Chapter 1 of The Alpha Luther's Lost Mate

She was roused from her slumber by the shrill ringing of the alarm clock, and the woman, who appeared to be in poor health, stood up and stared blankly at it. It was as if she was being forced to exist at this point. Her face was covered in bruises, and it was clear that they had only recently occurred.

She muttered to herself, "Same shit, different day," as she got out of her bed, which appeared pitiful and meager. She moved towards the sink in her room, which was propped up in a careless manner while demonstrating a slight limp. She knelt down and peered at the cracked and smudged mirror as she examined it while bending over the table.

Her left eye was blackened from bruising, her lower lip was cut, and there was a slight swelling that ran across her neck as if something had been clamped on it and tightened significantly.

Some people would probably be horrified or even shocked by this young woman's situation and would try to lend her a hand, but for her, this is just another everyday occurrence in her life.

Samantha Wright, an omega in the Mountain Peak Pack, is nothing more than a slave and a punching bag for the rest of the wolves in the pack. She is considered to be nothing more than a nuisance.

She grabbed a handful of water and pressed it against her face in the hopes of removing the dirt and dust that had accumulated on her face while she slept. The room was so small that the sound of running water filled the entire space.

It was Ariel, her spirit wolf, who spoke to her in that voice that came from inside her head and said, "Well, you look like shit." As she worried about Samantha, her voice carried undercurrents of concern as well as a touch of irony. "A human body can only take so much abuse before it completely breaks over, you know."

Samantha smirked as she splashed another handful of water on her face.

"And what do you think we should do, Ariel?" she asked aloud. "Since a human body can only take so much abuse before it completely breaks over."

The wolf declared, "For starters, you could let me take over," adding, "With my reflexes, we can turn the tides and run away from these shitheads."

When Ariel spoke, Samantha's eyes rolled, and she experienced fear and uncertainty. "You do realize that they outnumber us, right?" When compared to their ranks, we come across as feeble and pitiful.

Ariel's response, which she delivered in an authoritative tone, was, "It's all about the footwork; our small body can outrun the big, bumbling dumbasses."

But Samantha was aware that this wasn't the case. She came to the realization that her spirit wolf was merely trying to comfort her while she was in the depths of her despair. Providing her with hope in circumstances where there is none. Ariel's cutting sarcasm and aggressive demeanor masked a caring spirit that lay just beneath the surface.

Ariel had attempted to take control of Samantha on multiple occasions while she was going through "the usual" things that the Mountain Peak Pack allows her to. On each occasion, she came very close to succeeding, but Samantha's willpower was stronger, and she was able to stop Ariel from transforming into her true form.

When Samantha's parents were killed in an attack by rogue wolves seven years ago, she was put through this ordeal to deal with the aftermath of the tragedy. As the lone survivor, she was quickly taken in by the Alpha of this current pack, where she was labeled an Omega, and it was at that point that the beginning of her life of insanity and suffering began.

It was a grand mansion with a winding staircase that led down to the first floor, and Samantha stepped out of her room, which was located directly across from Alpha and Luna's master bedroom.

The only sound that could be heard was that of a pin being dropped from this vantage point onward, suggesting that the members of the pack had moved on to another location. She descended the stairs cautiously while keeping an eye out for anyone or anything that might have seen her.

As soon as she set foot on the ground level, a deep and resonant voice reverberated throughout the entire hole.

"I know you're there because I can fucking smell you from this distance. I don't care how far we are apart. "Get the fuck over here," the voice of the Alpha commanded, so early in the day that he was already irritated as per the norm.

Samantha felt a chill run through her body as Ariel made another attempt to take control of her, but she fought it off as she always did. She shook as she made her way toward the location of the Alpha, which was in the kitchen; as soon as she arrived there, she felt the weight of the Alpha's gaze pressing down on her. It appeared as though he was watching her intently through those dark eyes of his. I am keeping an eye on her while I wait for her to take action.

"And what exactly did you tell me?" He yelled at her, and even as he said those words, the Alpha's face was already creased in displeasure.

Samantha mumbled something, but the Alpha was unable to understand what she said, so he moved closer to her and smacked her across the face as soon as he got there. Instantaneously, she collapsed to the ground, clinging to her cheek as it began to burn.

"What did I tell you?" The Alpha harped on, becoming increasingly irritated, "I told you to prepare breakfast at seven in the morning, and here we are already a quarter past."

"I'm sorry. Mr. Ariel was howling in anger because she had been slapped so early in the morning, and Samantha immediately apologized while fighting the torrents of emotion that were going through her. "It won't happen again," she promised.

"Promises!" the Alpha growled as he grabbed a handful of Samantha's hair and yanked her to her feet. He warned her, "Get shit done, or get your shit kicked in," as he moved his face inches closer to hers. "Get shit done, or get your shit kicked in."

Samantha mumbled, "I understand, Alpha Yosef," while making a valiant effort to control her emotions and keep from bursting into tears.

Yosef responded with a simple "Good" before tossing her to the side of the room and breathing heavily at her. "Make sure that you don't make breakfast for yourself, and instead focus on preparing breakfast for the rest of the pack. Samantha nodded as she picked herself up off the floor and moved toward the stoves. "It is your punishment for being late." As Yosef drove away, she was finally able to blink a tear away from her eyes. She asked herself, "Whatever did I do to deserve this?" as she prepared bacon, waffles, and eggs for a group of more than thirty werewolves. "Whatever did I do to deserve this?"

She worked on it for close to an hour, but in the end, she was successful. She placed all of them on a tray that was elevated on a pushcart she was using. She pushed the breakfast that she had labored over for a long time toward the grand dining room where the rest of the group was waiting.

