I pressed my temples, a wave of exhaustion washing over me. "Mom! Wait, don't do anything rash. Tell Dad and Kyle to stand down. Let me figure this out first. I can handle it."
After a tense ten-minute call, I finally convinced my mother not to storm the gates just yet.
I opened Instagram, and the trending topics immediately assaulted my screen.
"Rock Star Jax Thorne's New Romance Revealed!"
"'The God of Thunder' Finds True Love."
"Jax Thorne Gifts Blair Davenport a Custom Guitar."
It turned out Jax had posted a photo earlier. It was a shot of a woman from behind, standing in a recording studio and holding his iconic guitar. The caption read: "My muse, my siren song."
At the same time, Blair had posted a photo of them kissing on a yacht in Malibu. Her caption was: "The stars fell into the sea, and I fell into your arms."
In an instant, the internet exploded. Thousands of fans flooded their posts with comments, congratulating what they dubbed "rock's newest power couple."
"OMG, my two faves are finally together!"
"Get married already!"
Many fans started digging up old clips of Jax and Blair interacting at various music festivals and parties.
"They're a match made in heaven! So perfect for each other. This is the sweetest couple in rock history!"
"Agreed! They should get married right away. They look so perfect together! I believe in love again!"
I scanned the comments and let out a cold laugh. Then, I dialed Jax's number.
"Oh... baby, harder..."
The moment the call connected, I was met with Blair's sultry giggles and Jax's heavy panting. The call lasted only a few seconds before I slammed the 'end' button.
A wave of nausea and pure rage washed over me. That night, I posted a photo of our marriage certificate on my locked Instagram account.
The next day, I booked the earliest flight to Los Angeles. I had to see just how long Jax could keep up this charade once I was back in town.
However, overnight, my Instagram account was completely swamped with hate.
