Edwina had just hung up the phone when Ronnie and Diane came back from buying food.
Seeing Edwina wake up, Ronnie quickly ran to her side and supported her, saying, “Edwina, you're awake? How are you? Are you feeling uncomfortable anywhere?
“Are you thirsty? I'll pour you a glass of water.”
Edwina did not say anything, but just lowered her head and looked quietly at the phone in her hand.
Ronnie thought Edwina was trying hard to see, so he quickly explained, “I’m sorry, Edwina. Because of the car accident, your retina has detached and you will never be able to see again.
“But it's okay. Even if you cannot see, I won't despise you. You still have me. From now on, I will be your eyes. Don't be sad, okay?”
As he spoke, Ronnie's voice even began to sound tearful, as if he was really worried about Edwina.
Edwina could not help but sneer in her heart as she listened to Ronnie's affectionate words.
If she had not heard the truth, she would probably have believed Ronnie's words, thinking that Ronnie was so good to her and would be kept in the dark by Ronnie for her whole life.
Edwina looked up at Ronnie. Her eyesight was not good that moment and she hated herself even more for having bad eyesight before. She had not seen the true face of Ronnie as a scumbag earlier, which led to her current situation.
Ronnie did not know why. He knew Edwina could not see him at that moment, but he still felt guilty when Edwina stared at him.
He reached out his hand to cover Edwina's eyes and said, “Oh, dear, you must be very sad.
“Are you hungry? I bought you some chicken soup. Can I feed you some?”
As he spoke, Ronnie scooped out the chicken soup, cooled it down and handed it to Edwina, “Come on, open your mouth.”
Seeing Ronnie treating Edwina like a child, Diane was so angry that her teeth itched.
She quickly interrupted him and said, “Ronnie, haven't you eaten too? Eat something first and I'll feed Edwina.”
As she spoke, Diane snatched the bowl from Ronnie, pretending to be scalded and accidentally spilled the hot chicken soup on Edwina.
Edwina screamed in pain from the burns and stood up from the bed. However, because she could not see clearly, she stepped on the chicken soup on the floor, slipped and fell.
The IV drip was torn off when she fell to the ground and the needle remained on the back of his hand, bleeding continuously.
Diane also stood up with a cry of surprise as if she was scalded. Seeing this, Ronnie hurriedly pulled Diane's hand with concern and asked distressingly, “How is it? Are you okay?”
Diane shook her head, then looked at Edwina who was lying on the ground and said aggrievedly, “Ah Edwina, I'm sorry, I didn't mean it.”
As Diane spoke, Ronnie's sight fell on Edwina who had fallen to the ground. Ronnie helped Edwina up from the ground and seeing her bleeding hand, he quickly called a nurse.
Ronnie was afraid that Edwina would blame Diane, so he quickly defended her, “Edwina, let me introduce you to Diane, my sister-in-law. She fed you out of kindness, she did not do it on purpose, please don’t blame her.”
Diane pulled Edwina's hand aggrievedly, “I'm sorry Edwina, I really didn't mean it.”
Diane said this while continuously pressing the needle in Edwina's hand.
Edwina shook off Diane's hand in pain.
Diane fell to the ground and said aggrievedly, “Edwina…."
Ronnie quickly helped Diane up and scolded Edwina, “Edwina, what are you doing? I told you that she did not mean it, why did you push her? You're going too far!”
Diane said softly, “It's okay, it's my fault, don't blame Edwina.”
Seeing Ronnie trying hard to protect Diane, Edwina's heart ached again.
Thinking about how Ronnie had been doting on her over the past few years, Edwina had always believed that Ronnie still had some sincerity towards her.

Tears welled up in her eyes and Edwina thought to herself, there were still three days left.
