After I was transported into the otome game, I found myself playing the role of the young, beautiful stepmother to all the male leads, with the same appearance as before.
When they all gathered together, I completely lost it.
"Mom, mom, mom..."
"Hold me, hold me, hold me..."
Help, I only have two hands! How am I supposed to hold six kids?
...
The joke's on me, though. Everyone else who gets pulled into an otome game usually ends up as the heroine.
But me? Seraphina Vale? I woke up as the young stepmother of six male leads.
Oh, and by the way, I just married a bunch of dead husbands.
So, in the context of the game, I’ve had six husbands in one year.
Haha, six husbands in one year? I’m on fire!
The problem is, after becoming the stepmother to these guys, some strange, maternal instinct sparked inside me.
I just couldn’t bring myself to cross that moral line and try to romance them. So, I decided to settle in and start living a more… domestic life with the "kids."
The first male lead is named Caspian Thornfield. He’s the stereotypical CEO type.
With god-like looks and a fortune so massive it could buy entire countries.
Oh, and he’s even five years older than me.
He’s the son of my first husband, and out of the six, he’s the one who’s closest to my heart.
For some reason, my maternal instinct kicks in every time I see him. It feels like he’s my son, like he came straight out of my womb.
He has the typical CEO problem—stomach issues. So, I make it a point to get up early and tell the servants to make soup for him.
"Good boy, you have to eat breakfast. Otherwise, you’ll get a stomach problem. Oh wait, you already have one. You really need to eat!"
Caspian pinched the bridge of his nose and looked at me with a headache.
"Seraphina, I’m older than you."
I turned to look at him. Oh my God, with the adorable aura Caspian gives off, he almost makes me want to hug him right then and there.
So what if he’s older? If he’s cute, he’s cute.
"Fine, fine. You're older, I get it. I won’t meddle in your other matters, but you have to drink this big bowl of nourishing soup in the morning."
Caspian’s eyes bored into me, like he was trying to stare a flower into existence on my face.
Eventually, he drank the soup, his voice slightly hoarse.
"It’s good."
I patted the back of my head. "You’re telling me soup can make your throat go hoarse? Wasn’t it too hot?"
Caspian’s fingers lightly tapped on the table, and his gaze suddenly shifted to my mouth.
Out of nowhere, he said something unexpected.
"My dad is dead. From now on, this house belongs to me. Everything here should be mine."
I stared at him, speechless.
"Fine, fine, take it all. I’m rich enough to survive, so I won’t starve."
Caspian frowned. "That’s not what I meant."
"Yeah, I understand."
With a bright smile, I ladled him a second bowl of soup. "Good boy, come on, have another bowl."
As for me, well, I’m a big, widowed woman with six cute kids now.
The game has them all living in the same city, so I spend a day at each of their houses, and on Sundays, I get to return to my little apartment for a break.
After seeing Caspian off, I headed to visit the second male lead, Lysander Hale, a day early.
He’s the same age as me and an incredibly skilled surgeon.
When I arrived at his place, I found him in the living room, meticulously maintaining a set of surgical knives.
Under the effect of his cute boy aura, his narrow eyes widened when he saw me, and he blinked at me in a way that almost melted my heart.
He looked surprised when he saw me. "Isn’t Seraphina supposed to come tomorrow?"
He put the surgical knives away and walked straight toward me.
I cradled my head in my hands. "My head hurts. I ran out of the medicine Mr. Hale gave me, so I came to get more."
Mr. Hale was Lysander’s father, a renowned traditional Chinese medicine doctor.
Lysander immediately went to get me some pills.
But—
"Just give me the medicine. I’ll take it myself."
"Take it with my hand. My body heat will dissolve the medicine."
Before I could protest, he had already pressed the pills into my mouth.
His long fingers brushed against my teeth, sending a tingling sensation through my body.
I gasped, covering my mouth. "Wait, wait, did you wash your hands?"
Lysander raised an eyebrow, looking completely unimpressed. "Of course."
