Chapter 1 of Torn by the Alpha's Lies
I followed my mate's scent to the house we were going to share as the new Alpha pair in a few months. After scanning my hand, the door clicked open. Inside, there were male and female clothes scattered all over the living room.
My lips trembled as I heaved myself up the stairs, the pain getting worse. The door of the master bedroom was cracked open with muffled sounds coming through it. I peeked through the crack in the door and confirmed my worst nightmare.
My mate and Julia, a shewolf in the pack embracing each other in passion, not letting go for a second.
Stumbling to the wall beside, I slumped to the ground. The wounds and pain in my stomach made sense. These kinds of wounds were the only ones one could get when their mate cheated on them.
“Thane, you're so…” Julia moaned loudly. “I can't believe…Clara never allowed you to touch her.”
“We have that rouge to thank for landing her in the hospital,” he replied in a hoarse voice. “If not, how will we have this time together?”
My heart shattered when I heard his voice. I had saved everything for Thane—my first kiss, my first boyfriend and after our mating ceremony, my first night with anyone and this was how he repaid me.
“Oh, Thane. I love you,” Julia whispered.
“I love you too, baby,” he responded.“And Clara is nothing compared to you,” Thane spat, adding extra venom when he said my name. “Once we are mated and she bears my child, I will reject her. Then we can be together.”
I pressed my fingers over my mouth sobbing quietly, unable to believe that my soulmate was such a monster.
....
I fell backwards in relief as the pack warriors killed off the last set of rouges, my muscles aching from excessive workouts. Being the daughter of the Beta, I was expected to train harder than anyone to defend the pack and my future Alpha, Thane Monroe.
Suddenly, a blinding pain erupted in my stomach. A rouge had stabbed me right before it died. I put my hand to my stomach and hissed when my finger started burning. There was silver in the wound that slowed down my recovery, since wolves were allergic to silver.
As the pain increased, I looked around and called for help.
Thane was about thirty feet away and would hear me with his Alpha senses that were sharper than anything. “Thane! Help!” I called weakly.
His head raised and he glanced in my direction but he remained where he was. There was a large tree blocking me so I thought he didn't see me and I called him again. When he didn't respond, I looked around the tree, trying to see what he was so focused on.
It was Julia, the Gamma's first daughter. She sat on the ground with a pitiful expression on her face. She didn't see any injuries like the other wolves which was unusual unless Thane protected her through the battle.
Before I could question it anymore, I fell backwards and my vision went black.
A sharp pain in my stomach jolted me into consciousness. I hunched over, nearly falling off the hospital bed. “What the hell is this?” I whispered to myself.
I called for my wolf’s help to resist the pain; she didn't come out. With much effort, I stood with shaky feet and dragged myself to the bathroom.
I held the sink before raising my shirt. The sight nearly made me throw up.
It was a collection of patches of different colours—yellow, red, purple, green—like someone had hit my stomach over and over without giving me time to heal.
I shook my head, unable to believe what I was seeing was real. No, this couldn't be happening to me.
Forcing down the bile that threatened to crawl up my throat, I stumbled out of the hospital room. “I would have to see for myself,” I muttered, limping as fast as I could.
I followed Jason's scent to the house we were going to share as the new Alpha pair in a few months. After scanning my hand, the door clicked open. Inside, there were male and female clothes scattered all over the living room.

How many times had Thane told me that he loved me over the past two years? Had it all been a lie?
“B-but Clara–”
“Clara is nothing compared to you,” Thane spat, adding extra venom when he said my name. “Once we are mated and she bears my child, I will reject her. Then we can be together.”
I pressed my fingers over my mouth sobbing quietly, unable to believe that my soulmate was such a monster.
“When will that be?” Julia asked. “It's getting difficult to pretend that I'm okay with the two of you being together.”
“Tomorrow,” he breathed out. “I'll mark her. When she wakes up from her coma, I'll tell her it was to give her the strength that would save her life.”
I stilled, backing away from the door as quickly as I could, careful not to alert the two of them. Thane wanted to mark me forcefully.
Flinging open the door, I ran out of the house. “I need to get out of this back.”
