Later, James called and asked why I had left early without waiting for him.
I did not reply.
Not until the wedding day.
My phone rang from morning onward. I ignored it.
When I reached the airport, I looked at the screen one last time.
Ten missed calls from James. Countless messages.
[Leticia, why are you not at the villa?]
[Why are you not answering my calls?]
[Where are you?]
[I was not angry about that night, so do not be angry either.]

I checked my watch.
It was exactly ten.
I blocked James's number, removed the SIM card from my phone, dropped it into the trash, and boarded the plane.
