Anger surged through me as I kicked out with all my strength, forcing his hand off my ankle.
He let out a painful cry, his eyes closed as he passed out.
Celine rushed over and held him tightly, then turned to me, roaring:
“Bastard! How dare you kick my Liam? You want to die?!”
“I’ll add another five million! Anyone here can come up and play with him, just don’t kill him!”
My vision began to darken. In a panic, the host quickly ordered, “Untie him! If he dies, how are we going to keep playing with Ms. Alba's money?”
As the ropes loosened, I mustered all the strength I had left and lunged at Celine.
My deformed fingers dragged across the blood-soaked ground, barely managing to scratch out the first stroke of “Kris.” The pain from my severed fingers made me tremble uncontrollably.
Someone asked in confusion,
“What’s this lunatic doing?”
Celine paused in her tracks, her eyes falling to the ground.
When the incomplete “Kris” came into view, her pupils dilated in shock.
“Kris?”
I nodded desperately, tears of blood mixing with the name as they fell onto it.
Seeing my pitiful state, Celine’s chest tightened in pain, and even her throat felt constricted, as though it were filled with wet cotton. But as Liam moaned in discomfort in her arms, without a second thought, Celine stomped hard on my fingers.
“Do you even deserve to write my husband’s name?”
“Liam said he’s fainting from the blood—you dare to scare him like this with all your bleeding?”
Even though my mind was beginning to fade, Celine still wasn’t satisfied with the torment.
She kicked me hard in the side again, sneering, “Looks like they were right—you thought I’d save you, huh? Dream on! You’re not even worth a single hair of my husband’s!”
If she hadn’t been holding Liam in her arms at that moment, maybe her words would have carried more weight.
A large surge of warm liquid gushed from my wounds, and even the soles of Celine’s shoes were stained with blood.
“Celine, this blood loss isn’t normal!”
“You’re getting married tomorrow—having blood on your hands is bad luck. Should we just forget this?”
Someone tried to intervene.
But Celine barked, “Shut your cursed mouth!”
She then ordered the underground fight arena to call a doctor to try and keep me alive.
“If he dies, it’s his own fault for being so weak!”
The pain crashed over me in waves, the agony so intense that even passing out felt like a luxury.
Celine’s friends took turns standing guard over me, making sure that if I died, they’d deal with it quickly.
To them, I was just a living corpse. Their conversation drifted in and out of my ears as they talked freely, uncaring of my suffering.
“Celine’s amazing, huh? She even got Liam to agree to be her lifelong lover!”
“Right? Liam hadn’t even graduated, and he was already her lover. I remember, just not long ago, Kristian proposed to her.”
So, Celine had been cheating on me for two years.
I had no idea how her heart had split in two, how she could act so deeply in love with me, while simultaneously betraying me.
I lay in the blood pool, feeling my life slipping away with every drop.
After what seemed like forever, the bleeding finally stopped.
In my haze, I heard Celine’s footsteps returning.
“Celine, he’s so pitiful—someone’s already gone after his kidneys. Let’s just let him go, consider it a charitable donation...”
Liam, with a look of reluctance, tried to plead on my behalf, but Celine sneered coldly.
“Liam, you’re just too kind! This kind of scum, who can’t be taught by the law, needs someone to discipline him in place of his parents.”
A new round of torment was about to begin.
After all, the rule of the underground fight arena was clear: if you owed money and couldn’t pay, you had to pay with your body. As long as you didn’t die, you could continue being a tool for their stress relief.
My consciousness swayed, teetering between excruciating pain and the desire for unconsciousness.
