My Ex-Husband Forced My Father to Death for His First Love, so I Made Him Pay

"Your father killed my beloved Helena and now you’re trying to kill Wanda and my child. Yoanne, why don’t you just die already?"

He kicked me hard.

Then, without another glance, he carried Wanda to the hospital, leaving me behind with my head bleeding.

Despair washed over me. Tears blurred my vision, my lips trembled and a broken laugh slipped out.

If Heinry were here, he would have mocked me for laughing uglier than crying.

I wiped the blood from my eyes with a tissue until I could finally see again.

Not long after, the doorbell rang. It was the family doctor. Carrying his medicine box, he helped me to the sofa and, without a word, began cleaning and bandaging my wound.

He examined my eyes carefully, asked if I felt pain anywhere else and only when he finished did he finally speak.

"Heinry called me today. He still cares about you, but Helena’s death broke him. He’s not the same man anymore. Please… try to understand."

"He didn’t mean it. One day, I believe he’ll come to his senses and treat you the way he used to."

I only nodded in silence, unwilling to argue.

After he left, I looked around at the empty house with heavy eyes. This had been my home for four years.

Yet the love I had clung to for four years now felt completely meaningless.

Just then, a text arrived from my mother.

[The divorce certificate is ready and Naomi’s transfer is complete. I’ll pick her up tomorrow.]

I went upstairs to my daughter’s room and quietly packed the few things I had left.

Then I sat on the bed in silence. In the closet hung only two dresses, one of them was my wedding dress from Heinry and the other was the dress I was meant to wear at tomorrow’s banquet.

But I knew now I would never wear either of them again.

Less than an hour later, the courier delivered my divorce certificate.

At the same moment, a message came from Heinry. His words carried warning instead of care.

[The family doctor told me your injury isn’t serious. I ordered takeout for you. Get and eat it. Wanda lost the baby. I’ll settle this with you after tomorrow’s celebration. Don’t embarrass me there.]

I sneered at the screen and ignored him.

Heinry stayed at the hospital with Wanda that night. I, on the other hand, sat alone in the living room, burning every photo of us, even the train tickets we had saved from our trips.

At last, I took out my wedding dress. I cut away the kite pattern that had once meant so much to me.

I folded it neatly on the sofa before placing the divorce certificate on top.

After that, I packed my suitcase, carefully placing inside it the half-page diary my father had left behind. Without a single glance back, I walked away from the house that had been mine for four years.

I had already saved the secret that could ruin Heinry’s reputation onto a USB drive. In just one hour, the world would no longer see him as the charming, wealthy, perfect CEO of the Lorrimer Group.

The moment I boarded the plane, I sent him one final message.

[It’s over between us, Heinry. From now on, we have nothing to do with each other. Goodbye.]
