My Alpha Replaced Me with His Pregnant Mistress Summary

The Winter Solstice Ceremony was supposed to be sacred, but at 10:47 p.m., my life was permanently shattered. Walking into our bedroom in my silver Luna gown, I witnessed the ultimate betrayal: my mate, Alpha Camden, was in our bed with Veronica. As the scent of her artificial perfume and their forbidden desire choked the air, my wolf howled in pure agony. Under the glow of ceremonial candles, our sacred bond was torn apart, leaving me to face a devastating new reality.

Chapter 1 of My Alpha Replaced Me with His Pregnant Mistress

The bond broke at 10:47 p.m. on the night of the Winter Solstice Ceremony.

I smelled her first. Something floral and manufactured, layered thick over Camden's scent in the corridor outside his private quarters. My wolf went rigid inside me, claws scraping at my ribs. I pressed my palm flat against the door—still wearing my Luna gown, silver silk that took three fittings—and pushed it open.

Camden was in his bed. Veronica was beneath him, her red hair spilling across his pillow. The ceremonial candles I'd lit an hour ago were still burning on the dresser beside them.

He didn't stop. He turned his head and looked at me, and there was nothing in his eyes. No surprise. No shame. Just a cold, flat assessment, like I was a problem he'd been expecting.

"Layla." He said my name the way you'd say a chore you'd forgotten to finish.

My wolf howled. The sound tore through my chest, clawing for a way out, but my body stayed frozen in the doorway. The mark on my neck—his mark, three years old, the thing that made me Luna—pulsed once, hard, like a second heartbeat trying to restart.

Camden rose. He didn't bother covering himself. He crossed the room in four strides, gripped my wrist, and pulled me into the corridor. His fingers were still warm from her skin.

"Camden—" I tried to pull back, but his grip tightened. Alpha strength. Not tone yet, just raw physical force.

"Walk," he said.

He dragged me through the corridors. Past the kitchens where I'd spent the afternoon preparing the ceremonial feast. Past the great hall where three hundred wolves were gathered, waiting for the Luna to join the Alpha on stage for the Solstice blessing. My feet stumbled in the heels I'd chosen to match the gown. The silk whispered against the stone floor.

We stepped onto the stage. The full moon was directly overhead, cold and white. Every wolf in the hall went silent. I could see their faces in the candlelight—pack members I'd cared for, disputes I'd mediated, children I'd helped deliver. They watched us with the stillness of prey.

Camden released my wrist and stepped back. He didn't look at me. He looked at the pack.

"I, Camden, Alpha of the Ironvale Pack," he said, his voice carrying to the back of the hall, clear and formal, "reject you, Layla, as my mate and Luna."

The mark on my neck went ice-cold. Not pain yet—just cold, like someone had pressed a frozen coin against my skin. Then the bond snapped.

It felt like a nerve being severed. A rope cut mid-fall. The warmth that had lived in my chest for three years—the constant, quiet awareness of him, the thread that tied my wolf to his—tore away all at once, and the space it left behind was so empty it hurt worse than any wound I'd ever felt.

My knees buckled. I hit the stage floor hard, palms flat against the wood. My wolf was screaming inside my mind, clawing at the emptiness where the bond used to be, trying to find him and finding nothing.

I pressed my thumb against the mark on my neck. It was still there, physically—the scar tissue, the shape of his teeth—but it felt dead. Like touching a door in an abandoned house.

The pack didn't move. Didn't speak. Three hundred wolves, and not one of them made a sound.

Footsteps crossed the stage behind me. I turned my head and saw Veronica. She was wearing a gown now—pale blue, hastily fastened—and her hand rested on her belly in a gesture I recognized because I'd seen it a hundred times in pregnant she-wolves. Protective. Proud.

Camden took her hand. He pulled her close and turned back to the pack.

"Veronica is my chosen mate," he said. "She carries my heir. She will be your Luna."

Veronica's eyes found mine. She smiled. Not cruel—just satisfied, like someone who'd won a game she'd been playing longer than I'd known there was a board.

I looked at the pack. At the wolves I'd served. At the elders who'd welcomed me three years ago when Camden brought me home, packless and grateful and so desperate to belong I would have done anything.

No one met my eyes.

My wolf's scream dropped to a whimper. I pressed both palms flat against the stage floor and pushed myself to my feet. My legs shook, but they held. I turned and walked off the stage, through the side door, into the corridor beyond.

I didn't run. I didn't cry. I walked in my silver gown and my matching heels, carrying nothing but the ghost of a bond that no longer existed.

Behind me, I heard Camden's father's voice rise in the hall—formal, brisk, already moving to the next item of business.

I made it to the main staircase before Camden's mother found me. She didn't touch me. She just stood at the top of the stairs, blocking my path to the upper floors, and spoke in the pleasant, measured tone she used for household staff.

"You're no longer Luna," she said. "The elders have voted. You're Omega now. You'll serve Veronica directly—meals, cleaning, whatever she requires. Your quarters are in the basement. Someone will show you."

I looked at her. At the woman who'd welcomed me into this pack house three years ago, who'd taught me the pack's history, who'd smiled when Camden marked me.

"Where?" I asked. My voice came out steady. I didn't know how.

"Basement," she repeated. "East corridor. You'll start tomorrow."

A young Delta—Soren, I thought his name was—appeared at my elbow. He didn't look at me either. He just gestured toward the servants' staircase.

I followed him down. Three flights, then a narrow corridor that smelled like stone and damp. He stopped at a door, pushed it open, and stepped back.

"Here," he said quietly.

I walked inside. The room was small—a cot, a single candle, a narrow window near the ceiling that showed a slice of night sky. The door closed behind me. I heard his footsteps retreat down the corridor.

Above me, through the ceiling, the celebration resumed. Music. Laughter. The sound of wolves who'd already moved on.

I sat on the cot in my silver gown and pressed both hands flat against my knees to stop them from shaking. My wolf stirred inside me, wounded and disoriented, making a sound that wasn't quite a howl and wasn't quite a cry.

I didn't cry.

I stayed very still, breathing through the bond-agony, cataloging what I had and what I didn't.

I had nothing.

I'd survived nothing before. I'd survived it anyway.

This was the last night I'd spend in shock.

Tomorrow, I'd begin.
