Letting Go, Teacher's Regret

Professor Hawthorne's face was full of surprise, and a hint of ruthlessness flashed in the corner of his eyes.

Then he immediately put on a hurt expression: "Lucas, what happened? Why did you suddenly say that to me..."

"What did I do to upset you? Why are you being so cold and mean? If I did something wrong, tell me and I'll apologize."

As he spoke, he put his hands on his chest, looking like he was about to faint from anger.

I remained silent and just watched him perform coldly.

Clara heard the noise and walked in immediately.

She subconsciously protected Professor Hawthorne and stared at me warily: "Lucas Mitchell, what are you doing?"

"Don't be like this, Clara," Professor Hawthorne said quickly, his voice weak. "Lucas is going to the base soon. The conditions there are tough. I understand he's unhappy. Don't blame him."

Seeing him like this, Clara felt even more distressed.

She turned to look at me, her eyes sharp. "Lucas, it was your own choice to go to the base. No one forced you! Don't act like you're owed something."

"Victor is your master and has done you a great favor. If you dare to disrespect him again, get out!"

No matter what happens, she will always defend him.

Ultimately, I was just being too sentimental.

Looking at the challenge in Professor Hawthorne's eyes, I suddenly felt very bored.

I pushed Clara away and silently cleaned up the mess on the floor.

Clara stood there with a frown on her face, her eyes fixed on me, not moving away at all.

At night, someone knocked on my door.

When I opened the door, I saw several plates of exquisite snacks on the ground.

You can tell at first glance that it was made by Clara herself.

I sneered in my heart and thought that her way of coaxing children was really ridiculous.

So I closed the door and continued to pretend I didn't see it.

But after an hour, I opened the door again and looked at the snacks.

Finally, I picked it up and took it back to the room.

These days, I spend most of my time preparing.

More than a week before leaving, Professor Hawthorne suddenly said he wanted to hold a farewell party for me.

It was more like his personal show than a farewell for me.

On that day, he was dressed in a suit and tie, looking elegant and generous, and won applause from the audience.

Seeing me approach, his other disciples began to speak ill of me in a sarcastic tone:

"I heard that the teacher has been too sick to get out of bed lately!"

"It's all because of Lucas' cursed wretch! He's always causing trouble and treating the teacher's hard work like a donkey's liver and lungs. He's simply an ungrateful viper who can never be tamed!"

"If the teacher hadn't been kind enough to take him in, he would have starved to death on the streets. Now he's turning around and biting his benefactor. He's worse than an animal!"

I knew in my heart that Professor Hawthorne had allowed them to say these things.

They were but guns in his hands.

I was too lazy to get involved with this group of people, so I turned around and wanted to leave.

But Professor Hawthorne gave them a calm look.

Those people immediately understood and quickly stepped forward to block my way, cursing even more fiercely: "What? Are you feeling guilty and want to run away?"

"A lunatic like you who doesn't know how to be grateful and is ungrateful might never come back after going to that damn place! It's just the right time to reunite with your parents who died a long time ago, and reunite your family in the underworld!"

As soon as I finished speaking, I rushed up and beat the person who said this.

The man was beaten so hard that he screamed in pain.

I didn't stop, but sneered and shouted, "Aren't you quite capable? Keep talking!"

Everyone was frightened by my sudden action.
