Caspian looked at the phone screen and felt that something seemed wrong.
Ten minutes had already gone by after he sent the message, but Dahlia still had not replied.
Before this, whenever he sent her a message, she always answered right away.
Even when he accidentally touched his phone and only sent a single period, she still replied at once and asked him caring questions.
Sometimes, when she felt happy and her illness was not acting up too often, she even sent him cute stickers.
Caspian suddenly remembered the moment two days earlier, the last time he saw Dahlia in the hospital.
That day, her face showed many emotions he could not understand, much more than he had seen from her during all these years.
Ever since he caused her depression, her face had mostly looked sad and lost.
There were barely any other expressions.
But two days earlier, her expressions had been full of emotion, nothing like a person with severe depression.
Everything about this felt wrong.
The assistant reached over and carried Caspian’s luggage. “President Holmes, are we heading back to the company?”
When he saw Caspian staying silent, the assistant was about to speak again when the phone suddenly vibrated.
He looked at the screen, his face turning troubled. “President Holmes, are you going to see Miss Silva? During these two days, because you were away on a business trip, she seems unwilling to believe it and keeps calling to ask where you are.”
During the two days overseas for work, Caspian spent over twelve hours working each day.
To him, this was not considered tiring, only average work pressure.
He simply went from meeting to meeting, spending the breaks drinking coffee or quickly finishing a meal.
He did not have spare time for personal matters and had not even gotten the chance to read all his messages.
Because she could not get a reply from him, Camilla could only keep contacting his assistant.
Caspian held out his hand. “Pass me the phone.”
He took the phone, answered the call, and spoke deeply. “Camilla, it’s me.”
After hearing Caspian’s voice, Camilla finally breathed in relief. “Uncle, you finally replied to me.”
Her voice sounded wronged, as if tears were about to fall. “I spent two days looking for you. You never replied to my messages. I was so worried about you. Uncle, where did you go?”
When he thought about her crying face, Caspian felt bad for her.
His tone stayed soft. “These past two days on the business trip, I was always stuck in meetings and too busy. I accidentally neglected you. I apologize.”
At the other end of the phone, Camilla slightly raised her lips into a smile.
Just as she expected, Caspian was always helpless against her weak and pitiful appearance.
Whenever she acted like this, Caspian completely gave in and agreed to all her requests.
She sobbed lightly twice. “Th-then I’ll give you one final chance… I want to eat the cassava cake from that store in Garden City.”
“Okay. I’ll go buy them right now.”
The airport was located on the east side of the city, and driving to the west side took two hours.
That cassava cake shop also needed a two-hour wait in line.
After ending the call, Caspian looked at the gift bag in his hand and paused for a moment.
In the end, he still put the gift bag away.
Giving the gift to Dahlia later would not make any difference anyway.
But the cassava cake shop on the west side of the city closed at seven in the evening. If he failed to buy them by then, he would have no way to explain things to Camilla.
Caspian lifted his eyes toward the assistant. “Let’s go. Head to the cassava cake shop in Garden City right now.”
