We Will Never See Each Other Again

“Go quickly and ask the doctor to be gentle and not hurt Jacquelyn's child!”

Ruth’s figure completely disappeared, he carried me back to bed after I had cried so hard that I was exhausted.

Before leaving, he stroked my hair gently. “Jacquelyn, have a good sleep. When you wake up, everything will be back to normal!”

He did not dare look at me again, turned around and left in a hurry.

After he left, I struggled to get up and rushed to the hospital.

But the moment I got off the bus, I saw fireworks blooming in the night sky.

The doctors and nurses passing by me were discussing in a low voice, “Have you heard? These fireworks were specially set off by Mr. Christen to celebrate his child's complete recovery.”

“It's just a pity for his nephew. His blood is almost drained out and he is still lying in the Intensive Care Unit for treatment.”

I stood there in a daze, feeling as if my internal organs were being torn apart and the pain was excruciating.

When I stumbled into the hospital, I happened to see Linwood supporting Ruth as she walked out.

The moment he saw me, he still could not hide the joy in his eyes. “Jacquelyn, why are you here? Did not I tell you to have a good sleep?

“Are you worried about the child? Don’t worry, he's fine. I've found the best team to treat him.

“It's good that you're here. Your aunt has been too tired recently. I'll go back with her to rest. You stay and take care of Noelle for the next few days.”

I said nothing, just gritted my teeth and knelt at the door of the Intensive Care Unit.

But no matter how much I prayed, I eventually received the news of my child's death.

Looking at his body that was as pale as paper, I could not help crying and fainted.

When I woke up again, Linwood was still nowhere to be seen in the ward.

There were only a few words of concern from him on my phone.

He asked me how Noelle was doing and when he could come to pick us up and take us home.

I just find it ridiculous that he was so indifferent that he did not even know about his own son's death.

When I was struggling to get up, the message from my childhood sweetheart came in.

He asked me to get to the designated address as soon as possible and someone would pick me up and leave.

I silently wrote down the address, deleted the message and left the phone on the bedside table.

There was a recording in it, which was a conversation I secretly recorded while enduring the heartbreak on the night I learned the truth.

Also left behind was a suicide note written in my blood by biting my fingertips.

I wanted him to know that he was the one who pushed me into despair.

For the rest of his life, I want him to live in guilt and unrest, a life worse than death.

After doing all this, I staggered to the morgue.

Ignoring the doctor's obstruction, I picked up the child's body and left resolutely.

A day later, Linwood became a little impatient as he had not received my reply for a long time.

Ruth’s child has recovered and it was time for the fake death drama to come to an end.

He ignored Ruth's pleas and insisted on buying the plane tickets, sending them to the airport.

After completing the formalities, he did not dare to delay at all and rushed to the hospital to take me and the child home.

But just after parking the car, he received a call from his assistant.

His voice was trembling in the receiver, “Mr. Christen, the hospital called and said your child has died of blood loss.

“The police also called and said that Mrs. Jacquelyn left a suicide note and someone saw her jumping off a cliff holding the child's body.”
