New Year Gamble; I Humiliated My Boastful Uncle

That was what I was waiting for him to say.

So, I said, “Let's play dice. Whoever has the bigger dice wins. It's fast and exciting.”

Barton immediately raised a smug smile and asnwered, “Okay, this is your own choice, don't regret it!”

The other relatives all looked at me in surprise.

Because they all knew that Barton had either been gambling with others or playing at Grand Casino over the years and he had long since mastered the skill of rolling the dice to perfection and even the battle-hardened Miss Grand Casino could not beat him.

If I rolled the dice with him, would it not mean walking into the tiger's mouth?

Of course, I also knew that Barton was best at rolling dice.

But I still asked for two sets of dice cups and put five dice in them according to the way Barton played most often.

However, just as I was about to start, Barton stopped me again.

I frowned slightly, “What's wrong?”

“Where's your money? Mine is all on the table,” Barton said with a wry smile.

I said I did not withdraw any cash and it was all in my bank account. Then, I took out my phone and showed it to him.

Nowadays, who would take out thousands of cash at once, except for people like Barton who deliberately show off in front of others?

“Five thousand, right? Not bad. For young people, this is a high year-end bonus. It's enough for my pocket money for half a month.”

When Barton saw the numbers in the bank account, he smiled with satisfaction, with obvious disdain flashing in his eyes.

I sneered and said nothing, knowing that he would not miss any opportunity to show off.

“Shake it off, drive!”

Soon, Barton picked up the dice cup and started shaking it vigorously. After shaking it for a full half minute, he slammed it on the table.

I shook it casually twice and put the dice cup away.

The eyes of the surrounding relatives were all fixed on the dice cups in our hands.

Barton confidently opened his dice cup, three sixes and three fives.

I also opened my dice cup at the same time.

One, two, three, four, five.

I lost.

“Haha, young people don't know their limits,” Barton laughed triumphantly.

I did not say anything and silently transferred a thousand dollars to Barton.

In a blink of an eye, I lost a thousand dollars, making my father disappointed.

After hesitating for a while, he looked at Barton with pleading eyes. “Barton, the kid is just talking casually, let's forget about this game.”

Barton was unhappy and rolled his eyes and said, “Hey, do you think my nephew is the same as you, a farmer? After all, my nephew has worked in the city and has seen the world. What's 1,000 dollars? There are still 4,000 dollars left in his bank, right?”

Barton had always treated my dad like this. He completely lacked the basic respect that a younger brother should have for his older brother. He called him a farmer all the time and never even called him brother.

He completely forgot that if my father had not given him the opportunity to study, he would not be where he was that day.

“Dad, don't worry. I can afford to lose 5,000 dollars. At worst, I can earn it again next year.”

I gave my dad a comforting look.

“Fine."

My father knew my stubborn temper and he did not want to embarrass me in front of all the relatives, so he could only sigh.

“Continue!”

I picked up the dice cup and played a second round with my uncle.

In the end, I still lost.

Even on the third, fourth and fifth games, all the results were the same.

Soon, I lost all the 5,000 dollars in my bank account.

“Haha, Erwin, you are so filial. Consider these 5,000 dollars as your filial piety. I will take you to the Grand Casino later to broaden your horizons.”
