My Husband's Secret Anniversary with His Mistress Summary

For seven years, Dr. Elena Sinclair lived as the dismissed and neglected wife of Adrian Voss, enduring his family's disdain and his blatant affair with his mistress, Vivian Chen. When Adrian secretly celebrates their wedding anniversary with Vivian and coaches their young daughter, Lily, to reject Elena entirely, he believes he has cleanly erased his wife from his life. He couldn't be more wrong. Elena is not just a humble doctor; she is Edmund Sinclair II, a brilliant neurosurgeon and the sole heir to the Sinclair Medical Group, a global empire that secretly underpins the Voss family's entire fortune. Reclaiming her true identity and power, Elena orchestrates a precise, devastating dismantling of Adrian's world, systematically stripping away his business alliances, social standing, and wealth. But her clinical vengeance takes a tragic turn when Lily is diagnosed with a deadly brain tumor. There is only one surgeon in the world capable of saving the little girl: Dr. E. Sinclair II. Now, a broken Adrian must surrender everything he owns to beg for the mercy of the woman he threw away, leaving Elena to navigate the ultimate choice between her flawless revenge and the life of the daughter she never stopped loving.

Chapter 1 of My Husband's Secret Anniversary with His Mistress

The silver platter was cold against my fingertips. I lifted the lid, revealing the chilled oysters arranged on a bed of crushed ice like pearls. I'd sourced them from a boutique supplier Adrian once praised. For our seventh anniversary, he'd said last year. Something decadent.

"Decadent," I whispered to the empty dining room.

My voice echoed off the vaulted ceilings. I'd lit the candles earlier. Their flames flickered against the dark, polished wood of the table I'd set for two. For us.

My phone buzzed on the marble counter. A notification from the family chat. Adrian's mother had posted a picture of Lily at her ballet recital last weekend. I tapped to open it, to add a comment—She looks beautiful, Mom.

The app loaded. The group name was still there: "Voss Family." But my name wasn't in the member list.

I scrolled up. My last message, sent three days ago about Lily's dentist appointment, was gone. The entire chat history looked thinner.

A cold knot tightened in my stomach. I tapped my profile, then the group info. Removed by administrator.

I knew who the administrator was.

The oysters stared up at me, glistening. I placed the platter on the table. The movement felt robotic. My mind was elsewhere, clicking through possibilities. A mistake? A system glitch? But Adrian was meticulous. He wouldn't make a mistake like this. Not today.

I walked to the study, my heels silent on the thick rug. The security monitor was a sleek black panel mounted beside his desk. I rarely touched it. Adrian handled security. It's complicated, Elena. Let me manage it.

My finger hovered over the login button. He'd never given me the password. But I'd watched him type it once, six months ago, when a sensor faulted. My memory reconstructed the sequence: his birthday, Lily's birthday, the yacht's registration number.

The screen blinked to life. A grid of camera feeds appeared. The front gate. The pool. The east wing hallway. The dock.

The dock feed was active. The time stamp showed 7:04 PM. Our dock.

And on our dock, our Vanquish yacht, was lit up. Strings of tiny white lights wrapped around the rails. I could see figures moving on the aft deck.

I zoomed in. The image sharpened.

Adrian stood near the built-in bar, holding a champagne flute. He was smiling, a loose, easy smile I hadn't seen in months. Beside him, Vivian leaned against the railing, her dress a shimmer of cobalt blue against the night. Her hand rested on his forearm. Lily was there too, perched on a cushioned bench, a glass of what looked like juice in her small hands. She was laughing.

My breath left me in a slow, hollow stream.

I tapped the audio feed. The system connected.

"…and Mommy said we could have cake after!" Lily's voice, bright and clear.

"We will, sweetheart," Adrian replied. His tone was warm, indulgent. "After we toast to our special day."

Vivian's laugh filtered through, soft and intimate. "Seven years. It feels like both a lifetime and just a blink."

"The best blink of my life," Adrian said.

I watched his hand lift, his fingers brushing Vivian's cheek. A casual, affectionate touch. One he hadn't given me in… I couldn't remember.

Lily shifted on the bench, looking toward the camera mounted on the dock pylon. She pointed. "Daddy, what's that light?"

Adrian glanced over. "Just a security camera, Lily. Nothing to worry about."

He turned back to Vivian, but Lily kept looking at the camera lens. Her expression shifted from curiosity to a kind of earnest clarity. She leaned forward, as if speaking directly to the monitor.

"Daddy told me," she said, her voice pitching a little higher, carrying perfectly to the microphone, "that today is the day he and Aunt Vivian found each other again, seven years ago. He said it's more special than the day he married that lady."

That lady.

The words didn't feel like a child's phrasing. They felt coached. Precise.

Vivian's smile deepened. She didn't correct Lily. She didn't say, "Your mother." She just reached over and smoothed Lily's hair.

Adrian raised his glass. "To our true family."

My hand found my abdomen. A flutter moved beneath my palm, a soft, nascent pulse. The clinic confirmation was in my purse. Eight weeks. I'd planned to tell him tonight. Over the oysters. With the candlelight.

Now the candlelight was here, in this room, with me alone. And the celebration was there, on the water, with them.

The monitor screen glowed, a window into a party I wasn't invited to. I watched them toast. I watched Vivian sip her champagne, her eyes locked on Adrian. I watched Adrian's gaze linger on her lips.

I watched my daughter clap her hands together, delighted by a secret she believed was just for her.

The ache in my chest was a physical weight. I turned from the screen. The dining room awaited, a stage with no actors. The oysters, the champagne I'd chilled, the filet mignon resting under a cloche in the kitchen—all props for a play that had been canceled.

I walked back to the table. I picked up my phone again, my thumb moving automatically to the messaging app. I typed a text to Adrian.

Where are you? Dinner is ready.

I sent it.

A minute passed. Then two.

No reply.

I sat down in my chair, the one facing the empty seat where he should have been. I looked at the oysters. I looked at the champagne flutes, both empty. I looked at the single rose I'd placed in a vase at the center.

My phone rang.

The sound jarred me. It wasn't Adrian's ringtone. It was a generic, default trill. An unknown number.

I answered.

"Dr. Voss?" A man's voice, professional, neutral.

"Yes."

"This is a call regarding the execution timeline of your father's estate. The mandatory waiting period concludes in three hundred and sixty-five days. We will require your presence for the final review at that time. Do you have any questions?"

I sat in the silence of my own anniversary dinner, the ghost of a celebration playing on a monitor in another room, a new flutter in my womb, and a clock now ticking in my ear.

"No," I said, my voice steady and quiet. "No questions."
