After the Death of Her Genius Son, His Wife Knelt Down to Look For the Crematorium

My request to stay was only a rebuke from Alanna.

After the rebuke, she rolled her eyes at me impatiently, but she had no intention of staying.

“I have an urgent matter. Take good care of Godfrey.”

The urgent matter she mentioned was just to accompany Humphrey and his son.

Seeing her walk to the door to change shoes, without even opening the door to look at Godfrey, I couldn’t help but clench my fists.

“Alanna, do you like being a cheap mother to others so much?”

Alanna turned her head and looked at me, narrowing her eyes dangerously.

“Jordan, stop being mean. Willard is such a well-behaved and simple child, worthy of my love!”

So, Godfrey and I were not worthy?

Watching her slam the door without hesitation, I sneered in my heart.

In this case, Alanna, you were not worthy of my mercy!

That night, I did not go back to the master bedroom but squeezed in a little bed with my son.

He listened to my stories and told me secrets and for the first time, he did not mention Alanna.

I knew that he, like me many years ago, had completely given up on Alanna.

In fact, as early as when Humphrey returned to Agoburg and Alanna left me with a fever to meet him at the airport, I didn’t want her as a person.

But Godfrey didn’t want us to divorce. He didn’t want to be a child from a single-parent family, nor did he want to lose his mother.

I refused to divorce Alanna because I didn’t want Godfrey’s growth to be affected.

But I didn’t expect that Alanna’s preference for Humphrey and his son would be to the point of hurting her own son.

I touched Godfrey’s little face with pity and felt that I owed him a lot.

The next day, it rained heavily in the whole city.

The rare silence at the table made Alanna a little uncomfortable.

Alanna coughed uncomfortably, touched Godfrey’s head and said, “Godfrey, can mom take you to school today?”

Hearing this, my fingers that were contacting the taxi stopped.

Godfrey was not as happy as Alanna imagined, but just looked at the heavy rain outside the window in silence and nodded calmly.

This attitude made Alanna frown, stood up with a bang and dragged me to the kitchen.

“Jordan, did you say bad things about me to your son?”

“No.”

I shook her hand away impatiently.

Alanna snorted and laughed. “If you didn’t, how could Godfrey treat me like this? He used to like talking to me the most.”

I chuckled.

Yes, Godfrey used to like talking to her the most.

Every time at breakfast, he would chatter with her about what he saw and heard.

But how did Alanna react to it?

Her patience with Godfrey never exceeded ten minutes and she would frown and teach Godfrey a lesson.

“Godfrey, don’t talk while eating or sleeping. Follow the rules at the table.”

Every time Godfrey heard this, he always fell silent with a disappointed look on his face.

Alanna never thought that behind Godfrey’s chattering was a son’s heart that longed to be close to his mother.

Godfrey was never a child who didn’t follow the rules, but Alanna was too busy.

She went out early and came back late, either for social events or for overtime at the company.

The only time Godfrey could be with her was to have breakfast together every morning.

Alanna never realized that in this family, she was always the missing corner.

My laughter irritated Alanna.

She pulled me hard and rebuked me unhappily, “Why are you laughing when I ask you a question? You are so sarcastic every day and you have led the child astray.”

I turned my head away and met Godfrey’s gaze and the fire in my heart instantly subsided.
