His Rejected Luna: The Lycan King's Vengeful Mate

Audriana POV:

The top floor of the Sinclair Tower was not an office; it was an aerie of steel, obsidian glass, and sweeping views of a storm-tossed Manhattan.

I sat across an expanse of polished black granite, a steaming cup of Earl Grey sitting untouched before me. Behind the desk stood Caden Sinclair, his suit jacket removed, wearing a crisp charcoal dress shirt with the sleeves rolled once to reveal corded forearms. In the daylight, he was even more striking—high, predatory cheekbones, silver-threaded dark hair, and eyes the color of winter seas.

"Let us establish our perimeter," I began, opening a slim leather folder containing my terms. "I am not entering a decorative union. I require an ironclad prenuptial agreement guaranteeing absolute financial independence. My assets remain separate, my corporate maneuvers remain autonomous, and my private commissions under the Aura alias are exempt from marital discovery."

Caden listened, resting his chin lightly on his steepled fingers. "Go on."

"My family is filing for an emergency conservatorship, claiming psychological distress from the severed bond. If we enter a formal binding, your status supersedes Sullivan pack authority. In exchange, I offer strategic corporate restructuring for Sinclair Global's subsidiary ventures, and when necessary, the private artistic services of Aura." I paused, leveling a hard stare. "Furthermore, I retain personal privacy. We maintain separate bedrooms, separate schedules, and zero interference."

"A business merger," Caden murmured, the corner of his lips curving slightly. "Sensible. Pragmatic." He stood up, towering over the desk, the scent of pine and ice washing over me like a physical tide. "My terms are simpler, Audriana. You bear my crest. You sit beside me when protocol demands it. You allow my security detail to establish your perimeter. And you do not run when the old families begin to circle."

"I don't run from wolves," I countered. "I gut them."

A dark gleam sparked in Caden's eyes. "Then we have a contract."

An hour later, we stood inside the high-security private chamber of the Alliance Registry Hall. There were no public clerks this time. Instead, the Chief Registrar, an ancient, wizened Beta named Elmsworth, stood waiting with quivering hands.

Caden bypassed the standard digital terminals entirely. He reached into his coat pocket and slid a matte-black titanium token across the desk. It bore no name—only an embossed crest of a crowned dire wolf clutching a broken sword.

Elmsworth glanced at the token, and every drop of color drained from his wrinkled face. He dropped into a deep, trembling bow. "Your... Your Grace. We were not informed—"

"Expedite the rites," Caden cut him off, his voice dropping into a low, gravelly vibration that rattled the crystal sconces on the wall. "The Eternal Vow. Standard civilian parchment."

"Immediately, sir."

I watched the interaction closely, filing away the clerk's sheer, unadulterated terror. Your Grace. That was not the title of a standard pack Alpha. What branch of the Sinclair bloodline had I just bound myself to?

Elmsworth returned bearing two ancient sheepskin scrolls bordered in glowing silver runes. This was no civil ceremony; this was the primordial covenant, woven from the old magic of the First Packs. Once written, only death could unbind it.

I picked up the offered quill. My hand hovered above the parchment. Gabe's face flashed through my mind—ten years of childhood loyalty, flushed away in a hotel lounge for greed. Was I simply jumping into a deeper, colder ocean?

"Second thoughts, Ms. Sullivan?" Caden's voice murmured near my ear, his breath cool against my cheek.

"Never," I said.

I signed my name in sharp, decisive strokes: Audriana Sullivan. The ink flared with golden light, sinking into the parchment fibers.

Caden took the quill and slashed his signature alongside hers: Caden Sinclair.

"Your right hands," Elmsworth whispered, barely finding his voice.

We pressed our palms together over the embossed Alliance seal. A jolt of pure, white-hot current ripped through my arm. It wasn't the searing agony of Gabe's rejection; it was an intoxicating, bone-deep resonance, an electric wave that swept through my blood and branded itself into my spirit.

Silver light coalesced at our wrists, sinking beneath the epidermis to leave a faint, shimmering mark—two wolves circling a crown, visible only when light caught the skin at an angle.

Caden's long fingers curled around my wrist, his thumb gently smoothing over the fresh, warm mark. The touch sent an unexpected shudder down my spine. His pupils dilated into abyssal blackness for a fraction of a second before he released me.

"The registry remains sealed," Caden commanded Elmsworth, who was already stamping the leather-bound certification booklets. "No public disclosures. If a single ledger leaks before the end of the quarter, your family's registry license is permanently revoked."

"Understood, my Lord," Elmsworth gasped, bowing until his forehead nearly touched the counter.

As we walked out into the crisp mid-morning air, Caden paused on the stone steps.

"We keep our alliance contained for now," he said, turning to face me. "My family's internal succession is... contested. Drawing you into the council spotlight prematurely would create unnecessary complications."

"Suits me," I replied, adjusting my sunglasses. "I have no desire to play the doting socialite wife. I have work to do."

Meanwhile, three miles away in the opulent drawing room of the Sullivan manor, Dagny Crosby sipped iced tea from a crystal tumbler, her phone pressed to her ear.

"Is the paperwork ready?" Dagny purred, watching her daughter Hailee admire a ten-carat solitaire diamond on the terrace outside. "Good. Submit the petition to the Alliance magistrate this afternoon. Have Audriana declared mentally unstable. If she cannot look after herself, her mother's trust defaults to Desmond—and then to Hailee."

She hung up, smiling with toxic satisfaction, completely unaware that the prey they intended to trap had just slipped into the den of an apex predator.
