On the eve of our anniversary, my husband, Dominic Prescott, walked hand in hand with his first love, Elsie Stockton, into the hotel.

I dialed Dominic's number, but the person who answered my call was my thirteen-year-old son, Gavin Prescott.

He said, "Dad is having a parent-teacher meeting. Don't disturb him!"
