Chapter 1 of My Wife Sent Me Into The Uninhabited Area
After the cooperation was negotiated, I saw an old, scavenged man who had scattered and fainted on the side of the road due to heatstroke.
I anxiously helped the old man into the car and prepared to take him to the hospital.
But my wife’s secretary covered his nose and looked disgusted. “It’s so dirty. I won’t be in the same car with him.”
I rolled my eyes. “Since you don’t want to take the car back to the company, you suit yourself.”
I drove to the hospital with the old man who had heatstroke, picked him up and successfully saved his life.
But when I got home, my wife asked me angrily, “Do you know that you left Lincoln alone on the road? In the 45-degree high temperature, he walked back to the company and fainted from heatstroke. Fortunately, he was rescued in the intensive care unit for one day.”
I knew this was a bitter trick that Lincoln had used. He had used it countless times and every time, he made Estelle misunderstand me, get angry at me and it was getting worse and worse.
I explained patiently again, “I am sending a scavenger to the hospital with heatstroke. He is unwilling to have a car with the scavenger. Besides, an adult knows how to take a taxi.”
After hearing this, Estelle stopped arguing with me again.
She only left a light sentence, “It seems that he did it to himself this time. I understand. I misunderstood you.”
I thought this matter had passed, but I didn’t expect that on the wedding anniversary, Estelle mysteriously said that she wanted to give me a surprise.
But when I unbuttoned the scarf that blocked my eyes, I found myself in a no-man’s land.
A cold sound came from the plane overhead.
“Mortimer, didn’t you say that adults should know how to take a taxi? You can do it now.”
I couldn’t help but feel ridiculous. In order to vent her anger on the puppy secretary, she threw me into a no-man’s land full of wild animals.
Perhaps, this marriage should have ended long ago.
I clicked on the satellite phone with the location in my hand and said, “Come and pick me up.”
——
After hearing my words, Estelle laughed sarcastically.
“Mortimer, aren’t you scared? This is a no-man’s land. Who else can you ask to pick you up besides me? I advise you to kneel on the ground and apologize and kowtow to Lincoln. If he forgives you, maybe he can let you leave early; otherwise, you will be waiting here to be bitten by a beast.”
Lincoln, next to her, looked proud. “Mr. Watkins, I don’t want this either, but you left me behind and I almost died of heatstroke. You owe me this. But if you admit your mistakes and kowtow to apologize to me, I’ll beg the President to let you suffer less.”
I felt so disgusted when I saw him, a big man, but he always looked like a pretentious person.
Estelle and I were married for seven years. I didn’t expect that she could bring me danger because of this little secretary. Her former promise turned into shits and she had long forgotten it.
Holding the pain in my heart, I looked up at Estelle.
“Estelle, do you really think that thing is my fault? I just saw an old man who was picking up scattered items and wanted to save him. Your little secretary had healthy limbs. As long as he was not an idiot, he knew how to take transportation. This was obviously his bitter plan. I don’t believe you can’t tell it?”
Estelle’s face changed.
When Lincoln saw me secretly, he looked at me with deep hatred and then spoke with red eyes.
“I know you don’t like me, but how can you call me an idiot, Mr. Watkins? I am just a student who has just graduated from college. How can I be more wealthy than you, Mr. Watkins? I either drive or take a taxi when going out. Where can I get money to take a taxi?”
He shed a tear, as if he had suffered all his grievances. “Forget it, just think I’m taking it upon myself. President, please don’t punish Mr. Watkins. I’m just an insignificant secretary. At worst, I can leave and I don’t want Mr. Watkins to resent you because of me.”
