The earrings slipped out of my ears between the struggles.
Samantha exclaimed.
"Look at her earrings! They're only one pair in the world and worth millions of dollars."
Some people questioned.
"It must be fake, how can a scraps picker like her afford to buy a pair of earring worth millions of dollars?"
Some people denied.
"I think it's the real one. Look at the sparkle! No way it's fake."
The waiter looked at the earrings carefully and said loudly, "She's a thief!"
"Just now I heard a lady say her emerald earrings were missing, the ones she was wearing."
Samantha covered the smile on her face with his hands, pretending to be heartbroken.
"Lorelei, if you have any difficulties, you can tell us. We won't hesitate to help you. Why do you have to be a thief?"
The people around were pointing to me and accusing me.
"I thought she's born rich that she doesn't lack money, but in fact, she's a thief."
"Stealing can be considered as earning a living!"
The longer I listened to their ridicule, the more my anger surged up.
"I didn't steal anything from anyone. I got them as a gift from my husband."
Samantha lifted his chin and looked at me contemptuously.
"Then do you have any evidence to prove that your husband gave it to you?"
I took out my phone to show them the photo of our family of three, but she suddenly reached out and snatched my phone away.
She looked at it carefully and held it up to show everyone.
"Wait, this is a high-end limited edition phone!"
She looked at me.
"Even I don't have it, where did you get it? I think you stole it too."
I was stunned on the spot. I didn't expect someone to be so shameless.
My tone was also a little flustered. "I didn't steal it, I bought it!"
"Bought it?"
She seemed to have heard a huge joke and laughed back and forth.
"Even if you have money, you may not be able to buy this. Look at what you are wearing, do you think you can afford it?"
A rich lady in the crowd, who was covered in jewels, chimed in.
"I believe she didn't buy it. If she could afford to buy a high-end limited edition phone, how could she wear dirty and shabby clothes to a party?
"I heard Mr. Guerreiro once bought the only pair of emerald earrings in the world and gave them to his wife. Maybe she stole these things from Ms. Guerreiro."
She rushed over and grabbed my wrist.
"Tell me, are you coming here today to find another opportunity to steal something?"
Soon, everyone lowered their heads to check if they had lost anything.
I struggled to break free from her hand and replied, "I'm not a thief, I'm the hostess of today's party!"
Samantha chuckled, putting on a magnanimous face.
"Everyone is here, witnessing, she might have mental illness."
"For Harry's sake, please don't call the police and let her returned the earrings to its real owner."
The people around her praised her kindness.
The waiter rushed up and forcefully pulled off the earrings and drops of blood dripped down my earlobes onto the floor.
I covered my ears and cried out in pain, unconsciously taking two steps back.
The waiter held my shoulders and tried to pull off the other earring.
I struggled, shouting in fear.
"Don't touch me! Call the police, everyone help me call the police!"
Unfortunately, the guests around was just watching the fun.
But then, at the critical moment, Harry spoke up to stop it.
"Let her go!"
He pulled off the waiter's hand off and let out a deep sigh.
"Why do you have to act tough in front of me? And become a thief yourself?"
He gently took off my other earring and put it in the waiter's hand. "Return the earrings to its original owner! I'll have someone take you home. Wait for me at home. I'll find you later."
I distanced myself from him, my voice trembling.
"I'm not a thief, I need to call the police."
He frowned and stared at me with a displeased.
"Getting my points? It's your fault in the first place, what are you trying to do?"
He said as he pulled me out.
I struggled desperately. "Let me go!"
Harry, however, turned a deaf ear and dragged me out with a dark face.
Just then, a boy in a tuxedo ran over from a distance, with four or five tall and burly bodyguards followed him.
He instantly attracted everyone's attention.
Samantha approached with a bright smile on her face and opened her hands.
"So, this is the little birthday star of today, so handsome and cute, come and let me hug you."
The boy ran straight past her and grabbed Harry's trouser leg, shouting. "Bad guy, let go of my mom!"
