Revenge is Sweet: I’m Here to Steal It Back!

It didn’t take long for Drake to make his move. The very next week, he and Melanie—who, by the way, was acting like she owned the damn world now—came together to forge an alliance that sent shockwaves through my pack. I could practically feel the air thick with tension every time I walked into the office.

They started spreading rumors, undermining my authority at every turn. People were talking, whispering about how I couldn’t handle both the empire and the pack.

Maybe they were right. Maybe I was too distracted by my ambition to keep everything in check. But that didn’t mean I was going to let Drake and Melanie ruin everything I’d worked for.

“Cassandra, you can’t let them get away with this,” Rafael said, his voice steady as usual. He was my childhood friend, my trusted advisor, and the only person who hadn’t turned his back on me after everything went down with Drake. “You’ve got this. You’ve always had it. Don’t let them make you doubt yourself.”

But even Rafael’s calm words couldn’t ease the gnawing doubt in my chest. Every rumor, every whispered conversation, felt like a personal attack.

Every time I walked into a meeting, I could feel the weight of their expectations, the judging eyes of the investors, the uncertainty in their minds about whether I could still lead.

That morning, the situation got worse. I sat in a meeting with a few of my top investors, trying to ease their concerns about my business. And then the bomb dropped. Drake and Melanie were poaching key members of my team.

“Your team is losing its best players, Cassandra,” one of the investors said, his voice tight with barely concealed frustration. “If you can’t keep your people, how can we trust that your empire will stand?”

I fought to keep my composure.

My empire. My pack. I had built everything from the ground up, and now it was slipping from my hands. I knew something wasn’t right. Melanie had been in the background of everything—driving wedges, making deals in the shadows.

And it didn’t take long for me to realize it wasn’t just a matter of poaching employees. One of my executives—someone I had trusted—had been leaking our confidential business strategies straight to Drake’s pack. I found out when one of my analysts showed me a report on some of our competitors’ moves that mirrored exactly what I’d been planning for the next quarter.

I felt my blood run cold. Melanie’s fingerprints were all over this. She was pulling the strings from behind the scenes, and if I didn’t act fast, I was going to lose everything!

So, I did what I knew best: I confronted it head-on.

It was a high-profile gala, one of those events where all the big players in the business world gathered to talk deals and shake hands. Normally, I’d have been in my element, owning the room.

But tonight? Tonight was different. Tonight, Drake and Melanie had a plan.

I spotted them across the room, the perfect picture of unity, smiles plastered on their faces like they were in control of everything. Drake locked eyes with me from across the room, and I could almost see the smugness radiating off of him. Melanie was beside him, of course, her presence like an insidious cloud, hovering at his side.

I didn’t wait.

I crossed the room, my heels clicking loudly on the marble floor, drawing attention as I approached them. The air felt thick between us as I stopped in front of them, standing tall.

Drake smirked at me. There's a dangerous gleam in his eyes. “You’re really still trying to fight this, huh?” his tone was cold. “Let me make it clear, Cassandra. You’re going to lose everything. Your pack. Your empire. Your reputation. If you don’t step down, it’s all over.”

I didn’t flinch, though inside, the words cut deeper than I wanted to admit. He was right about one thing—I had a lot to lose. But I wasn’t about to back down. Not now, not ever.

“I’m not going anywhere. You can take your alliance and shove it, Drake. I’ve built everything I have with my own hands. If you think you can break me, you’re mistaken.”

He raised an eyebrow, as if amused by my defiance. “We’ll see about that. You’re already losing. And soon, everyone will know it.”

Before I could respond, Melanie piped in, her voice dripping with false sweetness. “You should just let it go, Cassandra. Maybe it’s time to admit you’re not cut out for all of this. Drake and I can give the pack everything you can’t.”

My stomach churned, but I refused to give them the satisfaction of seeing it.

Later that night, after the gala had ended, Rafael met me at the office. We went over everything—my options, my next moves—and he didn’t sugarcoat it.

“You need to fight for your place, Cassandra. This is more than just your business. This is about your legacy. You can’t let Drake and Melanie tear it all apart! But we need a plan. You’re not going to take them down by playing defense. You need to go on the offensive.”

And that’s when it hit me. I’d been so focused on keeping everything together, so caught up in the emotional toll of betrayal, that I hadn’t stopped to think clearly about my next move. I couldn’t let them have the upper hand any longer. If I was going to reclaim control—both of my pack and my empire—I had to hit back.

With Rafael by my side, I started planning. There would be no more sitting back and letting things unfold. I wasn’t just going to keep my position as CEO—I was going to make sure Drake and Melanie understood exactly who they were messing with.

The war was only beginning. And I wasn’t backing down.
