Chapter 1 of Love like an abyss
Angela's P o v
Growing up I've always thought that I was an ugly one amongst my peers. At a very young age my friends started having boyfriends. Kayla even had two boyfriends in sophomore year and they didn't know.
But someone snitched at the end of the year and sadly she had to leave the both of them.
But before we resumed senior year she was already hooking up with a different guy.
I always wondered why I was so different. Not until Kian came along.
Most times, over the years I never really cared about getting a boyfriend because I was deeply in love with Kian.
Kian had been dating Chelsea, a very rude and pompous cheerleader since freshman year. They were the perfect couple. But I still loved him though.
They broke up at the end of sophomore year and when we resumed senior year, I got to know that Kian was in fact in love with me too.
It's like a dream come true right? Yes, we started dating. God I love him so much. What's even crazier was that he loved me more than I loved him.
Once we graduated, we practically had our future planned in front of us. I was seventeen and so young. We made all the plans and even went to the same university.
At some point, Chelsea came back because their parents wanted them to get married but Kian rejected her. For me.
After graduation it was finally time for us to get married. I was excited.
But everything soon turned into a dark cloud when as I stood at the altar with him, he suddenly turned around and gave my wedding ring to my cousin, Laurel instead.
And that night they eloped together. I was devastated. He found my cousin to be more worthy of his love than me?
I nearly ran mad that night as pain dealt with me in ways most imaginable. The one thing I had looked forward to all my life was shattered and the man I thought loved me as I loved him chose my cousin over me.
Brian Rocha, the company's new manager steps onto the aisle with a ring to my face as he says "Angela, I have always loved you since the day I set eyes on you. Please would you allow me to marry you?"
I felt ashamed all together . This was too humiliating. Brian was a good looking and sophisticated looking man but right now I am hurting. So I respectfully declined and left the altar, that day marking the worst day of my life.
But Brian never stopped. He kept chasing me and even showed up on my birthday bearing gifts. On my second birthday after meeting him, Brian came with Noah Michael, the seventy two years old president of the NASHVILLE COMPANIES (the biggest company belonging to my eloped boyfriend's family) to my birthday.
After this I became the talk and envy of every girl in town. Those who didn't know me were curious, wanting to see who I was to make Brian honor me like that
After four years of pursuing and courting me, I finally gave in and married him.
The day of our wedding was Thanksgiving so the party was hosted at Brian's family's house. I was casually walking past the kitchen when I overheard Brian and his friend having a conversation.
"Brian, I think it's totally reckless of you spending this amount of money into a loveless marriage, on a woman you don't and can never love. Need I remind you that you're only marrying her because she's the ex of the man who eloped with your woman? We all know you're using Angela as back up so the company doesn't know that you still have something to do with Laurel."
Brian chuckles a reply "I love Laurel and will do anything for her. If this makes her happy then I will support her completely. She only left me for Kian because I was nothing to her. She will return to me, I know this."
I can't believe this. I thought he was marrying me because he loved me. All this trouble just to get close to Laurel and feel happy though me?
"I'm trusting you with this. Don't let the company or Angela's family know okay?" Brian's confident voice warns courtly.
"Of course not." His friend replied arrogantly.
I turn around and head for the door, my heart heavy. I cannot believe this. Tomorrow is supposed to be our wedding.
I basically live here with Brian. I moved in with him last year. Where am I gonna go?
I don't know when I reached outside, the cold night air sending chills all over my body.
I felt utterly used and fooled. I don't even realize I started crying till my vision is blurry and I'm furiously wiping at my eyes.
I don't hear the door open, nor did I hear the footsteps until Brian's arms are fondling me from behind.
"Babe you're so cold, what are you doing out here? Come on, let's get you inside."
With his arms around me protectively, he led me back and helped me on the couch, pulling a duvet over my body. His friends bade us goodbye and left.
As I watched Brian, I felt a furious anger but I'm so overwhelmed to even say anything.
His friends had smiled at me as they walked out. They always do that. And I'd thought they were always just impressed by how good Brian treated me. But in reality, they were always laughing at me.
I've been made a fool of. Even up till my wedding.
.
All I ever did was love him with all my heart. I would always come running when he's sick and feel so bad for him, and take care of him. Because a part of me started opening up to him and loving him. But this is how he pays me?
That might have made up my mind to disappear forever.
After Kian left me at the altar the only reason why I'm still here is because the company's president had actually reached out to me personally before to join his company and render my talent in marketing.
I never had a reason to stay, now I have more to leave.
"Are you still cold?" His tender voice brings me back from my thoughts.
