I’m a mortuary restoration specialist.
On the night before my wedding, I restored the body of an unnamed woman—only to find out it was Celine's mother, who had been missing for days.
I barely had time to tell her the news before I was bound and dragged to an underground fighting arena.
They destroyed my face, poisoned my voice, and after drugging me, they forced me onto the stage to be auctioned off as a stress-relief toy.
With my eyes swollen shut, I could barely see, but I caught a glimpse of Celine making out with her little lover amidst the cheers.
“Celine, is it true that Kristian is back to messing with corpses? No wonder you came here to spend your bachelorette party with Liam!”
After the kiss, Celine hung herself on the man, casually adding, “Kristian loves to handle corpses, and I love to handle Liam—we both have our hobbies! I’m getting married tomorrow, so tonight, I should make Liam happy!”
As the auction began, announcing the stress-relief methods and prices, I struggled to give Celine a warning look.
But she thought I was flirting with her.
Disgusted, she spent two hundred thousand to secure the top bid for a hundred slaps across my face.
——
Celine was invited onto the stage, but she wouldn’t even spare me a second glance.
She put on the special gloves handed to her by the host and raised her hand, landing slap after slap across my face.
By the twentieth slap, my eardrums were ringing.
Warm liquid dripped from the corner of my mouth, and I couldn’t tell whether it was saliva or blood.
Celine shook her wrist and turned to smile sweetly at Liam in the audience.
“Liam, would you like to come up and try? It’s really a great way to release stress!”
“After all, these people are all gamblers who can’t pay their debts, beating them really feels quite satisfying!”
Liam covered his mouth, shaking his head, but excitement flickered in his eyes. “Celine, you do it. Watching you beat them is enough for me!”
His eyes were filled with excitement and provocation, and I couldn’t help but wonder—did he know who I really was?
I struggled to open my eyes wider, making muffled screams through the tape sealing my mouth.
But Liam pointed at me and said, “Celine, it seems like he’s enjoying it. I think you should continue!”
Liam was a psychologist, and his words had a persuasive effect on Celine. But I didn’t want to be beaten, and I certainly didn’t want to die in this foul-smelling place.
As Celine prepared to slap me again, I used all my strength to dodge.
The slap missed, and the host, trying to please Celine, grabbed my hair, forcing me to lift my head.
“It seems our stress-relief toy has some attitude!”
“Ms. Alba, as the highest bidder for tonight, we’re offering you two special services for free.”
The host announced various humiliations I had gone through in the gray areas of life. After hearing that, Celine no longer held back.
She discarded the blood-stained gloves and skimmed through the list of tortures, each one worse than the last, making my heart race with terror.
Sensing my fear, she lingered on each one, commenting on them as if she were reviewing an art piece.
Just last night, these hands gently made me soup. Now, they were stained with my blood.
Her gaze paused on “Bone Correction,” and she suddenly laughed lightly.
“This one looks good. Kristian loves studying human bones. I want to try working with living bones.”
As the current ran through my body, Celine raised a hammer and smashed it down on my wrist.
The pain was unbearable. I heard myself scream in a voice that wasn’t human.
'Celine, do you even know what you’ve done? The wrist you just shattered belonged to your fiancé, who you’ve spent ten years with!'
But then I remembered—she hadn’t even married me yet and was already cheating with a lover.
This so-called love seemed like nothing more than a joke now.
My agonized scream caused the audience to erupt into cheers.
