"Exactly! Just look at those photos plastered all over the villa. So shameless. It's a pity our CEO was so good to her and she repaid him by cuckolding him so many times."
The grave was quickly dug halfway open, revealing a crooked, half-rotted coffin. Then, a few bodyguards spat in contempt before dragging and kicking the coffin to James's feet.
Perhaps three years had faded much of the hatred, because a strange conflict flashed in James's heart.
However, at that very moment, a bodyguard suddenly shouted, "Mr. Gibson, there's an unformed fetus here. Judging by the bone age, it's probably three or four months old."
James's face instantly darkened as he said, "That flirty slut, she even got a child! Throw that little bastard away and smash this coffin!"
My long-dead heart suddenly ached.
Watching the scene unfold before me, I screamed soundlessly. "James, don't do this. That's … your child."
Sadly, James couldn't hear my voice. He only stared intently at the coffin before him because he realized that what was inside was not my remains but a human face preserved in formalin.
Everyone there gasped in horror. Meanwhile, the livestream chat erupted with speculation.
[What's going on? Where are Mia's remains? Why is there only a face left?]
[Holy crap, this must be a prop. Could Mia have faked her death?]
[It's possible. As a big name in the entertainment industry, commissioning a custom skin mask wouldn't be difficult for Mia. But why would she fake her death? Could it be to harm Goddess Juliet?]
Seeing this message, James's eyes turned cold. He sneered, "Mia, I thought you'd learned your lesson during those years in the mental hospital. I never imagined you'd become even more ruthless, learning to fake your death to harm others. Just wait and see. If I find you, I'll make sure you die a miserable death!"
The livestream chat erupted in fury, but only Malcolm sensed something amiss. He pulled out his compass and began scanning the area.
Before he could finish the summons, his entire body suddenly collapsed to his knees with a thud. "Such powerful resentment," he sighed.
He stared at the patterns on the coffin, trying to open his 'Third Eye' to peer into its mystery. But in less than three seconds, trails of bloody tears slowly trickled from the corners of his eyes.
Malcolm clutched his eyes in pain, saying, "The Mother-Child Soul-Severing Hex! What kind of deep-seated hatred deserves such a vicious hex being set?"
He quickly slapped a talisman onto his head and swiftly waved his mahogany cross a few times. A sudden gust howled through the room, sending dried jasmine petals swirling in every direction.
As the wind died down, a videotape dropped out of a cabinet along with the petals. The label read: Mia's Memoirs.
Before Malcolm could speak, James's heart skipped a beat.
That film was one he had invested in. Its content was simple, just a record of two people meeting and falling in love. Unfortunately, it never made it to theatres because they divorced.
This film seemed to stir the softest memories in James's heart and his expression became incredibly complicated.
After a brief hesitation, he pressed the play button himself.
With a beep, a familiar face appeared on the screen. Actually, the content wasn't the sweet daily life James had imagined.
In the video, I waved at the camera and spoke slowly, "I feel like I'm dying. This recording is my last words. James, I hope you see it."
"October 7th, sunny. Today is my nineteenth day in the mental hospital. It's also Juliet's birthday."
