The Regret You’ll Carry Forever

I impatiently broke free from his grip, but suddenly a car barreled straight toward me.

I couldn't dodge in time and was knocked flying.

Blood spattered everywhere as I crashed heavily to the ground, with blood pooling beneath me.

In agony, I convulsed and reached out to shout at Benny.

“Save me, save the child.”

Benny’s face turned pale. Just as he was about to come over, Ann stumbled out of the car, crying and threw herself into his arms.

“What should I do, Benny? I just saw you say that Angie was taking the project and the client with her, so I panicked and rushed down to drive after her. I accidentally stepped on the accelerator instead of the brake.”

“I don't want to go to jail, Benny, please help me.”

I struggled, writhing in pain, “Benny..."

I called out to him pleadingly, “This is your child too. You can’t just watch him be killed.”

After a moment of internal conflict, he firmly pulled Ann aside and addressed the police who had arrived on the scene.

“I’m the husband of the pregnant woman. She argued with me and insisted on rushing out, which is why she was hit. It's not this young girl's fault."

He rushed over, grabbed my hand and said, “The child can't be saved. We can't drag an innocent girl into this.”

“Let's just consider this compensation for forcing Ann to leave. Besides, you can't attend the signing ceremony now, so let me and Ann represent you at the meeting and sign the contract.”

“After that, I'll return to the family and treat you well.”

“Benny!” I was so angry that my eyes turned red, “You bastard, you will regret it!”

The doctor hurriedly pulled him aside to get him to sign the papers to send me to the emergency room.

But he only cared about pulling Ann away, striding off.

“Sorry, we have an important meeting to attend. Let her lie in the emergency room for a while. I’ll come back later to sign the papers.”

After saying that, they got in the car and left.

I passed out from the pain.

Ann specially changed into a high-end dress and walked into the venue with her head held high, holding Benny's arm.

Some people asked curiously, “Why didn't Ms. Sullivan come? Isn't Ms. Sullivan in charge of this cooperation?”

Benny said calmly, “Angie has seriously violated the policy and has been fired. This project will be handled by Ann Cortez.”

The person in charge on the other side was stunned, “What did you say? Ms. Sullivan was fired? Then who will be responsible for our cooperation?”

“Of course, it's Ann.”

He looked at Ann, whose excitement was evident on her face and said affectionately, “This collaboration was successful thanks to the new rules Ann established, which optimized many employees who violated regulations, allowing us to successfully secure the Lincoln Family’s collaboration.”

“With such an outstanding employee as the new project leader, we will certainly be able to complete the Lincoln Family’s project even better in the future.”

Ann stood up straight, her face flushed, “Yes, I will definitely live up to Mr. Webster’s expectations. I will achieve even better results than Ms. Sullivan in the future.”

The Lincoln Group representative across from him stood up with a cold expression.

“I apologize, but our project only recognises Ms. Sullivan. Since she is no longer here, I think we should cancel this collaboration.”
