Chapter 1 of I Will Give You The Price Of Your Betrayal
Anna entered the luxurious home of her fiancé, a Don named Ivan. Anna is delighted after returning from vacationing in Lake Como to enjoy an annual event and staying at Ivan's private villa; her mind is fresh again. Today, she deliberately went home earlier than scheduled for tomorrow to surprise Ivan.
Behind her, Nika, her assistant, carries a painting that Anna got from Ivan's favorite famous painter. This would be her holiday gift to the man she loved so much.
"Where's Ivan?" Anna asked the bald man who the mansion's guard was.
The man bowed his head, then made a gesture to the right. "Sir is in the recreation room with Mr. Mike and Gerald."
Anna nodded and continued walking. From afar, Anna could see the recreation room lights on and the faint sound of laughter; she couldn't wait to join them.
Just a few steps away from entering, she heard Gerald's voice. “Anna rarely goes on vacation alone. Is this your plan to send her away?"
Anna stopped walking. She just stood behind the incompletely closed door. Then she raised her hand, signaling Nika to stop, too. Anna continued to listen to Gerald's question, which made her suspicious.
“No, maybe this is a sign from nature so that my meeting with Benita goes smoothly. I picked Benita up at the airport, and we spent some time at her apartment."
"You're playing great, man! You're not afraid of Anna finding out about your relationship with Benita? After all... you guys are engaged, right?"
Anna's heart stopped for a moment. She had no idea that Ivan was capable of having an affair with Benita. The person who should be called her closest friend.
"Why are you two so afraid of me getting caught? When the time comes, I will leave Anna and start a life with the woman I love. Anna is just my bed warmer. It would be a shame to ignore her now."
Anna covered her mouth in shock at the disappointment that was now running through every inch of her body. All this time, she only knew that Benita was Ivan's best friend since school, but it turned out that they were more than that. They looked close, but Anna had never seen them intimate. They were really good at keeping the truth behind her.
"You'd better choose before things get worse, Ivan.”
“Calm down, Mike. After all, Benita is more powerful, and her family will be my favorable partner. As for Anna? She's just a stray; I'm protecting her to repay my family for Miguel. After all, Miguel had been a loyal accomplice during his lifetime. So I was forced to embrace his child, and there are other benefits I'm still trying to wrest from her."
Then came the sound of laughter from them. Anna could no longer stand there in sentences that seemed to strip her of her clothes in public.
Tears condensed in her eyes and slowly fell drop-by drop-down Anna's gaunt cheeks. The heartache she felt seemed to crush her bones, making her have to lean against the wall to maintain her balance.
The words that flowed freely from the mouth of the person she loved the most made her realize that all this time, Anna had only loved Ivan alone. So, the sacrifices she made were invisible in her fiancé's eyes.
All the beautiful things that came out of the man's mouth turned out to be fake. Anna is considered a whore who is only valuable for bed. This is in stark contrast to Ivan's seemingly gentle and kind demeanor during their relationship.
“Let's go, Nika, leave that thing there!" Anna whispered, her hand pointing to the wall near the door.
Nika nodded and put the painting down gently. Then she followed Anna as she left the recreation room.
In front of the mansion, Anna told the two guards who had seen her come out in a frantic state.
"If he asks, just tell him you just saw a package deliveryman with a painting. Don't let Ivan know I'm coming!"
Anna and Nika got into the car.
Anna was silent for a few seconds, after which Anna finally said, "We'll just go to the villa tonight. I want to calm my mind."
The whole journey was filled with Anna's increasingly intense crying. She blamed herself, repeatedly asking herself what she was lacking so that Ivan would cheat on her. But there was not a single answer she could find because all this time, she had done to the limit. She even gave up her youth and devoted herself to Don's family.
Their departure did not go smoothly. Halfway through the trip, Anna felt an incredible cramp in her stomach. It came on suddenly, making her body tense up.
“Nika... my stomach...," Anna moaned; from the backseat, her body seemed to curl up.
Nika saw this and panicked. She made a quick decision. Nika turned the car towards the nearest hospital. In the emergency room, Anna lay with a pale face. The doctor made a serious face as he examined her, but then he gave a small smile.
"Congratulations... you're pregnant."
Anna was speechless. The words hit her like a massive wave of seawater. Pregnant? Was she pregnant with Ivan's child? Her hand touched her flat stomach, and the tears came again. Not tears of joy but bitterness that she couldn't put into words.
Anna wondered if she should keep the baby when the father of this child chose to find a way to leave her
