Having bought the supplies to welcome my future baby, I was now walking towards Dalbert, who was waiting for me on the other side of the road. The street was deserted late at night, so I stepped fearlessly across. I hold my big belly, which is currently eight months pregnant. I smiled and waved at Dalbert. Suddenly, however, a truck sped towards me, and I was hit by it.
I lay limp, feeling pain all over my body, especially my stomach. My vision began to blur when I saw Dalbert standing in front of me.
"Dalbert, help me!" I muttered, and suddenly everything went dark.
After that incident, my eyes opened slowly. The smell of drugs was so pungent. I stared at the window, which was currently glowing with sunlight.
Last night's accident was so scary, I thought my destiny would end. Suddenly remembering my pregnancy, I touched my stomach, which was no longer big.
"Where is my baby?" I muttered in surprise. My heart was beating fast, I was worried that something had happened to my pregnancy when I remembered that the car had hit my body so hard.
I didn't see Dalbert beside me either. I was about to get out of bed, but I froze for a moment when I felt that I couldn't move my legs.
I screamed frantically for a doctor until the doctor came.
"Doctor, what's wrong with my legs? Why can't I move them?" I asked worriedly.
"You have an injury to your spine that has caused paralysis in both legs," the doctor said, causing me to freeze.
I bowed my head, I was crying. However, I remembered something very important: my baby.
"Then where's my baby?" I said with a sharp intake of breath.
"You can rest easy, you chose a baby boy. Because of the accident last night, we had to perform surgery to speed up the birth," the doctor replied, leaving me speechless.
I was having a baby boy, whereas earlier when I checked my pregnancy at another hospital, I was going to give birth to a baby girl. However, I didn't care about that. The doctor's prediction could be wrong, and the most important thing now was that my baby was fine.
"Doctor, have you seen my husband?"
The doctor shook his head, and I asked the doctor to help me transfer to a wheelchair. After the doctor left, I also went to look for Dalbert's whereabouts using the wheelchair.
I stopped when I heard Dalbert's voice in a morgue.
"What is Dalbert in the morgue for?" I asked, confused.
I saw Dalbert talking to Mike, his secretary. He gave Mike a lot of money, which confused me again.
"Bury that baby away from this town. Then you go far away from this country, don't let anyone else know I told you to run over Daisy!" Dalbert said.
I froze, my heart aching as I swallowed the bitter truth. My mouth fell open knowing that my husband was the one who caused me harm.
I shed tears as I stared at my legs that I couldn't move.
"So what if Mrs. Daisy finds out that Mr. Dalbert did all this?" He asked Dalbert.
"She won't know that I did it, she's a stupid woman. And she won't know that her baby died in the accident and I swapped it for Gloria's," Dalbert replied.
I paused for a moment, I couldn't take it anymore. I cried, my heart breaking knowing that my baby had died. Dalbert had not only paralyzed my legs. He had also indirectly killed my baby.
"What then, Mr. Dalbert, if Mrs. Daisy finds out about your relationship with Mrs. Gloria?"
"You better shut up, Mike! I've given you a lot of money to keep your mouth shut. Besides, if Daisy finds out one day, I don't care. I just want to give my best to the woman I love. I love Gloria very much!" Dalbert replied.
My heart was slapped by his words. It turns out that all this time the husband I love has apparently had an affair with another woman and even had a child. He was even willing to kill his own biological child for the happiness of that woman.
