Chapter 1 of The Whole Family Aided My Nephew in Snatching My Porsche

My newly-licensed nephew, drunk, took a liking to my Porsche.

Without a second thought, my mother snatched the car keys from my hand and handed them to him, "Everything your aunt has is yours! Don't be shy with her."

But then, my nephew crashed the car while driving drunk.

My brother grabbed me by the collar and shoved me towards the driver's seat, "Just say it was you driving, got it?! If anything happens to my son, you're the criminal of our family!"

I slapped him across the face, snapping back, "Wake up! Who wants to be part of your family?!"

——

After failing the driving test multiple times, my nephew, David White, finally got his license.

My brother happily announced in the family chat that he'd treat everyone to a meal to celebrate.

After work, I rushed to Sea Sky Restaurant and pushed open the private room door to find only leftovers.

My brother, Max White, frowned at me, "Why are you so late? Do you even have a sense of time? Do you care about your elders at all?"

Confused, I checked my phone. Had I gotten the time wrong?

No...

I pointed to the message he sent, "Look, you said tonight at 7:30 at Sea Sky Restaurant, right? I even arrived five minutes early."

Max snatched my phone away, dismissively saying, "So what if I sent the wrong time? How can you be a company CEO with such a small brain? Everyone knew it was at 5:30 except you. Whose fault is that?"

I tried to defend myself, but my brother called over the waiter, "Punish you by making the pay today, and remember this lesson. Don't let there be a next time, understand?"

My mother was packing up the leftovers without even looking up. My father sat back with his legs crossed, eyes closed. My sister-in-law was whispering something to her beloved son, occasionally giving me a strange look.

I felt like an outsider.

The waiter knocked and entered, "Hello, who will pay the bill?"

Max nudged his chin towards me, "She will."

After a whole day of meetings, I was starving.

Not only did my family not offer a welcoming face, but they also punished me by making me pay.

The waiter smiled kindly at me, "Miss, the total is 8,732 dollars. Would you like to scan or pay cash?"

In a restaurant where the average price per person was 100 dollars, the meal for five people amounted to over 8,000 dollars.

I took the bill from the waiter, murmuring, "There must be some mistake..."

Max quickly walked over, snatched the bill from my hand, and shoved it back at the waiter, "What are you looking at? Just pay and hurry up. We still have things to do."

"If I'm paying, I should at least know what I'm paying for."

My brother, a long-time jobless leech at home, and his wife, who hadn't worked since giving birth to David, depended on my parents' pensions to scrape by.

I couldn't bear to see my parents suffer, so helping out was common.

Sure that I'd be the scapegoat, Max motioned the waiter to show me the bill.

I couldn't help but ask, "Did you drink two bottles of Lafite?"

My mother finally looked up from her packing, "What's the matter? You think you're too good now that you're a CEO? You're coming home to show off, aren't you?"

"Mom... that's not what I meant. If you drank it, that's fine. Don't be upset."

I was about to pay when Max pulled out a QR code for me to scan, "The Lafite wasn't for us. It's for David's father-in-law. David's girlfriend is pregnant. If it were a boy..."

David's girlfriend, I suddenly remembered the girl I saw during the holidays with bright red hair, tattooed arms, heavy eyeliner, and as thin as a stick.

I clearly remembered my parents and sister-in-law being against their relationship.

But now, because she was pregnant, and it was a "boy," nothing else mattered?

Max's face grew smug, "My David is impressive. At a young age, not only did he get his license, but he's also carrying on our family line. We're going to propose soon, and the girl's family wants a 500,000 dollars dowry. Transfer it to me now."

Max's nonchalant demeanor made me doubt my own ears, prompting me to ask again, "500,000?"

"Yeah. If you want to give more, that's fine too."

"I'm the one paying, aren't I?"

"Who else is going to pay?" My mother glared at me furiously, "Your brother doesn't have that kind of money. I can't believe you even have to ask such a question. I've wasted all these years raising you, a heartless, wasteful child!"

My mother grew more agitated, even starting to cough.

My sister-in-law quickly patted her back to soothe her, then turned and scolded me, "Look what you've done to Mom! Hurry up and transfer the money. Do you want to kill our mother?"

I finally realized how bizarre the atmosphere in the private room had been all evening and spoke up directly.

"What did I do wrong? Can we just talk this out, please?"

Eventually, my nephew spoke up, gritting his teeth, "I saw the post in your Moments. You bought a Porsche worth over a million. How could you do that without consulting us?"

Faced with my nephew's accusation, I was dumbfounded.

It's my money and my car. Why do I need to consult anyone?

I clenched my fists, scoffing coldly, "So this is why you all ostracized me tonight and wouldn't even let me eat?"

My father slammed the table and stood up, "Someone as selfish as you, who doesn't care about her parents, doesn't deserve to eat! We should have disowned you!"

With that, he walked out with his hands behind his back.

My brother hurried after him, not forgetting to turn back and warn me, "Hurry up and transfer the dowry to my card, got it?!"

My sister-in-law packed up the food my mother had wrapped and left too, glaring at me as she passed.

My nephew came out and stretched out his hand to me, "Let me drive the Porsche."

A strong smell of alcohol hit me, and I instinctively stepped back, covering my nose, "You've been drinking. You can't drive. That's illegal!"

My mother, seeing this, grabbed my bag and rummaged through it, "How would anyone know he's been drinking if you don't say? It's rare for your nephew to ask you for something. Just agree quickly!"

After finding the car keys, she happily asked my nephew, "Is this the one?"

My nephew nodded obediently.

As I tried to snatch my keys back, my mother slapped my hand forcefully and turned to my nephew with a loving smile, "David, grandma decides that this car will be yours from now on. Your aunt doesn't have children, so everything she has will be yours anyway, don't be shy, be good~"

The room emptied.

I stood there stunned, replaying my mother's words in my head.

Although my parents had always favored my brother, I never expected they'd only see me as a money-making machine.

In their eyes, nothing truly belonged to me.

It was utterly ridiculous.

"Miss, are you okay?"

I came to my senses at the waiter's prompt.

I politely refused her and left my brother's phone number, "Whoever ate, you ask them to pay!"

...

As I chased out of the restaurant, I saw my nephew driving off with the whole family.

My heart pounded wildly, and I hurriedly hailed a cab to follow them.

As soon as I got in the taxi, I called my mother.

On the tenth ring, she finally answered.

"Mom! David's been drinking. He can't drive. Make him stop."

From the other end, my mother's indifferent voice came through, "David drives very steadily. Don't make a fuss."

My brother grabbed the phone, "Cathy White, I'm warning you, stop making trouble. David likes your car and you should be satisfied with that. Otherwise, I'll make you sell the car and buy a new one that David likes. That's it, come with me to transfer the ownership tomorrow. Now, transfer the dowry money to me."

"Beep beep..."

The call was disconnected, and I trembled with anger.

Suddenly, I heard a sharp screech of tires ahead, followed by several screams.

The taxi also braked harshly and stopped on the road.

I had a bad feeling, "Driver, please, pull over!"
