Trapped with My Billionaire Stepbrother

POV: Ivy

I woke up to blinding morning sunlight cutting across the white sheets of an unfamiliar, luxurious hotel suite. My head throbbed with a dull, rhythmic ache, the lingering hangover of the chemical fire that had incinerated my veins hours ago.

For a few disorienting seconds, I just stared at the ceiling. Then, the fragmented memories of last night crashed into my mind. The drug Eric had slipped into my champagne had stripped away every ounce of my rationality and fear. I remembered the filthy VIP room, the desperate crash of my lips against the stranger's, and how that single, reckless collision had instantly spiraled into absolute, uncontrollable chaos. The man in the charcoal suit had not pushed me away. Instead, consumed by the same sudden, feverish hunger, he had swept me out of that underground hell and brought me here. We had spent the entire night tearing at each other in a drug-fueled, mindless haze, completely unable to stop ourselves.

But the heavy, animalistic heat of the night was entirely gone now.

A crisp slip of paper fluttered onto the mahogany nightstand, landing inches from my bare shoulder.

"One hundred thousand," the man said.

I pulled the twisted hotel sheet up to my collarbone, ignoring the soreness radiating through my muscles.

He stood at the foot of the bed, entirely dressed. He adjusted the cuffs of his tailored suit, his posture radiating absolute authority. The dark, predatory desire he had shown me in the dark had vanished, replaced by an impenetrable wall of ice.

"Take the money and leave," he ordered, his tone completely void of warmth. "The drug in your system compromised both of our judgments last night. Treat what happened as a completed transaction."

I stared at the check. Six zeros stared back at me. It was exactly the amount I needed to stop the foreclosure on my apartment, to fix the massive debt Eric had just chained to my name.

My fingers hovered over the thick paper.

"A transaction," I repeated, my voice barely above a whisper.

"Do not complicate things," the stranger said. He picked up his expensive watch from the dresser and strapped it onto his wrist. "You were desperate, and we both lost control. You provided a service to me in that bed, and I am compensating you for it. Take it and go."

A bitter laugh scraped my throat.

He thought I was just another purchase. A messy, drug-induced mistake that could be easily solved and scrubbed clean with a signature.

I reached out and snatched the check from the nightstand.

His jaw tightened. He probably expected me to thank him, to fold the paper away and scurry out of his sight with my tail between my legs.

Instead, I gripped the edges of the paper and ripped it straight down the middle.

The man froze.

The sharp sound of tearing paper echoed in the quiet suite. I stacked the halves and tore them again. I kept tearing until the check was nothing but useless confetti in my palm.

I walked right up to him and threw the shredded pieces directly at his polished Oxford shoes.

"Keep your compensation," I said, meeting his icy stare without flinching. "I do not sell myself."

I dropped the sheet, grabbed my clothes from the armchair, and walked into the bathroom. I slammed the door shut before he could utter another word.

Two hours later, I sprinted up the stone steps of St. Jude's downtown chapel, tugging at the hem of my only decent navy slip dress.

Three days ago, my mother, Sarah, had dropped a massive bombshell over the phone.

"I am getting married," she had announced. "A highly private ceremony. We are forming a new family, and you need to be there."

I shoved the heavy wooden doors open.

The hinges groaned loudly, echoing through the cavernous space. The ceremony was already wrapping up.

Sarah stood near the altar, radiant in a simple ivory gown. She slid a thick gold band onto the finger of an older, distinguished man.

Thomas Blackwood. The billionaire real estate mogul.

"You made it!" Thomas beamed, catching sight of me in the aisle. He waved me forward, his smile wide and welcoming. "Come here, let me introduce you to my son. He just flew in from overseas for the occasion."

I forced a polite smile and walked down the red carpet, my heels sinking into the plush fabric.

"He is going to be your new brother," Sarah chimed in, her voice pitched high with excitement. She clutched Thomas's arm tightly. "We are all going to live together."

Thomas turned toward the shadows near the altar. "Step into the light, son. Meet your new family."

A tall figure stepped out from the alcove.

My polite smile vanished. The blood in my veins turned to absolute ice.

Standing at the end of the aisle, serving as the best man, was the stranger from the hotel.

He wore the exact same charcoal-gray suit.

His eyes locked onto mine. The casual boredom in his posture instantly shattered, hardening into freezing, terrifying hostility.

He stared at me, then shifted his gaze to my mother. His hands balled into fists at his sides, the knuckles turning stark white.

"Kyle," Thomas said, completely oblivious to the sudden tension suffocating the room. "Meet your new stepsister, Ivy."

Kyle took a slow step forward. His gaze raked over my navy dress, stopping at my face.

"A pleasure," Kyle muttered. The words sounded like a death sentence.

"It is nice to meet you," I lied, my voice trembling slightly.

Kyle did not respond. He simply stared, dissecting me with his eyes.

Ten minutes later, the newlyweds wandered out to the courtyard to sign the registry and take photos. I slipped down a narrow, empty side corridor, desperate to find an exit and escape the crushing weight of the chapel.

A heavy hand clamped onto my shoulder, spinning me around.

My back slammed violently against the plaster wall.

Kyle caged me in, his forearm pressing against the wall just above my shoulder.

"Did you plan it?" he demanded, his voice a low, gravelly rasp.

"Plan what?" I pushed at his chest, but he felt like a wall of solid marble.

His fingers snapped around my jaw, tilting my face up. His grip lacked any of the feverish heat from hours ago. It was purely punitive and entirely cruel.

"Do not play stupid," he sneered. "Fifteen years ago, my biological mother walked out on this family for a ten-million-dollar payout. I know exactly how women like you operate."

My skin flared hot. "Let go of me."

"Your mother aimed for the king," he continued, his thumb digging slightly into my skin. "And you aimed for the prince to secure the rest of the estate. Tell me, did you track my flight? Did you know exactly which underground club I would be inspecting last night?"

"You are insane," I spat, trying to wrench my face free.

"Faking a drug-fueled breakdown to sleep with your future stepbrother before you even knew my name," he mocked, his eyes dark with absolute judgment. "That takes a special kind of desperation. Your methods are even cheaper than your mother's."

Anger erupted in my chest, hot and blinding.
