Rejected by the Alpha: The White Wolf's Revenge

Geraldine POV:

The lobby of Garza Enterprises was a symphony of polished chrome and hushed whispers. The receptionist, a young Omega Darrien had hired a month ago, looked up as I entered. Her eyes widened in recognition, then narrowed with a practiced, dismissive air.

"Can I help you?" she asked, her tone implying I was something unpleasant she'd found on her shoe.

I didn't break my stride. I walked directly to her desk and placed a single, folded document on the pristine surface.

"This is a court-ordered asset preservation notice," I said, my voice echoing slightly in the cavernous space. "You will grant me and my associates unrestricted access. If you attempt to obstruct us, you will be held in contempt of court."

Her jaw dropped. Two security guards started to move toward me, but stopped when they saw the official seal on the paper. They exchanged a nervous glance. They were on the Garza payroll, but they weren't stupid enough to defy a federal judge.

I walked past them, my heels clicking a sharp, determined rhythm on the marble floor. Employees peered out of their cubicles, their faces a mixture of shock and morbid curiosity. I was supposed to be the ghost of this company, the silent partner, the forgotten wife. A ghost had just walked back through the front door armed with a court order.

I didn't stop until I reached the double doors of the CEO's office. My office, once. I pushed them open without knocking.

And there she was.

Kenzie Petty, lounging in the vice president's chair-my chair-as if she owned it. She was wearing a soft pink cashmere dress that clung to her swollen belly. In her hands, she held a set of blueprints. My blueprints. The initial schematics for the Phoenix Project, our company's most ambitious undertaking.

She looked up, and a triumphant, venomous smile spread across her face.

"Geraldine," she purred, her voice sickly sweet. "What a surprise. I was just admiring your work. It's quite good. A little uninspired, perhaps, but I'm sure I can fix it." She patted her stomach. "Now that I'm in charge of this project, I'll be adding my own... personal touch."

The rage that had been simmering inside me went from ice to fire. I walked to the desk, my movements dangerously calm.

I didn't say a word. I simply reached down, took the blueprints from her perfectly manicured hands, and ripped them in half. Then in half again. And again, until the pieces fluttered from my fingers like dead leaves.

She let out a theatrical gasp, scrambling to her feet. "You're insane! Those are the only copies!"

"The only copies here," I corrected her, my voice low and lethal. "The original patent, the core algorithm, the entire intellectual property, is, and always has been, held by a shell corporation. A corporation owned by my family. By Carroll Industries."

Just then, the doors burst open again. Darrien stormed in, his face pale and blotchy with fury. He must have gotten the call from security. He saw the shredded paper on the floor, Kenzie's feigned look of terror, and me standing there, unmoved.

"Get out," he snarled, pointing a trembling finger at the door. "You are not welcome here."

"On the contrary," I said, pulling another document from my portfolio. "This is a notice of capital withdrawal. As of this morning, Carroll Capital is pulling all funding from every active Garza project. Your credit lines will be frozen by noon."

The color drained from his face. He knew what that meant. Without our family's backing, the company's cash flow would stop. Instantly. They'd be bankrupt within a week.

"Geraldine, please," he said, his tone shifting abruptly. He tried to take my arm, to guide me into the private lounge. "Let's talk about this. We can work something out."

I pulled my arm away as if his touch were toxic.

"We have nothing to talk about," I said, raising my voice so the employees gathering outside the door could hear every word. "But I do have a question for you, Darrien. Why is this woman," I gestured to Kenzie, "a second-rate model with no business experience, being given access to sensitive, proprietary company data?"

Kenzie immediately clutched her stomach, letting out a soft moan. "The baby... I think I'm having cramps. You're upsetting me."

Darrien rushed to her side, wrapping a protective arm around her. "Look what you've done," he hissed at me. "You're a monster. You're cruel and heartless."

I laughed. A real, genuine laugh. It felt good.

"Am I?" I reached into my portfolio and pulled out a photograph. It was a candid shot, taken last week, of Kenzie having an intimate lunch with another Alpha. A very wealthy, very married Alpha from a rival pack. I tossed it onto the desk. "Is this why you needed fifty million dollars? To pay off her other benefactors?"

Kenzie's face went white as a sheet. "He's just an old friend!" she stammered.

Darrien looked at the photo, then at her, a flicker of doubt finally entering his eyes.

"My business here is concluded," I announced, turning to the open doorway. "I am officially resigning from all my positions at Garza Enterprises. Effective immediately."

As if on cue, a line of people began to walk into the office. First was my lead architect, then my head of engineering, followed by the entire senior project management team. One by one, more than a dozen of the company's most vital employees walked up to Darrien's desk and placed their resignation letters on the pile of shredded blueprints.

They were my people. I had hired them, trained them, and earned their loyalty. They didn't work for Garza Enterprises. They worked for me.

Darrien stared at the empty faces of his entire executive team, his mouth hanging open. He had been hollowed out. The company was nothing but a shell, and he hadn't even seen it coming.

I walked over to Kenzie, who was still pretending to be in pain. I leaned in close, my voice a whisper only she could hear.

"Stolen things have a way of getting lost," I said. "Enjoy the view from my chair. It won't be yours for long."

I turned and walked out, leaving a scene of total corporate carnage behind me. The sound of Darrien roaring my name was music to my ears.

Down in the lobby, as I waited for the elevator, I saw a nanny leading a small boy toward the entrance. Julian. He had wide, dark eyes. They were nothing like Darrien's piercing blue.

I watched them for a moment, a cold certainty settling in my gut. Then I turned away, stepping into the elevator without a backward glance.

My phone chimed. A message from Cedric York's assistant.

Change of plans. Mr. York requests the pleasure of your company at his private estate this evening. A car will be sent for you.

The game was just beginning.
