After the divorce, Kieran's troubles didn't stop there. He decided to take his mistress Aaliyah on a road trip, which ended disastrously in a car accident. Though they both survived, Kieran suffered severe injuries, leaving him paralyzed from the waist down.
We had once stored embryos from a failed IVF attempt, and now they were his only hope for continuing his family line. In desperation, Kieran tearfully pleaded with me, even getting down on his knees. I laid out my terms clearly: "One house, plus two hundred thousand dollars, and I'll remarry you and have a child."
Kieran almost agreed when Aaliyah interrupted, flaunting an ultrasound picture. "No chance, I'm already pregnant!" she declared.
Kieran's expression hardened immediately, and he told me to leave.
I kept the evidence of Aaliyah's infidelity a secret and informed the clinic, "Please proceed with the embryo destruction, as per protocol."

As soon as the phone connected, Madeleine heard her friend Winnie Cooper's voice, bubbling with excitement.
"Your ex, Kieran Johnston, got into an accident! Both of his legs are completely wrecked!"
"I can't stop laughing! We can't call him Kieran the creep anymore; he's Kieran the eunuch now!"
"Ha-ha-ha!"
Winnie's new nickname for him echoed in Madeleine's mind, sparking her curiosity. "What's going on? Tell me everything!"
Winnie shared the gossip she had heard. Kieran, her ex-husband, went on a road trip with his mistress Aaliyah last week. While driving, they were so caught up in kissing that they missed a red light, leading to a crash with a huge truck from the left.
Aaliyah was lucky, with only a minor injury to her forehead, but Kieran wasn't as fortunate. His lower body was shattered, including the most sensitive part of a man's anatomy.
Winnie couldn't stop herself from laughing, "I heard all the doctors at St. Francis Hospital are dealing with his broken legs."
St. Francis Hospital? What a coincidence, Madeleine thought; she was supposed to go there today to pick up some medication for her mother.
After a moment of thought, she decided to visit. After all, they had been married once; she should at least check on him.
After hanging up the phone, she asked around and finally found Kieran's hospital room.
There he lay, his hair unkempt for days and a stubbly chin making him look worn and scruffy. When she entered, Kieran looked at her in surprise. "What are you doing here?"
Madeleine glanced at his lower body, hidden under layers of blankets, trying to suppress a smile, "Heard about your... situation. Thought I'd come and see you."
His expression darkened immediately.
