The Luna’s Unfinished War

I was training when the call came. My only sister, my precious Celeste, had been attacked by rogues. And the one who threw her to them? Alpha Killian— my husband’s mistress. Aurora.

The words sent a chill down my spine, colder than the night air. My pulse pounded as I sprinted back to the pack house, my legs burning, my lungs aching. But none of it mattered.

Celeste needed me.

"Where is she?" I gasped as I reached the hospital wing, shoving past nurses.

One of them flinched at my tone but pointed toward the farthest room. "Alpha Killian ordered—"

I didn’t let her finish. I was already sprinting. The moment I reached the door, I shoved it open.

Celeste lay on the bed, her face pale, her body deathly still. Her chest barely rose with each shallow breath. The sight sent a jolt of terror through me.

Her side had been clawed open. Deep gashes ran from her ribs to her hip, the wound still raw despite the bandages wrapped around her. Bruises marred her skin, dark and cruel.

"Celeste," I whispered, stumbling forward. My fingers brushed her wrist—it was ice-cold.

A choked sob tore from my throat.

"What happened to her?" I turned to the pack doctor.

He hesitated before muttering, "She was thrown to the rogues."

Thrown. The word echoed in my skull, setting my blood on fire.

Killian.

His mistress.

My hands clenched into fists.

"She’s losing too much blood," the doctor continued. "She won’t last another hour at this rate."

"No," I shook my head violently. "No, no, no! There has to be a way! I’ll do anything—anything to save her!"

Killian stepped forward, his expression unreadable. "There is a way."

I snapped my head toward him, desperate. I wanna slap him but not now. "What? What do I need to do?"

His golden eyes met mine. "Your blood."

I didn’t hesitate.

"Take it," I said. "Take as much as she needs."

A muscle ticked in Killian’s jaw, but he nodded. "Prepare the transfusion."

The moment the needle pierced my vein, a wave of dizziness hit me. The bag filled too quickly, my vision growing spotty, my limbs heavy.

"That’s enough for now," the doctor said.

"One more bag," Killian ordered.

"Sienna could go into shock!"

Killian’s gaze hardened. "Do it. I'm the Alpha here. You will follow my order."

The second bag filled, and my body felt like it was floating. My head lolled back against the chair, my breath shallow. The room blurred.

"Celeste," I murmured. "She’ll be okay, right?"

Killian crouched beside me, brushing hair from my face. "Rest now, Sienna."

His voice was soothing. A lie wrapped in silk. Darkness pulled me under.

Pain.

It was the first thing I felt. A dull, aching emptiness deep in my bones. My body was weak, my head pounding. I groaned, forcing my heavy eyelids open. The fluorescent light above burned my vision.

Then I remembered—Celeste! I jolted upright, panic seizing my chest. My gaze darted to the bed beside me— Empty.

The sheets were clean. Untouched.

No.

I ripped off the IV attached to my arm, staggering to my feet. My legs wobbled, but I forced myself forward, gripping the bedframe for support.

"Celeste?" My voice came out hoarse. "Where is she?"

Silence.

Then hushed voices drifted in from the hall.

"Alpha, Aurora is stable now. The transfusion worked perfectly."

Aurora? I froze.

Another voice responded, low and cautious. "And the girl?"

Killian’s voice followed, cold and emotionless. "Dead. I never planned to waste that blood on her."

My stomach dropped. My hands shook as I grabbed the door handle, barely breathing.

The Beta hesitated. "Does Sienna know?"

"She’ll believe whatever I tell her," Killian said smoothly. "She’s too blinded by her love for me. It was never about saving Celeste—it was always about Aurora."

The world spun around me.

My chest clenched so painfully I thought I might collapse.

Celeste was gone.

And I had given away the only thing that could’ve saved her—to Killian’s whore. A sharp sob tore from my throat, my body trembling.

I had trusted him. I had loved him. And he had played me like a fool.
