehead with a wet towel. He looked at me as if he was appreciating his most perfect artwork and breathing with the smell of wine in celebration.

His eyes turned red. "Jane, you've worked hard. I'm sorry I have to do this. It's all because I didn't protect you well, so you suffered like this. Fortunately, everything is over now. We will definitely be happy and have children and grandchildren in the future."

I reluctantly pulled the corners of my mouth. "You've worked hard for my face. You take a rest."

George left and didn't hear the hidden meaning of my words, or perhaps he was drunk. He kissed my forehead and laid aside.

While George was sleeping, I picked up his phone and found that his wallpaper was still the maternity photo we took together. I wondered about the fake sweet smile shown up at the moment. It just pinched my heart harder.

I didn't enter the password that I had been known all this time. Instead, I entered Sophia's birthday number. It was not long to see the wallpaper slowly switch to their intimate photo. My heart was sunk as it was indeed broken pieces.

His Whatsapp avatar was a blue bear, which was a perfect match with Sophia's pink bear avatar. The funny thing was it was the thing that I also wanted to use a couple avatar with George.
