They Denied My Mourning—So I Made Them Regret It

In the crowd, there were those just watching the drama, others blindly jumping in, and plenty simply going with the flow.

I looked at the swarm of greedy, petty faces and said slowly, enunciating every word. “Don’t you all have elderly people at home?”

“Then allow me to wish each and every one of them good health,” I deadpanned.

“Leonard, what the hell do you mean by that? No wonder someone in your family died—your mouth is vile!”

“I’ve never heard him talk about his parents before, and he barely even mentions his grandma. Could he be an orphan and just raised by his grandmother? Tsk, tsk.”

“Leonard, you don’t even seem that upset. Just come to the meeting already. If there are financial losses, who’s going to be responsible?”

I clenched my fists, but there was no use arguing against the crowd.

“I will take responsibility.”

Oliver stood up and shook out his shoulders.

“You?” He laughed. “Who the hell are you? You think this is some petty expense? Like a few hundred bucks? Even if we sold you, it wouldn’t cover the cost! If I were you, I’d swallow my pride and get back to that meeting!”

I stared at him, each word sharp and cold. “I said—I can afford it.”

Oliver scoffed, “Don’t think I didn’t do my homework. You’re just a bottom-feeder, a parasite in this company. The only reason you even made it was because of dumb luck.”

Back then, I just wanted to get close to my fiancée. So I had my assistant forge a simple identity.

Now, it’s clear—that was pointless.

Getting to know this so-called fiancée was also pointless.

I took off my employee badge and held it out to the so-called “executive assistant.”

He smirked as he reached for it—but I dropped it right onto the floor instead.

He sneered, and I smiled.

“I said I’ll cover the cost. Every bit of loss that came from today—I’ll pay for all of it.”

“Do you even know how much—”

“Hundred thousand? Million? Ten million? A billion? I’ll cover it.” I narrowed my eyes, lips curved into a calm smile.

“Is that enough, Assistant Mike?”

I thought that would be the end of it.

But unexpectedly, Oliver followed after me.

“Trying to run? I’ve seen your type a thousand times—bluffers with big mouths. A million? A billion? Oh please. Have you ever even seen that kind of money? Or are you talking about the joss paper for your grandma’s funeral?”

I let out a cold chuckle. “Lydia really has raised herself a fine little dog.”

I lowered my head and dialed a number.

A gentle voice answered on the other end.

“Hello?”

“Come find me.” I sighed.

“Right now? Where are you?” she asked.

“Third floor. Your company.”

“Got it.”

I handed the phone out toward him.

“Your master’s on the line. Want to take a listen?”

Oliver scoffed. “You think you can fool me? You’re just some lowlife leech. And you think you’re connected to President Stewart? Do you even know who she is? She's the only daughter of the chairman! Practically the queen of the whole province!”

I shrugged and pulled the phone back.

“You heard that, didn’t you?”

After saying that, I hung up.

Soon enough, Oliver had his security team lining both sides of the third floor. Not just that—looking out the window, I could see the first floor was packed too. Locked down tight.

No doubt, by now, every single phone had a photo of me in it.

“Just remember this,” I said calmly. “It’s easy to invite a god in, but hard to send one away. If you dare stop me today, don’t expect to get rid of me so easily.”

Oliver laughed and opened his arms, thinking he already had me cornered.

“Bring it on.”

I clapped my hands, and the elevator began to move.

Everyone’s eyes were glued to me.

And right then, with everyone watching—I calmly sat down on the floor.

“What the hell is he doing? Is he nuts?”

“I've seen people brag before, but not like this guy. Now that he knows he’s trapped, he’s pretending to be crazy.”

“Tsk. He's clearly just faking it, trying to weasel his way out. Give it a minute, and he’ll be on his knees begging.”
