They Took My Child by Force, and Now They Want Me Back

I was one step away from completing my mission to be a successful raider character.

Just one. All I had to do was give birth to the male lead’s child.

That's what the system had promised me: even though all three of my targets had lost every ounce of affection for me—even if their favorability levels had dropped to zero— that as long as I succeeded in giving birth to the child, I would be considered a successful Raider.

But everything fell apart in my seventh month of pregnancy when my cold CEO husband, Sean Blake, barged into the hospital. He was also my childhood friend—the one I used to trust—and personally wheeled me into the operating room.

My mom and dad stood outside and calmly signed the surgical consent forms.

No matter how much I screamed and begged… no one listened. They wanted to remove my baby. Not to love. Not to save the baby. Just to harvest the umbilical cord blood to save my "dear sister,” Vanessa Carter.

I was left alone on the cold operating table, listening helplessly as my baby's cries faded into silence. Then, the system's voice echoed in my head:

[Mission Failed. Life Termination Initiated.]

But as my soul began to fade, something unexpected happened.

Those same people who once asked why I wouldn't just die.

Suddenly, they lost their minds when I actually did.

——

In the obstetrics and gynaecology department of the hospital, the doctor put down the instrument and gently congratulated me, “Your baby is very healthy. From what I can see, it would be a good-looking baby.”

I exhaled with relief, preparing to get out of the bed.

Then, the door of the examination room was violently pulled open and a group of people rushed in, the leader was my husband, Sean Blake, the president of the Blake Family. It was also my third Raider object, but the only one he had ever cared about till now was Vanessa.

The doctor was just about to angrily rebuke but was dragged out by the black-clothed bodyguards.

Sean walked up step by step, that pair of cold and emotionless eyes, let my back chill. He glanced at my stomach and gave me a look that said, “Well, at least you're still useful.”

Then, the bodyguards grabbed me. I had a bad feeling and struggled up frantically, “Sean, what are you doing?!”

He came over and pinched my chin with ice-cold fingers, “Vanessa is sick. She needs umbilical cord blood from a direct relative. You went through all the trouble to conceive this sinful seed… at least it won’t be a complete waste.”

I stared at him in disbelief, “But Sean, the baby’s only seven months—what are you trying to do?”

He scoffed. “Of course, it's to give birth early. Don’t try to guilt-trip me with that child.

He should be honoured to help save Vanessa.”

My head buzzed, it hit me like thunder.

He was going to take out my baby—force a premature delivery to save Vanessa.

Tears welled in my eyes as I pleaded, “Please, Sean. He’s not ready. If you do this, he won’t survive! Just wait three more months—I’ll be in labor. You can take the cord blood then!”

He didn’t even spare me a glance.

"Three months? Sounds to me like you're just trying to stall and you just want to drag Vanessa to death.”

How it could drag Vanessa to death? Vanessa is not sick at all. She never had been.

It was just another trap to ruin me.

Tears streamed down my face. “Sean, please… if you do this, the baby will die. And so will I.”

He sneered. “Scared now? Should’ve thought about that when you schemed your way into getting pregnant.”

He waved his hand. "Enough. That child was a mistake. If he dies, it just means he wasn't meant to live."

Before I could scream, one of the guards shoved something over my mouth, muffling my cries.

Cold tears slid down my cheeks.

All I could feel was despair.

Then, the system’s voice returned, colder than ever:

[Detected that the child is about to be born in less than a month, mission failed, mission failed!]

The mother and the child will be wiped out together.

After an instant of silence, the system asked me if I had one more chance, asking me if I wanted to try.

[A final option is available. ]

[Accumulate enough regret values for the Raider character and the mission will be considered complete. Do you wish to proceed?]

Looking at Sean anxiously arranging the operating room and doctors, I shook my head with tears in my eyes.

I know there was no chance. Even if I died, they wouldn't shed a single tear for me.

In the end, I'm still no match for Vanessa at all.