As Samantha brought the men their food, it was quite a rowdy scene: the men were arguing with one another, laughing, and joking around as she did so. She managed to steal a piece of bacon for herself in the process. She was giving the mongrels their food when one of them accidentally tripped her, causing her to land on her face first on the marble floor.

Yosef and his companion Luna, who had been sequestered away from the rest of the group on a raised platform, directed their irritated gaze in her direction.

The others merely laughed at her, and while she was on the ground, some of them even kicked her. It was nothing unusual for an omega like her to be treated in such a manner within a pack, so Yosef and his Luna didn't seem to care. In the eyes of other people, they were lower than humans.

She had made it all the way to Alpha and Luna's table, where they were both staring intently in her direction. Samantha placed the breakfast of bacon, eggs, and waffles in front of them, and Luna, who was also a stunning woman in her own right, simply smiled at her.

Samantha's stomach began to rumble as soon as she inhaled the aroma, but she was smart enough to refrain from producing the piece of bacon that she had secretly taken earlier.

"Well, what exactly are you looking forward to? A tip?" Luna said sarcastically as Samantha loomed in front of them, already finished giving them their food. The instant she realized what was happening, Samantha bowed her head and moved away from the table, stopping to observe the meal from a distance. She fought against the constant grumbling in her stomach, and she remembered how her parents would always make her a sandwich. It was peanut butter flavored with raspberry, and she liked eating it when she was a kid. To her, it was on par with the nectar of the gods. However, that was back then.

This is the present.

They finished immediately, Samantha moved to fix their dishes, but Luna motioned for her to come closer, Samantha complied at once, and Luna was just staring at her with a smile.

"You know your chores, right?" she said sardonically, and Samantha just nodded. "Then what exactly are you holding out for? Off you go," she made a shooing mention, which made Yosef chuckle.

It was a long list of chores, Samantha had known this by heart now, but it was still tiring to do it. She moved out of the grand dining room with the used dishes in tow, and as she reached the kitchens, she took out the piece of bacon she had taken and ate it quickly. It was delicious but not enough to satiate her appetite. With a heavy sigh, she started to do her chores.

It was late in the afternoon, Six o'clock before she finished. The last chore was to clean the silver figurines owned by the Luna. She put on heavy-duty gloves and started to clean them. As she did so, Luna immediately arrived, angry at what Samantha was doing.

"You fucking ruined them!" she said in a monstrous growl that did not match her beautiful features at all. She pounced at Samantha immediately and grabbed her by the hair. Two swift slaps cracked across the Omega's face, followed by a rough kick that sent her tumbling onto the floor. It was there that Samantha passed out.

---

She woke up to the sensation of freezing water being thrown at her. As she shivered, the Luna spoke to her in a calm voice, as if she had not lashed out and harmed her earlier: "We have visitors tonight, Samantha. Make sure to bring out the best dishware we have, and they are elders, and if you pick the wrong ones, I'll have your hide."

Samantha nodded wordlessly and bowed deeply as Luna walked away from her. If the visitors were elders, that would mean mistakes would not be tolerated. Samantha rushed towards the kitchen immediately and started to prepare the tableware to be used by the guests. Afterward, she started to work on the steaks that were requested.

She was still cooking when Alpha Yosef came over to her. He was scowling as usual, but he spoke in a gentler voice now: "They are almost here. Make sure you finish that up and get changed into proper clothing. If you do well tonight, I shall consider allowing you to get dinner."

The Alpha walked off again, and Samantha could not help but smile because she was finally given the prospect of having a full meal for once.

---

Half an hour later, she found herself bowing in two guests, Elder Leonard and his Luna, Cynthia. They were ancient looking, wrinkled and leathery, but surprisingly spry for their looks. As she brought them to the grand dining room, which was emptied out except for two people, Samantha announced: "Elder Leonard and Cynthia have arrived, Alpha Yosef and Luna Isabelle."

She led them to their chairs as the elderly smiled at her. Samantha could not help but smile back. She moved towards the kitchens now, wanting to serve them the food that was waiting for them.

As she pushed the kitchen cart towards the Dining room, she heard muffled voices as the door had not been closed properly.

"Yes, that's her," Alpha Yosef said. He was speaking to someone, "She is almost useless, but yes, she is the one from the prophecy."

'Prophecy?' Samantha mouthed, eavesdropping through the door. As she pondered those words, she heard padding footsteps approach her, and the door was yanked open. It was Yosef, and disappointment was pasted all over his face.

"It seems that we have an unwanted listener," Yosef announced, "Elders, we'll have to discuss THAT subject on another day." He snapped his fingers, and at once, a member of the pack arrived. Yosef motioned for him to push the cart toward their guests while he dealt with this pest.

As the doors slammed shut on the dining hall room, Yosef smirked as he yanked Samantha by the hair towards the ground floor. "No, not the basement for you. Not yet anyway," he said darkly, "Eavesdropping, huh?"

Samantha repeatedly apologized, crying and saying that she did not mean to do what she did.

"What did you hear?" Yosef whispered as he dragged her through the halls and down the stairs. Samantha shook her head. The Alpha smirked, "Well, if you won't speak, then maybe this will break you."

He opened the door, and they both saw that most of the pack was there. They all stared at the two newcomers with wonder in their eyes.

"One more time, Samantha. What did you hear?"

"Nothing, Alpha. I swear I heard nothing."

"Very well." Yosef said promptly and tossed her inside the room. "Boys, strip her and have your way with her. Do not hold back."

Samantha shivered and shuddered as the rest of the pack started to close in on her.
