Saved Her First, Lost His Luna Forever Summary

Claire Mercer lay pinned in twisted metal, listening to her ten-year-old son beg his father to save Aunt Bianca first. Alpha Adrian obeyed—never knowing Claire was twelve weeks pregnant until their baby was already gone. When Bianca twisted the crash into Claire's fault, Claire stopped fighting, surrendered her place at Alpha House, and vanished into another pack's rehabilitation program. There, beside Noah Reed—the young Alpha who dragged her from the wreck—she relearned how to walk, shift, and trust. Then the data surfaced: Bianca engineered it all. Adrian and Lucas came searching, only to watch Claire choose someone else.

Chapter 1 of Saved Her First, Lost His Luna Forever

At nineteen, I married Alpha Adrian Vale and became mother to his four-year-old son, Lucas.

I gave up the healer apprenticeship I had fought for and built my life around a boy who had already lost one mother.

The first time Lucas called me Mom, Adrian kissed my forehead and promised I would never stand alone again.

For six years, I believed him.

I became Luna, stayed through every pack crisis, and taught Lucas that being strong meant protecting the people you loved.

When I found out I was twelve weeks pregnant, I hid the ultrasound inside an envelope to surprise them after our charity event.

Then Adrian's first love, Bianca, moved into Alpha House.

Lucas started choosing her for games, rides, and secrets.

On the drive home, Bianca's brakes failed and a pileup trapped us in two different cars.

Adrian reached my shattered window first.

"Mom is the Luna. She's strong," Lucas sobbed. "Save Aunt Bianca first."

"We only have one cutting team," the rescuer warned.

"Then take Bianca's car first," Adrian said.

"Dad, go with her!"

"I'm going. Claire can hold on."

"You moved Bianca into the family suite?"

I kept my voice low because Lucas was only ten feet away, arguing with a volunteer about whether he was old enough to help carry the Founders Festival banners.

Adrian did not look guilty. He stood beside the open tailgate of his SUV, checking boxes off the event inventory on his tablet. "The guest wing is full. It is three nights, Claire. She is still recovering from the silver exposure."

"The family suite shares a hallway with our bedroom."

"And?"

That single word told me more than an argument would have.

Bianca Vale had returned to our territory ten days ago after eight years away. The pack remembered her as the girl who took a piece of silver shrapnel meant for Adrian during the barn fire that killed two guards. Adrian remembered carrying her through smoke while her blood soaked his shirt. Lucas remembered the version she had told him three times since coming home: Aunt Bianca saved Dad before Mom ever knew him.

I remembered something else. Six years ago, when Lucas was four and terrified that his new stepmother would disappear like everyone else, I declined a place in the Advanced Healer program because the training required eighteen months outside Vale territory. Adrian had held my face between his hands and promised the sacrifice would never make me smaller in his eyes.

The acceptance letter still sat in the second drawer of his study desk.

My phone vibrated against my palm. A message from the neutral clinic appeared on the screen.

Twelve-week scan normal. Fetal heartbeat strong. Travel permitted with caution.

I read it twice before locking the phone.

I had planned to tell Adrian and Lucas after the festival. I had even tucked the new ultrasound into a white envelope marked To Dad & Big Brother. After years of failed attempts and one chemical pregnancy I never told Lucas about, I wanted one uncomplicated hour of happiness before the pack learned.

"Mom!"

Lucas ran toward us carrying a coil of silver-and-blue bunting. He swerved around me and stopped beside Bianca, who had just crossed the field in riding boots and a cream jacket.

"Aunt Bianca said I can ride in her SUV during the charity convoy," he announced. "She has the roof camera. I can film the whole route."

"You are riding with your father," I said.

His smile vanished. "Why?"

"Because the convoy route has a steep descent after Mile Marker Nine, and you know the safety rule. Minors ride in the Alpha vehicle unless a parent approves the transfer."

Bianca gave me an easy smile. "I drove mountain roads in Colorado for years. I can handle one hill."

"This is not about whether you can drive. It is about the event protocol."

Lucas groaned. "You make everything a protocol."

Adrian finally looked up from his tablet. "Let him ride with her. It is one afternoon."

I turned to him. "The rule exists because last year's convoy had a brake failure."

"And every vehicle was inspected this morning." Adrian's tone sharpened. "Stop treating him like he is five."

Lucas shifted closer to Bianca, victory already brightening his face.

I could have forced the issue with my Luna authority. Instead, I looked at my son. "If the route marshal says the vehicle is cleared, I will allow it. Seat belt stays on. You do not move seats while the car is rolling."

"Yes!" Lucas threw both arms around Bianca.

She hugged him back and glanced at Adrian over his head. Something private passed between them. Not romance exactly. History. The kind everyone around me treated like a sacred thing I had no right to disturb.

I pressed a hand against my stomach.

The baby deserved better than to enter a family where every boundary I set could be voted down by nostalgia.

"Claire, we need the west-field banners moved before noon," Adrian said. "Can you take Bianca's SUV to the maintenance bay and clear the loading zone? Her keys are in the cup holder."

Bianca blinked. "I can do it."

"Your doctor told you not to lift anything heavy," Adrian replied immediately.

He noticed her restrictions without needing to be reminded. I had been nauseated for three weeks and he had not asked once why I stopped drinking coffee.

"I will move it," I said.

Bay Three was half open when I arrived. I backed Bianca's silver SUV onto the service mark, unloaded two boxes of banners, and used my Luna card to open the supply cage. The garage software was ancient. My profile stayed active while I carried the boxes outside.

Dawson, the senior mechanic, shouted from beneath a pickup truck. "Do not forget to close your session, Luna. The system keeps master access alive until you log out."

"I know."

My phone rang before I reached the terminal. Lucas had forgotten his riding gloves. Adrian needed the ceremony schedule. A volunteer had sent the wrong banners to the south field.

I grabbed the boxes and hurried out.

Twenty minutes later, while I was pinning a banner near the riding ring, my tablet chimed with an automated garage alert.

Bay Three service session: active under Luna master access.

I frowned at the timestamp.

The system showed another maintenance command twelve minutes after I had left the garage.

I opened the alert details. The command itself was masked behind a service flag, and the vehicle field showed Bianca's license number. I almost called Dawson, but Lucas shouted my name from across the field and held up his riding helmet, impatient for me to watch his next lap.

I saved a screenshot instead. The unease was small enough to ignore but specific enough to keep. Whoever had used Bay Three after me had done it while my access was still live, and the system had attached their work to my name.

I locked the tablet and crossed the field toward my family, not yet understanding that one forgotten logout would soon be used as proof that I had tried to destroy them.
