Chapter 1 of Our Love and Hate were Boundless, and Now Happiness Await

I was one of George Swallowell's twelve concubines. Rosalie, the elder of the Swallowell, once said, “Whoever gets pregnant first will be the future mistress of the house.

In my previous life, I was the first to get pregnant. But his favorite, the twelfth concubine, Priscilla Caradoc, slit her wrists and died.

On the day I gave birth, he dragged me from the delivery room to Priscilla's grave. He pressed my head and made me prostrate myself in front of the grave a hundred times.

“If you hadn't secretly hyped up the birth control pills, how could you get pregnant? Priscilla is already preparing for pregnancy and we will have a child soon. She is the one who should be my wife!”

“It's not enough that you took Priscilla's position, but you also forced her to commit suicide. I want you to join her in death!”

He dug out the ashes of my entire family and fed them to the wild dogs on the mountain in front of Priscilla’s last photo to take out his anger for her.

George knew that I had a poor blood clotting disorder, he cut dozens of knives on my body and watched me bleed to death with my eyes wide open.

In this life, I secretly switched the urine cup for the pregnancy test with Priscilla. I’m really sorry, I won’t accompany you in their love game any longer.

——

“Rosalie, Mrs. Priscilla has been pregnant for a month.”

During the monthly routine pregnancy check-up at the Swallowell Family's old mansion, the private doctor announced the results. The ten concubines that George left behind held their respective pregnancy test slips, their expressions either disappointed or jealous.

“What the hell? Is the concubine number twelve actually pregnant? Is it real?”

“Just because she was the woman Mr. George loved the most. Indeed, they had dated before. We are just deliberately irritating her, because Mr. George was angry with Priscilla for leaving him to go abroad in the first place and is intentionally angry at her.”

“But for so many years, Mr. George, in addition to Priscilla, has not touched anyone else at all. So, who will be pregnant if she is not pregnant?”

“But I heard that last month, Mr. George slept in Caroline Drexel's room for one night, didn't he? Caroline, at least she was a young lady in the past. She was a socialite and the two families are close friends. The old lady has always wanted her to be her granddaughter-in-law.”

“Tsk, so what if she's a rich girl? Socialite or not, she’s just a slave for him. Mr. George can't even look at her, but to cope with the old lady, Mr. George must not have even touched her.”

George heard the result and joyfully swept Priscilla into his arms. He said to Rosalie, “Grandma, Priscilla is already pregnant. She is my future wife, please don't go back on your word. I'm going to organise the grandest wedding for Priscilla.”

Priscilla was pleasantly surprised as she touched her baby's belly and nestled shyly in his arms. And the tenderness in George's eyes almost overflowed, like he could no longer see anyone else but only Priscilla.

Everyone sneered at me. After all, I had loved George for ten years, so much so that as long as I could stay by his side. I didn't hesitate to put down my identity and dignity, willing to become one of his many concubines, to be a tool for him and Priscilla to gamble with and to be reduced to a joke in the whole of Copenhagen City.

Rosalie was stunned and looked at me with a few moments of guilt in her eyes.

She then frowned and said, “This is impossible. There must be a mistake in the test report.”

I understood her reaction. She’d been my grandmother’s best friend. After my parents died in a plane crash, my grandmother fell ill. Before she died, all the money she had was transferred to my account, along with the transfer of company shares. She also asked Rosalie to look after me.

She knew about my feelings for George and always wanted to fulfil my wish. She even went so far as to drug her own grandson last month, sending him into my room and locking the door.

But even with skin-to-skin contact, George was still unwilling to marry me. I still remember the disgust in his eyes when he threw the birth control pill into my face.

“Caroline, in order to force me to marry you, you're even capable of doing things like drugging me, you drugged me just to force me to marry you? Did you enjoy it?  You really make me sick.”
