When Everything Has Gone

Seeing that I didn’t speak for a long time, Bryant was a little confused.

“Marshall, why don’t you speak? Don’t be angry with Leigh. She has that temper and doesn’t look like a girl at all. You should give in to her more.”

The intimacy in Bryant’s words was not concealed. I finally came to my senses and stood up and shook my head at Bryant.

“It’s okay, Mr. Adams, you should go to bed early.”

Looking at Bryant’s back as he left, my heart seemed to be pulled back and forth by a rusty sawtooth. For twenty years, I didn’t see clearly that Leigh always liked such a well-behaved and clean man.

And I was not.

Early the next morning, Leigh knocked on my door.

“Hurry up and get up. Today is the day for routine physical examination.”

As Bryant’s personal bodyguards, Bryant's father hired Leigh and me at a high price. Naturally, there were many requirements for us and the monthly routine physical examination was one of them.

The person sent by my grandfather to pick me up would arrive tomorrow. Before that, I didn’t want Leigh to be suspicious and cause other troubles, so I followed her to Adams Family’s private hospital.

Who knew that we met Bryant just outside the doctor’s office.

As soon as she saw Bryant, Leigh’s calmness disappeared instantly.

“Mr. Adams, what’s wrong with you? Are you feeling uncomfortable?”

Leigh’s anxiety and concern in her eyes were not concealed.

I laughed at myself. I had never noticed such an obvious thing before.

Was it because Leigh acted too well in the past, or was I too stupid?

Bryant smiled slightly and seemed to be very pleased with Leigh’s concern.

“It’s okay. I have a stomachache. It’s an old problem. I came here to get some medicine today. What about you? Aren’t you resting today? Why did you come to the hospital?”

It seemed that Bryant didn’t know about our monthly routine physical examination. I spoke before Leigh.

“She’s pregnant. I’ll accompany her to check.”

I knew that I had lost miserably in this relationship, but I didn’t know why. Looking at Leigh’s anxious look just now, even for a second, I wanted to regain some dignity for myself.

Even if it was to give myself an explanation for the past twenty years.

Sure enough, Bryant’s face changed when he heard what I said.

“What! Are you pregnant?”

Perhaps because he felt that his reaction was too big, Bryant quickly put away the displeasure on his face and smiled reluctantly.

“Being pregnant is a good thing. I’m just surprised that you are actually in a relationship. Okay, go check it out. It’s getting late.”

Leigh wanted to speak countless times, but I cut her off again and again.

After seeing Bryant leave, Leigh finally couldn’t help it anymore. She glared at me fiercely and chased after him.

I was stunned for a long time, but I followed the direction they just left and finally saw them in the stairwell.

Bryant’s pretty eyebrows frowned slightly and his pretty face was full of grievances.

“I thought you liked me, but it turned out that I had misunderstood all along?”

Leigh, the cold and ruthless female devil in the eyes of everyone, blushed in front of a man and was so nervous that she didn’t know where to put her hands.

“No... It’s not a misunderstanding. I like... I like you.”

Bryant’s eyes flashed with a hint of surprise, but then frowned again.

“Then why are you pregnant? You’re not going to say that the pregnancy is a misunderstanding?”

Just then, a nurse passed by me with a cart.

“Sir, please move aside.”
