Reborn With My Husband

Perhaps once, I might have felt sympathy for every move this man made.

But he was right; the past is gone, so why dwell on it?

I finally have the happiness in love and family that I always dreamed of but never had before.

It seems clear that I'm much happier in this life.

Originally, Daniela organized this gathering, but once people learned about my identity, their attitudes changed.

Their flattery towards Daniela shifted to showering me with attention and concern, all within a matter of minutes.

"I never imagined Emeline married the richest man! Kody was just about to give her a check to brush her off. It's laughable now, isn't it?"

"Exactly, thinking an ex was doing poorly, only to find she turned around and found someone even better."

"Wasn't Daniela going to recommend a nail technician job to her? I just heard Emeline is a renowned high-end fashion designer. Why would she need someone to introduce her to a job? It's a joke!"

"Emeline, how could you not tell your old classmates about such a big event like your wedding? We could have at least celebrated with you properly!"

I watched as my old classmates, who initially ignored me, began to act familiar, and I couldn't help but find it amusing.

Still, I maintained a polite facade, keeping things cordial.

Even before the reunion ended, I had lost interest and soon left with my husband, Domenic, holding our son.

Just as we stepped out of the Chenghua Hotel, I heard, "Emeline!"

It was Kody rushing out after me, calling my name with urgency.

I asked Domenic to take our son to the car to wait.

After all, it was a chilly November evening.

Domenic, as always, respected and trusted me, nodding silently.

Kody looked at me with a mix of confusion and complexity.

"How did you end up marrying Domenic?"

There was nothing to hide.

Domenic's company was the first to offer me a job when I returned home, with a salary five times the market rate.

It was the most sincere offer I'd received.

Because of work, we often communicated and got to know each other.

He admired my dedication to each design and my high standards in professionalism and academia.

So, Domenic pursued me with unwavering determination.

I noticed his kindness and respect, and I had a good impression of him.

The day Domenic formally confessed, I maintained a calm demeanor as I continued asking him a few questions.

"Do you want children?"

"Yes, I want children. I could say something nice like respecting your wishes, but I want to be honest. My dream is a happy family with a child."

I continued, "Would you stop me from working or even going abroad?"

He shook his head sincerely, "No. Everyone's true potential isn't just in the family; it's also in society and within oneself. I'm willing to support whatever you want to do."

"Last question, would you regret it?"

He smiled, "I, Domenic, never regret."

From that day, I agreed to give us a chance, a new beginning.

We naturally fell in love and married.

The wedding was low-key, just signing the papers and inviting close friends and family.

Listening to my story, Kody's eyes unknowingly turned red.

"Is that little girl really your child?"

"But you once said you only wanted to have children with me. How can you have a child with another man now?"

I was at a loss for words by his statement and could only remind him with his own words.

"Kody, the past is gone. Isn't it enough to let go of the past?"

"When we mutually ended things, it was the best arrangement for both our past and present lives, wasn't it?"

"Besides, in our past life, you regretted being with me and didn't want children with me. I couldn't accept such a life."

Kody shouted angrily, "I regretted it because you never supported me! You blocked all my interview strategies and analyses!"

Hearing this, I was utterly confused.

"What are you talking about? I don't understand at all!"

"I never saw your work. Back then, I worked three jobs a day for your dreams and had no time for such trivial matters. I wanted your success more than anyone. Didn't you feel that in our past life?"

His words struck like a sudden, shocking revelation, leaving Kody stunned as if he had received a massive blow.

He covered his mouth in shock, struggling to accept the reality, and continued to question me.

"Then why didn't you agree when I asked you to buy stocks back then?"

I started to understand what Kody meant by saying I didn't understand him back then.

"Did you think we had money? When your father fell ill, we used almost all our savings for the hospital. What else did we have besides grocery money? Rob a bank?"

Kody was utterly devastated, muttering, "Impossible.

Daniela told me you sent emails to those companies, preventing my success because you feared I'd abandon you after succeeding... "

If past life's matters left me disappointed and pained, at this moment, I felt complete despair over my past life's feelings.

"We were together for so many years, yet a careless remark from someone else could dismiss all my years of effort. Don't you find that ridiculous?"

I sighed, "My husband and son are waiting for me. I should go."

Kody anxiously asked behind me, "Emeline, do you still love me?"

I shook my head firmly.

"The love from our past life has long been let go. I now love my husband and son more."

I didn't understand why he would ask such a question.

After all, he always said there was no need to dwell on past people and things, and I have truly moved on.
