My name is Rebecca Matthews. I was reborn.

In my previous incarnation, I had become a kid living in the same orphanage with Christine Short, the female lead in a novel, one night before she was adopted by the Matthews family.

However, I had never expected that the impact Christine had made on Charles Matthews was so huge.

As a progressive young woman, I was ashamed that I had failed to lead Charles back to the right path after he was led astray by Christine, causing the Matthews family to be ruined in the end.

Thank God for giving me another life, allowing me this opportunity to know the Matthews family again and help them break away from the control of the novel's plot.

I used the same method I had used in my previous life and took advantage of Christine to successfully get into the Matthews family.

In this life, I will protect the Matthews family by kicking Christine far away.

In my previous life, I was extremely stupid. Although I had prevented Christine from being alone with Charles, I was unaware that Christine had already influenced Charles by osmosis.

Wendy Matthews is a good mother. I knew this when I watched the TV adaptation of the novel before I became one of the roles in this novel and after I experienced life with her in my previous incarnation.

She had treated Christine and me as her biological daughters. Worried that we would be tired from the commute, she had bought us a large apartment near our workplace.

She had also asked Charles, her biological son, to buy us a luxury car so that we could commute more conveniently.

She had even driven for the hospital director in person to ask him to take care of Christine at work.

Wendy treated me as well as Christine.

But why would Charles fall for Christine?

Wendy wraps her arms around me and continues with misty eyes, "Beck, I'm your mom. Just feel free to ask for anything."

Mrs. Wendy Matthews is still so nice.

She will worry that I can't adapt myself to this new home just because Christine made requests to her while I didn't.

How stupid Christine is to speak ill of such a good adoptive mother like Wendy.

I feel a lump in my throat, my eyes instantly red. I bury my head in Wendy's embrace and say to her, "Mom, you and Dad gave me a home. I already have the best thing."

Wendy is stunned by what I said. I guess Christine must have never said such words.

Christine would probably just take Wendy's kindness for granted.

Wendy hugs me silently for a long time.

Before she leaves, she assures me, "Beck, there is no difference between you and Chris in my heart. I won't favor one over the other. You'll also have what Chris has."

Probably now, in Wendy's eyes, I'm a grateful person who can be contented easily.

She truly treats me, Christine, and Charles equally.

Christine remains the same as before. She enjoys Wendy's kindness but pretends to be innocent in front of Charles at the same time, complaining with tears that this family is suffocating her and depressing her.

However, I know Charles is tied to the novel's plot and can't control himself at all when it comes to Christine.
